Also in iOS 13 manufacturers can now include preloaded apps which appear in CarPlay which can integrate car controls such as your AC etc and cameras. Without ever leaving CarPlay! You forgot that if lets say your wife plugs in her phone and she has an IPHONE. You cannot use any other APP on the phone itself while using navigation because it will minimize the navigation on car play. Also anything you do on the the car screen will also mimic a function on the phone.. This means if you swap between screens on car play it will interrupt whatever your wife is doing on her phone..... Most Android users have a more rounded understanding of tech and can appreciate many companies and manufacurers, including Apple. They usually give Apple credit where credit is due. Where as Apple users seem to lack some knowledge and are obsessed with demonstrating how Apple is the best and nothing else is worthy and showing where Apple copied Android (even though Android has always had every feature first and 2-3 years earlier than Apple) 😂😂😂😂
@n0snonzerosum8845 жыл бұрын
@@ChannelTwentyTwo I have MUCH second and first hand experience with this! People who have understanding of Android are less biased. Apple users are TOTALLY BLIND FOLLOWERS! It is the ONLY thing keeping me from buying one. -I can't be a part of ignorance. Shame because I think Apple is a MUCH better company. However the bar is pretty low with CIA/FBI/Alphabet Inc..
@arnemaeschaelck50125 жыл бұрын
Channel TwentyTwo I disagree. This might be true for people who actually prefer Android and use the higher end Android devices (which I don't believe is a ginormeous part of the Android users), but it's incorrect to automatically assume apple users equal to having less knowledge when it comes to tech - or Android users have more of it. I'm an apple user and definitely appreciate Android as well. I agree a lot of people get iPhones because it's trendy, it's what other people have (so it's easier for a friend to help or to use apple-exclusive features like airdrop), it's what they're familiar with and for some people: it's American made. But there are also a lot of people out there (and I wouldn't be surprised it's the biggest part of the Android users) that get an Android just because that's what happens to come with the phone they bought. They didn't do a lot of research and don't care about specs either. If you look at a smartphone for under €400 for example, chances are pretty high it's gonna be an Android. Doesn't mean it's gonna be a good phone and nowhere near as good as the experience a €1.000 Android phone could give you, but it does count when somebody mentions how many people out there use Android's. From my experience, people with iPhones just don't care about what anybody else has. It's just inconvenient some things are not compatible. Whereas Android users (the cheap kind) can't stop telling us how stupid we are for wasting money on an iPhone, even though I've seen some of them SWITCH to iPhones when it was gifted to them or when they could afford it. My friends with higher-end Android's (actual Android users) don't care either, and I appreciate them a lot. These are the Android users you were talking about. The iPhone users you were talking about, are moms, dads or average consumers.

Great video guys. Following my original earlier comment about CarPlay in iOS13 beta, these are the new noteworthy features: 1. Additional video stream support to show information in the cars built in gauge cluster or hud. (Vehicle dependent) 2. Independent app views so you can use a different app on your phone to what’s displaying on the cars screen. (Handy if you’re the passenger and still want to use your phone whilst the nav is on) 3. Redesigned home screen with new dashboard and a new light theme option. 4. A new settings app on the CarPlay screen for adjusting the new light/dark mode etc. 5. A much smaller and less intrusive Siri interface. 6. Tweaked and much better looking music UI. 7. You can now pinch pan and zoom on the map which you couldn’t do in iOS 12 as you showed. 8. I’m pretty sure you can now use Siri to control google maps if you specify you want google maps, although I haven’t personally tested that yet. 9. There’s a bunch more just go look on Apple’s website, iOS 13 preview and look under ‘All New Features’ where it lists all the new features, and then look for CarPlay, it’s quite a way down the page. www.apple.com/ios/ios-13-preview/features/ I’ve been using the iOS 13 public beta since beta 2 and the new features and tweaks to CarPlay are massive for me, it’s changed the whole experience and taken CarPlay from being good the being downright unbeatable. It’s that good in my opinion. Android Auto just caught up to where CarPlay was/is currently in iOS 12, but when iOS 13 drops for the public it’s going to leapfrog Android Auto all over again, the new update really has finished CarPlay off nicely. Please do another video like this when iOS 13 drops in September, it’s definitely worth a revisit because they’ve basically fixed all of the little gripes you still have with CarPlay.

I'm not a fan of either of the icon setups but I do appreciate having widgets. I also love having a map that can be used the same as if on the phone. All that being said neither is worth the hassel compared to my cars actual built in functionality. Oh and one other thing.... why in the world would you need to use bluetooth when you have your phone directly connected via USB? I don't need to use bluetooth with my android auto connection. As owner to both, Android Auto allows interactions with third party apps using Assistant while iOS tries it's best to NOT interact with any third party apps. For example, I can say "play song on Spotify, accept and respond to Facebook Messenger, etc" I am testing iOS 13 CarPlay and it is better with it finally having Dolby Atmos. The sound profile is way clearer and fuller playing Spotify but it is still buggy with Waze but is becoming more stable with every new beta update.

@@AutoVantage. instead of telling you what I mean I'd rather ask you if you would want to change anything with iOS or better yet prefer it give you some other capabilities you don't currently have. If so would you want to implement and/or display said additions in a way that makes your interaction with your device as quick and efficient as possible? If the answer to the first or second question is no, then you Sir have answered your own question and should stay with the mobile platform and ecosystem that serves you well already. I hope that helps and I appreciate the question!

This may not be the best place to ask but since the AA update my experience has drastically changed. I called Google, extensively browsed the AA help forums and cannot for the life of me find why the previously simple commands no longer work. I say "ok Google, text XYZ," and the system responds "I don't know how to help with 'text XYZ." I used to say "ok Google, what's on my calendar today," or "ok Google, call XYZ" but now Google can't help. The list goes on. I'm perplexed that something that always worked brilliantly now cannot do the simplest of things. How did this break? I didn't make any changes.

Are used Apple CarPlay for the first time this past weekend and I liked it a lot. Normally I use Google maps and I just listen for the voice prompts or I look at the screen of the phone. Having Apple CarPlay makes it so much easier to use iPhone and still use Google maps. The one downside was that there was no zoom in and zoom out feature that I can find.

Can't say I agree with your review, I use both the new Android Auto and Apple car play in my Audi. Android Auto looks slightly different to the one you shown, I suspect it adapts differently with different screens, for example mine has the background app info at the bottom of the screen not to the sides.

The fact that apple maps was not even used, automatically a point deduction. Also, since both had two screens to swipe for all the icons/apps that's a wash for the full screen feature. 🤖 Android for life

Android Auto for one very simple reason -- Apple persists in forcing you to use monitor spanning, thereby requiring the car to directly support Apple CarPlay, while Android Auto lets you use it self-contained in a car-friendly interface on the phone so if the vehicle doesn't support it, it's not the end of your IT access while driving.
@NathanGrebowiec5 жыл бұрын
I land on a tie. While the full screen on carplay is nice, the media widget while in maps on Android auto should not be ignored. As for the three previous apps in carplay, android audio makes that area quick media controls as well on non-widescreen units. It is a nice touch.

In the old Android Auto, I just connect to my car's USB socket and Bluetooth starts automatically; I usually don't have Bluetooth running. Once connected, it also turns off WiFi. When I disconnect, WiFi reactivates. It's pretty good that way.

Android user but Android Auto is a No-Go at the moment because of the way it enables Do-Not-Disturb automatically. And it doesn't set it back to original setup on exit either. Google developers not interested in making it user configurable (and deciding what the end user needs). Please check this out when you guys do comparison number 5. Hopefully the exposure will embarrass Google into fixing it.

I own both phones. One apple 1 Samsung. There is one seriously significant test that you guys did not do. Google Maps on an Android system allows you to, while in route to a given destination, search for waypoint, like a McDonald's, along your current route. I have yet to see that functionality in any way on any Apple maps software. Other than this one significant issue, I'm evenly split on the capability of the two interfaces.
