I've own a s5 since 2019 that I built myself (bought the frame only) and I've had 0 issues with the steering limiter. I've also wrapped the damper in silicone so that I don't have hard metal on carbon. It did limit the turning radius a tiny bot but I've never once had an issue while riding. This bike, due to its steeply raked fork leans over on a dime. I hardly have to put in any steering input. The bike is heavy though and I would advise buying a size smaller or your exact size so you don't have to worry about cutting the seatpost. Love this bike and proud of Jumbo-Visma and cervelo.

The little bit weight gained means nothing on the flats and the more aero parts on the bikes will be huge for the consumer, also we have not seen any real world weights of the new madone with an ultegra build and also there mid tier wheels, hopefully i can bring that to you guys first but if I had to guess same size bike same depth wheels I would say the new madone would be this heavy

Interesting to see the downtube cutout for the front wheel. I recall a cervelo video from a few years ago in which is was explained that such a design feature was only good for reducing drag in a wind tunnel, since it only 'works' when the wheel is perfectly centered. As soon as the wheel is turned a tiny bit, it's less aero.
@GCPerformance182 жыл бұрын
okay but how often are you turning in a race? for how long of that corse, usually the wheel stays strait and usually when you are turning you are slowing down to speeds that do not matter about aero because usually that rider stands up out of the saddle to accelerate again

great feature! I've liked the R-series from these guys, and was on the fence about the S5 not because of the "enterprise-esque" stem(I actually love it!), but because of the bayonet steerer design's turn limiter. Will there be a durability issue with these? Thanks very much!
@GCPerformance182 жыл бұрын
I mean with that design there is always a limit but honestly, you will not ever reach that limit while riding the bike on the road, there will never be a turn that you will have to make that will cause that damage, the turn limiter comes into play on bike in work stand out side or windy day and the front wheel is flopping back and forth, or if in an accident then the bike can crack because of it but if you go down on a crash then there is more at risk then just that part of the bike, I mean for example look at the guys in the tour, they are riding on hairpin turns and switch backs and they dont have an issue with the turn limiter

threaded is more secure and less issues for creaking but honestly pf for me is the better platform, it is closer to the bike it is more aero, and when the crank sits directly on the bearing and has less distance between the two it has more direct power, I love the osbb by specialized they just needed to eb installed right and like hambini says these companies need to make bikes with perfect holes, but honestly, it is nice and as long as you have a nice shoop install a nice bb from factory and do the proper procedures, you are all set

This bike was really easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

Imma scott fanboy and will want to know your view about the latest Scott Foil RC pitting against the Cervelo S5. Both bikes won stages for both TDF and TDFF while of course S5 did win the GC for TDF, the Scott Foil RC 2023 won 2 stages with Yellow and Green jerseys too for the Femme. Which one would you go for then? and of course, both bikes looks gorgeous 🤩🤩🤩Have a great one @GCPerformance!

man I am not gonna lie I am a scott fan boy too, I love the new scott foil, it is so nice from what I have SEEN online but I want to see one in person btu it looks so nice and they have similar looks to the s5 but the bike should be lighter but I myself would swap from my tarmac t the new scott foil too

At the World Tour level the top pros will win on whatever brand their team rides. With the possible exception of some time trial gear, all the WT bike sponsors are close enough to the same performance, otherwise riders would have more of an opinion.

@@GCPerformance18 ikr! it looks so so sweet , hot and whatever warm fuzzy feeling urgh. i ran out of words to describe hahah! And yes, while it looks similar to an S5, i do hope more riders give this a consideration too man. And glad to see a fellow #scottgang haha! i do hope you get to see one in flesh soon somewhat though!

@@charliedillon1400 yea of course! ditto to that. but i think when things gets towards the margin of diminishing returns (i.e. bike companies spend big bucks on R&D with aero bikes looking similar blah blah blah), it 's really the riders opinions that differs the bikes experience and how it will turn out to be? in terms of preference, pricing. That's why im usually quite keen to see and hear about what diff ppl feel about bikes. Could be same bike but different kind of expereince! just my 2cts! :D

Nah nah... Here's what they really did. I'm guessing they addressed the horrifying design issues that were related to the front end in which the bike was basically destroying itself everytime you turn the handlebars (check Luescher Teknik videos on it) The "aero changes" are really some cosmetic changes that wouldn't even add up to 1w difference.
@GCPerformance182 жыл бұрын
no they did this just like trek madone and also the scott foil, yes there was an issue where if you smashed it to an extreme turn it could cause damage but a lot of bikes have this issue, bianci oltra x4 does the same thing, and also bikes in the pass as well.... its like almost like complete horizontal turn

@@GCPerformance18 New allez sprint was meant to be 1:1 identical as tarmac but twisting handlebars was rubbing the cables in the integrated system so they had to delay the release and they changed the front of the frame slightly compared to the tarmac

@GCPerformance182 жыл бұрын
I would not say they are the greatest but any bike can climb, there are better options for climbing of course, like there r5 or the tarmac, but honestly choose the bike for the terrain you ride the most, you could get thhis bike frame and slap some 40s on there rim depth and be a nice hybrid bike

The bike looks cool but it’s too heavy thanks to unnecessary disk brake system. Disk brakes useless on a road bike. Disk brakes are for gravel and mountain bikes but not road bikes.
