It's nice to see manufacturers putting some emphasis on affordable street bikes with sane horsepower and strong powerbands for street riding. Eighty HP in a light 400 lb bike is wickedly fast on public roads and this machine will handle nicely in the twisties. Definitely a big thumbs up in the looks dept.

I know!!! I've owned 4 Triumphs, all 955/1050's. I'm 55 and I just don't feel the need to prove or to experience how fast I can go, but rather how well I go fast. So I sold my 1050 Speedy and bought a 2006 Multistrada S with Ohlins. To which I might add one of these for the daily rider and keep the Multi for long runs. Make mine white.

My Bonneville has been an exceptional surprise and is my favorite motorcycle to date. Spec sheet looks to be quicker than my current T120 and about $5K less dollars new.... This bike will do everything I need it to do, daily commuting, slow city riding and rural back road riding. I see they fit it with premium Road 5 tires (all I run on my T120) which is the silent nod from Triumph, clearly they are planning the owners of these Tridents to chase big miles out of the crate. So impressed with Triumph these past few years... Made a convert out of me! Last thing I need to see is a top rack and cruise control... Have those things and I'll put a deposit down now.

@@saddle8bag I daily a ST675r, brakes are perfect, linear in feel with a strong bite midway through the lever, engine is linear in power throughout (would be even more beginner friendly with a rain riding mode), you can adjust the suspension to be quite soft or very rigid, front-&-back. @Alberto-qf7zh4 жыл бұрын
@@mark3863 Hi Mark. They seem to be all great bikes, but you'll have to think about what you'll use the bike for most of the time, and what's your riding style, how long you're planning to keep the bike, maintenance and insurance cost, etc, etc. It's difficult for one to advise on what bike you should get because there's always a bias based on what they have experienced with a certain bike, and that experience will not be the same for everyone. I would suggest you test ride them, if possible. I've tried a ktm 690 duke, good bike for spirited/hooligan type of rides, not so much for normal town/slow traffic ride. Didn't like the feel of the engine pumping underneath my seat. The Z900 is a different bike, it's basically a sport bike without fairings. Not in the same category as the other ones. The MT07 is a really nice bike in the sense that it's fun to ride and the price makes it really hard to beat, however, it's a bike built on a budget and it kinda shows. Not a bike I would keep for long. The CB650R has a better fit and finish. For my everyday ride is better than the mt07. It's a bike I was really considering as a cheaper alternative to the monster 821, until Triumph came along and did it for me (so far). If you have your heart set on the Ducati, and you have to choose between the 821 an 797, choose the 821. It's a better bike in most aspects. Unless the 797 is *significantly much cheaper. But remember, Ducati's can be a bit finicky in how they ride, and maintenance is more expensive than the competition. But it's a bike that will make you feel very accomplished and proud. I'm sorry for the long reply, I just wanted to help in your decision as much as I could, I hope I've accomplished that. All the best in your choice, and ride safe.✌🏾

Thanks Alberto, your insight is appreciated. I used to ride a 2016 Ducati Multistrada 1200s but injured my back (not bike related) and couldn’t ride so I sold it. @Alberto-qf7zh4 жыл бұрын
@@mark3863 😳 You had the Ducati Multistrada 1200S! I'm so jealous of you right now. Now I see why the ktm duke 790/890 seems to be on top of your list. Compared to the other bikes, the ktm seems to be the one that will give you the closest experience as the Multistrada. Have you thought about the Mt-09? I think that would be a better bike for your type of commute. I'm not sure bout the weight part for your particular situation, but a quick Google search, all fuelled up, the Mt-09 seems to weight about the same as the Multistrada's dry weight. And if that's not too far from the Ktm's weight, then I would definitely go for the Mt-09. Try to seat on one and have a feel for it. Yamaha dealers are everywhere (at least where I stay). I think that's the bike that will more closely resemble the Multistrada 1200S that you had.

You can't really bang on about heritage for a company that really only started making decent products in the late 80s early 90s. Combine this with a manufacturing process located in Asia and your historic threads become translucent. Kawasaki however have been building successful quality motorcycles since 1966. The arrival of the W1 marked the death of Triumph in its original genuine format, an efficient quality machine that outperformed, didn't cost the earth or breakdown. The Kawasaki brand remains unchanged from that day which is a true example of providence and history. Good video keep up the work.

I own a Cb650R, and Damm the Trident looks amazing, having the easy integration with the bluetooth it will make a dent to the CB sales. Having only 3 cylinder it might have a better gas consumption. So keen for a test drive. For sure I would be in between the two. Specially the Neo Retro looks.

In this comparison, no doubt I would choose the Trident! It's a so lovely bike 😍 with a great value for money. I thought about it but I ride a 1000 cc right now. So, I didn't choose the Trident, I ordered a 765 Street Triple R 🤩 this engine is awesome with the best chassis ever, that makes a very nimble bike. Test it and you will understand!! Great video Bob 👍

Some people have mentioned brakes. I found the brakes were great when I tested it.... no worries at all, this bike will suit newer riders but its a cracking bike for a more experienced rider to exploit too.

Great work MOTOBOB, really enjoyed the interview. Only wish I was a beginner again... Nice moto Triumph, but I question the wisdom of putting the rear indicators so low down. Looks cool but makes it much harder for cars to see them when in busy city traffic.

Cheers Sam! And yes that’s a fair point. Surprised there isn’t a homologation rule about height... or maybe there is and they’re on the cusp

It's north of £8k by the time you've added all the extras you want. And that doesn't include the connectivity gubbins either.

@@gerardmontgomery280 5hp more than my sv650 and lighter. Never needed or asked for more. Feeling, flickability, engine sound and roll on acceleration are a lot more important than raw topspeed or sub 3 seconds not to sixty

I expect to return to motorcycling in 2021, after not owning a bike since the mid 1990's. Mostly for commuting and joy riding. I've been lusting after the Z900RS, but this new trident has turned my head. At over $11,000 for the Z900RS and about $9,100 for the Trident, I'm gonna have to take a good look. Both are really appealing.

That's a tough one! The Kawasaki has the power but this is a good 25kg lighter

@@motobob - Thanks for the response. Since my last bike was a '78 CB750, and because I'm less infatuated with speed than I used to be, I'm sure i'll find either bike more than satisfactory when it comes to power. At 6'-0" and 210 lbs, do you have any sense about which bike will be right-sized for me, ergonomically speaking (seat height / rider triangle)?

Over board graphics seem to conceal the harmony of the free form of the bike, a simple matt paint would uplift the bike by miles

So Yammaha have taken one of the best looking bikes in the sector and ruined how it looks, just about the same time Triumph put out this little beauty.

I don't see any luggage rack or similar. I love the bike, but would sometimes want to take it somewhere longer. No saddlebags or anything like that are offered, only those two tiny bags.

A great looking naked, lots of usable torque and the cache of the Trident name. This should make for a killer urban warrior, while still being good on the twisties.

A little surprised the SV650 wasn’t included in the comparison given its aimed at a similar market and has similar styling.

Hi moto bob , the new trident looks really good and the Gray and red looks really good and the price is not bad . The Only thing don't like is the rear huger over the tyer it could do with being under the rear break light

Looks good great vid but first question I would ask at the dealers would be service costs , compared to the competition triumph triples are a shocker. It’s starting to put me off buying another triumph especially as not British built anymore

They said that the servicing costs are lower than any other triumph, but I’ll go into that in a later video I guess

When you think about Triumph was at one point two steps away from disappearing, it really makes me feel super good about them to see the kind of bikes they are putting out. And makes me feel good about loving motorcycles to see a company be so passionate about creating high quality bikes that connect with why everyone rides. I think about people who find out in high school they are dyslexic. They get to a point where everything is a struggle, but through good people and direction, they turn everything around and you hear about them flourishing later on. I wouldn't call it a MT 07 killer. Only maybe in the context of a magazine's bike comparison. At a probable $9000 price, the MT07 will still be a popular ride. Needs a yellow or a Goodwood green version.
