I also get bright lighted - and I don't even have LED headlights on my 2017 F350. Part of the problem is that even in low beam, BOTH the upper and lower pair of headlights are on. So, oncoming traffic just assumes hi beams must be on. What's worse, the headlamp focus is poor. Instead of projecting a nicely focused beam, the light is too diffused. So, the driver sees less ahead AND oncoming traffic is accosted by more stray light. What a combo

The maintenance, the fuel water filter, the cost of replacing injectors, the Def systems are failing , the price of the diesel fuel is higher and fuel jelling in the winter. What Ford should have done was install self leveling lights for load variations and for the price of these things all trims should be led. I do love the truck though, they got a lot of other things right.

GM and Ford co-built the current 10 speed, so I'd hope they'd be using their own electronic disaster waiting to happen. I can only imagine the failures these things will have, all that heat created as the transmission is trying to figure out which one of those 10 gears it should be in, and since they're all so closely matched for ratios you'll never know as the driver how much hunting that thing is doing till you are sitting along the highway waiting for a wrecker when that thing overheats...I really hope they overcool them to keep them alive...seemed to be a huge issue with older 6 and 8 speed transmissions too. I know the 6 speed in my 08 tundra seemed to always be trying to figure out what gear it should be in even unloaded LOL.
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 5 жыл бұрын
Too many lazy people here in the US to even drive one, would be cool, but a 5 or 6 speed manual is plenty in a pickup. The only reason they've got 10 speed automatics now is they think adding gears will help increase fuel economy. They can't figure out that the size and weight of the vehicles has increased over the years, the additional emissions stuff choking down your engine, and faster speed limits are the large factors in fuel economy numbers. It has nothing to do with the number of gears, its partially the driver, and the amount of unnecessary junk added to today's vehicles, everything is electronically controlled, that means more wiring, more computers, more sensors, etc...all that weight adds up, and with additional emissions controls that restrict airflow through the engine, it just combines to make a vehicle that has cool power numbers and fuel economy numbers on paper but in the real world just doesn't play out well :(.

I own a Ram and a Ford...so not a Ford Fan boy over the RAM, but lets face it, for us old timers, using the term Hemi on the current RAMs is funny. At best it is a semi-hemi. The current 6.4 Semi-hemi out performs anything that Dodge put out in the day that was "street legal"...so it is a good motor for sure! Look, I love the old engines...426 Hemi, 440, 383, 426, 427, and on...big American Iron....but we all know in our hearts the newer tech outperforms the old gear...more horsepower per cubic inch (liter..sorry), better MPG, cleaner running and longer life span. As far a a Ford legend, I owned an F350 with a 460 and it was about 260 HP and a pathetic torque rating and I could not pass a gas station. I think a 445 Cubic Inch V8 is something to pay attention to and I bet it spanks all the other V8's that are currently offered by all three US truck Manufacturers. I think the 10 speed is also a big plus for people who tow.

The reason the f150 (and the cars/SUVs) have the EcoBoost is because 2 reasons that I know of, 1 being the price of gas was rising and people appreciate saving money on gas, but also because there was a government "goal" of sorts set for auto makers on their light duty trucks and their cars that originally said they had to make 50mpg by 2025 I believe, while the heavier duty trucks were exempt

Kudos to Ford for building their own transmission. The Allison transmissions that GM and Ram use are very good, but you have to respect the fact that Ford still builds their own.

@@WilliamStewart1 GM isn't doing very good right now. They are shutting down factories and laying most of their employees off. GM is being boycotted in Canada. All their new models are receiving horrible reviews. A large number of their customers are moving to other brands. Investors are fed up and selling their GM stocks. They still owe billions of dollars. Do I need to continue?

GMs operating costs have been unsustainably high for the past few years. Major cuts need to be made for them to stay in business.

I hope this time ford offers the larger gas tank option for the shorter wheelbases. Yes I know you can get an aftermarket tank but it’s for diesels only. That 7.3L gas engine with 15,000 lb trailer won’t go very far with the 34 gallon tank.

So many people say “Too bad it’s not a diesel.” I own a 7.3 diesel and a 6.8l V10. The only difference (in nearly stock form) is the cost of fuel for the diesel and the increased oil change cost. For the V10 the performance in high altitude isn’t on par with the 7.3 due to forced induction. If I could push 3-5 psi the V10 and a gear vendor splitter for the 4r100 the V10 would be my choice.....a gear vendor on both trucks makes for a better towing vehicle but for the diesel makes it nearly perfect. I have owned Cummins 24v w/ 6 speed manual, Powerstroke 7.3 with 4r100, 6.7 auto, V10, and my work truck is a Chevy 6.0 gas. I put many miles towing and in elevation. None of these vehicles get more than 17 MPG on their best day and there are good and bad to them all. I will say that in my 15 year career I drove Fords for 13 and Chevy for the last 2 and the Ford truck is built to last getting beat on daily, loaded down to max GVW @ nearly 10,000 lbs. for a SRW. Going off-road daily and not pussy footing around. The Chevy just falls apart when it comes to work, it rides great but a waste when it comes to real world work. Great pavement princess as they say. The Dodge with a Cummins and Manual transmission, well the drivetrain is among the best, everything around it falls short unfortunately. When it comes down to it I’m not a fanboy of any brand, I want my money spent on a vehicle that does what I need it to do and I don’t want to buy a new truck every 3 years because they fall apart.
