I actually prefer 9” display over this 10”. They both have CarPlay and android auto but 10” offer all the extra apps which you can download from Play store. I really appreciate you going through the effort to install all of these different things...whether they're desirable additions or not. I personally like the minimalistic look of the interior, which renders this addition moot for me. While I like the way it looks, I'm not convinced it's really needed. The one thing that would drive me crazy is having the speedo always being displayed in two places right next to one another. That seems like a huge oversight on the manufacturer's part. One would think that there would be more relevant info to show in the left circle since the speed is shown in the middle. Dunno...seems like the product is about 90 percent "there" but needs more dev work I think. Great install though on your part.

In the 19th minute of the video you were scrolling through the apps in the main screen. Any idea how one can change the default app to be opened with the Music icon? In settings, I found Navigation which you can change to your preferred navigation app to be opened but I can’t find it anywhere for Music. At the very first time when I clicked on Music, it asked me what app I would like to set to be opened when Music in selected. I picked Music Player (red icon) but it turns out its just a music player that plays mp3 files. The BtMusic (blue icon) is a much better app and plays music from my phone via Bluetooth. I want to change the default Music app to that one but can’t find it anywhere in settings. Only solution appears to be a factory reset. Any clue where that setting might be hidden before I do a factory reset?

When using CarPlay you can select where you want to output on your phone Bluetooth options and just select your car to output the sound instead of CarPlay device. It should work with other phone as well but if you connect both phone the display will try to connect to the first that it can detect so it might confuse which one to connect. For your first issue, the right steering button is not the best way to navigate through main menu. I just use it for the main screen with speedometer. As for second issue, if you play music in CarPlay you can change bluetooth output on your phone and switch to car bluetooth. Another great video. One question please...how does the aperture through the wheel line up when you have the wheel positioned so that one can look over the wheel through the windshield? Does the upper curve of the wheel block any of the screen? I really don't want to block any of my lower windshield with the top of the steering wheel. Would it do better with the aftermarket yoke?

If you adjusted to the best position the center of steering wheel would only block lower middle part of the display which don't any important info there. It doesn't windshield at all just like what you see in the video. If you are planing to change to Yoke steering wheel anyway then properly better viewing, but if you're not then I don't think it's worth changing just to have better viewing for this display. Do not connect the cable to the display first. That should be your last step. I would run the cable from MCU under grove box and up to the side then along underneath the dashboard to the display. Then connect hannshow cable MCU. After that connect to display. Because the connectors on the end that connect to display is smaller than the one you connects to MCU. Thank you for watching! I just ordered it from Hensshow for my Model Y LR 2023, but cables also need to connect 12V batter in frunk. I dont see you have done that in this video.. maybe its because you have installed in Model 3 ?

I think they updated the wire harness. Because original wire you have to finish the plugging process to the MCU under 3 mins but with 12V battery connection you don’t have to worry about getting it done under 3 mins any more. A few people asked the same question and this is what Hanssow told me about new wire harness.

@@Mugsy-14 but the likelihood of that is very slim. There are protections in place about the use of aftermarket parts. They are not allowed to say your turn signals don't work because you plugged in the HUD. It has to be the exact cause of the problem, otherwise they have to honor the warranty

As far as I know, this display only extracts information from the car’s MCU and not modify anything to the car. For that being said, I don’t think this will void the warranty. The thing I love about Tesla is its minimalistic approach, that is what makes it unique and what I love about it. With these little additions it just adds distractions to what could be a really nice drive, it’s turning it into a mindless BMW, or Mercedes or VW. The whole point of Tesla is 1 screen that tells you everything that you need to know.

If you ask Tesla Technicians about this, they will say that they don’t cover any aftermarket parts. This would be the same as any other car brands. If there is any issue that causes by aftermarket part like this I would just remove the part and put OEM part back in before contacting Tesla service. I just install the 10.25 screen for Model Y yesterday and having problems. Do you know how to fix these? 1. It shows an error message that car model not found (cannot load). So mini view of car is missing, only the road or lights show up on the screen, no car image is shown. 2. Zlink is not connecting/working when I get in the car, my phone's (Android Auto) bluetooth says it's connected to the screen (not tesla screen name, but the name for zlink "a700 something") but it just continues with a loading screen. I have to manually disconnect my bluetooth and reconnect EVERY TIME. 3. The screen is connected to tesla as "tesla screen", sounds from screen like Google navigation but when I play spotify, it plays only the first 1 second of the song and stops. 4. Wifi keeps turning off and hotspot keeps turning on, I cannot keep wifi connected. I can't download anything.

Talking through phone using CarPlay I’m assuming doesn’t work. It’s not CarPlay if the phone / device can’t hear you. I have a dashboard now and mic does not feed audio I say from the device to my phone. Making the CarPlay text to speech useless.

You check in your model from the display. Go to main menu car symbol bottom left corner > software > Additional vehicle information > Infotainment processor.
