I use apple stuff because I got sucked in to the ecosystem and all of my stuff works together. But tbh I don’t really get the allegiance. I used a Galaxy S8 for a year because it looked dope and I wanted it, then I missed my iPhone so I got the iPhone X. I have an XS Max on order because it also looks dope. But I definitely want to play with the Note 9. Just get what ya want.

You don't even need Bluetooth if your head unit has an AUX port; in that case all you need is a $15 phone holder and a $3 3.5mm patch cable.

@@sebastian-daquanglocknerjr1883 No it doesn't. In your defence, I don't think you actually understood what the op meant. On android you can install android auto on to you phone. I have an nfc tag on my car holder, so when I mount my phone it automatically opens android auto on the phone, turns Bluetooth on, (if off), and contents to my cars Bluetooth. Basically it give you an easier interface to use while driving. It took me a while to like it over just lancing individual apps as needed,(which Is what I think you are referring to rather than Apple car play on the iphone).

I like the Mazda the most, everything make sense to me, as specially the Mazda interface is so good (not great) and fast. And in my opinion touch screen up top save a lot more space then install it in the middle like all the other cars out there.

You can now make your own Siri commands. So whenever you say directions you could have it open google maps

This will only work if your iPhone is unlocked. If you have ‘Auto lock’ set and the phone locks, the ‘Directions’ shortcut will prompt you to unlock your phone. So the only way is to set ‘Auto lock’ to never! Of course if Apple ever allow Siri shortcuts to access Google maps directly then it could work, but then why would they? Or just allow Siri to access Google maps while the phone is locked! Let’s face it, until (if or when) they allow Siri to interact with Google maps in the same way as it does with Apple maps it’s always going to be second best for access (but still first for navigation😉).

Yurt, you can have your google calendar automatically update your apple calendar and vice verse so you don’t even have to think about which one you use. This is also nice for adding things to your calendar from messages because it syncs.

I have additional respect for my Kia Optima 2016 SX after this series. Android Auto works flawlessly, it has adaptive cruise, cross traffic alerts when backing up, blindspot alerting and so many nifty well thought out features. Heck the default navigation is decent as well!

Unlike most other cars Mazda gives you a Mercedes style knob to control the infotainment and it works way better than any touchscreen I can send in Waze reports with barely a glance and without awkwardly reaching out for the screen while driving

Hey Guys, I have a Golf GTI 2018 and I never used apple maps before. Today I was stucked on a traffic on highway and I was using the Google maps and Waze. With both maps I had no alternative route to escape the traffic jam. It was a car accident on highway and it was blocked. I had nothing to do inside my car and than I route my destiny on apple maps and he got me on my place in 30min hehehe I was really surprised about it. Other point to apple maps is that he say which “side” of highway I need to stay to make a curve or to go out for example. My favorite is the maps from VW, but google maps give me faster the traffic information. VW give me it also but take longer than Google maps. All maps has a downside! Waze is good because of speed cameras, just it on my opinion! I was driving in Poland! Congrats for your channel! It’s really amazing the work you both are doing...

betovideos ehh, reliability wise google is better because it’s been out much longer. But Apple maps isn’t that far behind at this point. Also, (lemme blow your mind right quick.) Google maps was actually first used on the iPhone. Google maps came with the first iPhone in 2007 before android was actually an announced thing. When google announced android and the G1 in September 2008 they started giving android’s version more features and ended up breaching their five year contract with Apple to provide equal support of google maps to the iPhone. (IE The G1 had turn by turn nav and they refused to give the feature to the iPhone.) That’s the reason google maps was removed from the iPhone in 2012. Anyways, Apple maps was actual garbage until like iOS 9. It’s been pretty good since then and it runs way better than google maps on iPhone. Also, by integration I mean showing the map on the lock screen, and tapping the Apple Watch when you’re getting close to a turn. It also automatically tells you the estimated time to a frequently visited place when connected to your cars’ Bluetooth or USB/Aux port.

But if you aren't, Waze is a community updated navigation mobile app with a focus on routing based on traffic vs routing based on distance (important to note that Google Maps does this too now, as Waze is now owned by Google and they typically share traffic data). Waze takes navigation further by allowing users to report road conditions such as construction, objects/cars on the road, accidents and - I'd argue most importantly and the reason why it grew in popularity, it allows Wazers to report police traps. Of course the app does use your GPS data (speed, location) to "anonymously" report back traffic to the app.

I love how Yuri has to say his words very precise with his pronunciation for Apple Car Play to understand, like with his "T's, he has to emphasize on some of the letters in the words. Whereas Google can understand pretty much anyone's speech as if it were another human listening and understanding, oh and it can even pick up on your accent if you are from another country and still understand perfectly fine. Also, Yuri wanted a point for everything, probably because he knew Car Play would lose. "Oh you touched the screen (because Mazda's engineers and devs couldn't figure out how to get it working), that's a point for Car Play!" Yuri Tereshyn I'm just saying, before he knew it would be a tie, he was trying to get every single point for the tiniest things, but when a legit winning feature would come up on the Android side, he was like "IDK..." *iPhone screen turns on* "Oh! That's a point for Car Play!" Not that THIS exact example happened, but I'm just trying to show the amount of reaching he was trying to do with the points. Edit: And I'm not hating on Car Play, I'm sure it's great. I haven't had any experience with head units that had either Car Play or Android Auto, besides running Android Auto on my device and mounting it in my car, so I can't really say which is better just yet. Having recently switched from Android to iPhone in my 2017 Civic, I find now that CarPlay has Google Maps it's slightly better but they're basically the same. In my Civic's fairly laggy infotainment CarPlay runs much more smoothly and the music app is SO much better than Google Play Music (which I basically have to trick into shuffling all songs on my phone). Other than that they're basically identical and it more comes to personal preference as to which you like the appearance of more (and I do not care for the forced TREES on the Android Auto home screen, why Google why...)

You guys are keeping it so simple. How about you up the ante a little bit. Here are some of the things I do on a regular basis using Android Auto: Open my garage door. Turn on my hallway lights. Play a specific playlist I uploaded to Google Music. Have it automatically show me directions to my next appointment as soon as I get in the car (if I have a location set on the calendar meeting). Has anyone ever commented on the appearance of Google Maps on Android Auto vs Google Maps on Apple CarPlay? Like everything else on CarPlay, it seems to be such a higher resolution. The sharpness and colors just seem to leap off the screen in my car, compared to how Android Auto looked (dull and low-res) on my Android work phone. On a side note, while Apple Maps still has a ways to go in certain geographical regions, I've spent a lot of time experimenting with it. I like the appearance of the world in Apple Maps, and the smoothness at which it moves around. The directions give a little more detail than other navigation programs, especially when the road you're on changes its name or designation. On the other hand, while Google Maps wins for the completeness and accuracy of its maps, its actual directions while driving leaves a LOT to be desired. To be clear: The ROUTES Google Maps offers are great, especially when factoring in traffic. But the actual INSTRUCTIONS while driving are pretty bad in Google Maps. Especially when navigating complex highway interchanges. Can't wait to try out Waze on Apple CarPlay.

Interesting. I had read about a setting in an Android Auto beta to activate an HD mode, but I have everything up to date on my work phone, and can't seem to find it. Oh well. Now that Apple CarPlay offers Google Maps (and soon Waze), I won't have to plug in my Android work phone ever again when commuting. haha

Yes! And Waze, while not particularly good looking, is cute, and has the best traffic information to get you through major cities. They all have their pros and cons. Having used all three regularly, I can honestly say that none of them are perfect. They all have their uses.

And now that Waze has been available on Apple CarPlay for the past few days (and already updated once), I can say that the Waze experience on CarPlay is awesome. The maps look great on CarPlay. Very sharp and colorful, just like Google Maps. Waze on CarPlay doesn't yet have as much functionality in reporting things like you can on the regular app (or on Android Auto). For instance, you can report police in general, but you can't specify if they're visible, hidden, or on the other side of the road. At least, not yet. I'm sure a future update will correct this.

Me: Siri, play my music playlist. Siri: I don't understand. me: ...(me screamed at Siri after 3 times). I used have apple car play (iPhone 6s) and it's was horrible experience in terms of voice command when I am driving my ford focus electronic. The whole point of apple car play is to allow the driver to use voice command as much as possible. Now I own a pixel phone with Android auto which is so smart and I don't usually have to use the touch screen to navigate on the Android auto when I am driving, which makes Android auto so much better in terms of voice command.

Apple CarPlay will definitely be the best when Waze finally gets it together and puts their app on CarPlay. It’s in beta right now, and frankly not seeing it on my car’s display after updating to iOS 12 really put a damper on the update :/

Well, I have always been on the android side until the last year when I got my first iPhone. But since Apple cannot figure out multitasking (2 apps on 1 screen) view, I am going back to team Android in the next couple of days with the new Note 9. So I am going to say team Android Auto 😉👍🏼

... Yes there is. It's on the Plus models only, but you can definitely multitask, with an interface that (since Google screwed it up in Android Pie) is better than on the Pixel.

I have a Note 8 and an iPhone 8 plus which I got at the same time. I was previously iOS, however I find myself using my Note 8 far more. Once you wrap your head around the Android menu structure, I find it more flexible.
