You sometimes ask how we keep our homes tidy when having a project going+ life. Short answer, we don't. 😉 When I decluttered and organized a room that overwhelmed me, the rest of the house suffered. I spendt 10-15 minutes in each room every day to make it ok. Now I have reached the maintain stage of decluttering, and can easy keep my house tidy. But before it was impossible with projects going. Can you ask the parents at your daughters school if you can make a sale? Instead of tables you can use sheets on the floor to gather the sell stuff. Maybe borrow the sports hall or the schools parking lot?
@gettingtidy249521 күн бұрын
Problem is when one room is sorted out all the stuff from that room belongs in another room and so you get a mess there. Great to hear you're now at "maintain" in your house. I'm at that in one room in my house!

Hi Emma, a year in and there’s still stuff everywhere. This is SO real. Makes all of us struggling with the same thing feel that this is such a process and can’t be done overnight. I swear it seems like the stuff just grows back. As others have said; it’s like peeling away at an onion. I had an epiphany this week. I looked around and realized I’m getting there. Still a ways to go but slowly tossing and donating and editing. And it’s finally starting to show. Always a great video and as always; watching from Canada 🇨🇦🍁ps many cities here are named after the cities in the uk; such as Durham, Windsor, both in Ontario, Bath New Brunswick, Oxford and Liverpool Nova Scotia.

I didn't know that, thanks for sharing. I think someone should have said to me years ago...stop bringing things in to your house!! I was aware of the toys multiplying but not aware of all my own stuff which multiplied every few months 😂😂

Hello. I just found yr channel. Love watching someone else struggle with decluttering. Ive been trying to downsize for sometime. Mess happens. I was born and bred in Norwich Norfolk. I grew up near Chapelfield Gardens. My secondary school was The Hewett. I now live in Kingston Ontario Canada. A beautiful historic small city. Fun fact Kingston was the original capital of Upper Canada until it moved to Ottawa. Another beautiful city. Have a great weekend ❤

Wow thanks for being here and sharing that you grew up in Norwich. My Aunt's lived near Chapelfield gardens. They are pulling the Hewett School down I think. How did you come to move to Canada?
@yasmindias906221 күн бұрын
@@gettingtidy2495 I grew up at Walpole Gardens. Those maisonette s. There used to be a Vet clinic next to those buildings. Yes I heard The Hewett was being demolished a couple of my school buddies are visiting the site Nov 9. Sending me lots of pictures. Do you know what is going to be built there. Massive property. I came to Canada to marry the boy I dated in 5th form. His father was in Norwich for a year working. We met at The Hewett 5th form. Geography class actually. The rest is History 💕

Hi Emma, My MIL passed a few years ago. The family home was HUGE. My MIL was a hoarder, never letting anything go. We spent 3 months working 3-4 days a week,I swore I would never leave that awful mess to my kids. We have simplified greatly and now can clean both bathrooms, vacuum and the rest in a couple of hours.

We have to be so cautious with what we read, see and listen to. As a Christian, I feel extremely uncomfortable with claims about things like reincarnation. We can be deceived if we are too open-minded about things that may be contradictory to scripture. A loving word of warning ❤️

For your mop that doesn't have a spray bottle. Just get a spray bottle (or repurpose an empty bottle), make your own solution (I use half cup each of vinegar and rubbing alcohol with 1 cup of water), and spray yourself. I use my mixture to clean everything because I am allergic/sensitive to everything. Both disinfect and the alcohol help drying process. I have several bottles all over the house. When Swifter came out with a spray bottle, I hated the formula. It seemed to leave my floors sticky, and I had an issue with the smell. Another mop I purchased with spray bottle and you used your own cleaner I found difficult to remove bottle and to fill.

Have you heard of Swedish death cleaning? I like the concept. I honestly don't declutter for others, I do it for me. I guess I'm selfish but, when things are cluttered or I open a closet or cupboard and can't find what I'm looking for, it clutters my head. It weighs on me and I find I have to do something about it. Whether it be organizing or eliminating, I always feel so much better when I can see the progress. I just recently sorted our office closet and the closet at our front door, and it is so nice when I open the door and see it organized and not just piled up with things. After having so many other people's things in my home to have to go through and toss, save or donate, I am happy to be back to only having to deal with my things. I did laugh when I saw the pot or container on the top of your cupboards. My cupboard tops are designed in a manner that if I put anything up there, it kind of slides back and you can't see it or reach it. I put a box of cereal up there, when we first moved in, and it disappeared. My husband is 6' 5" and he could barely reach it. Lesson learned.

When you vacum the space saver bags, make sure the clothes are right underneath the suction hole. That way, it gets all the air out. 😊 I have one plastic tote for each person in our family. They fill it up with special things and memorabilia. If it is full and don't have room for something, they choose themselves what yo remove and get rid of. This way, we all have our special things gathered and safe, and it is tidy and does not take too much room.
