Favorite headlamp ever: most compact and tidy, light weight, rechargable battery, powerful enough for night hiking, white and red beams, glow in the dark, Outdoorgearlab liked it... so naturally it's discontinued. What were you thinking, Petzl?!!

I appreciate starting 2020 with a review of a 2019 product is a bit late, but I only realised Petzl had updated the Zipka late last year, and it was a Christmas present, so I only opened it last week. Hope this is useful.

Nice one mate! - Is the core battery pack worth it's money really?

@@HamRadioPortableOperations Core battery is not good value for most people I don't think, you'd need to go through a lot of AAA batteries to make up the cost, or could just use cheap rechargable AAA batteries. Amazon price seems to go up and down like a Yoyo, I paid £19 for the core battery a while back, they have gone as low as £17.45, I also got the Actik Core for £33 including the battery - the Actik I don't think is that good, but it was a good deal for the core battery. Having said that I do use my Zipka with Core battery most days in winter, so its nice to just charge them up every couple of weeks and not throw batteries away.
