sorry, but laverda is the ferrari of motorcycles. the mv agusta is the lamborghini of motorcycles. the ducati is just the ducati of motorcycles. look it up: laverda has been the ferrari of motorcycles for the last forty or fifty years. no knock on ducati, just appropriately raising laverda to its glory.

I'm fan of MV Agusta, and an owner. While this is yet another stunning example of their "motorcycle art", I am more a fan of the Brutale 800 bikes. None the less this is a beauty. I have to say that since Timur Sardarov has taken control of MV Agusta their motorcycles are becoming much more reliable.

I owned a 2017 F4RR. Too many mechanical and electrical issues. I was expecting a reliable motorcycle but very disappointed. My dealer dropped the MV brand from the show room. Issues I had with the motorcycle: electrical wiring issue which was fully replaced under warranty, oil leak from the crank where the sprocket is (even after dealer servicing it), gas tank deformation due to ethanol content in the US gasoline (replaced under warranty), engine overheating issue even with a better water impeller installed, vibrating mirror that was replaced under warranty, LCD dash that becomes dark & unreadable when the bike is parked under the sunlight for too longer. Issues with dealership: untrained mechanics due to high turnover, careless work (missing screws, missing fasteners, overtorquing causing damage to engine crankcase, missing clips, did not put the fairing back correctly after service), misdiagnosed problems causing even more expensive service. I’ve seen two other customers with Brutale 800 (MY 2017) whose engine was broken and replaced under warranty. The F4 or any MV bikes are motorcycle art for the living room literally. My F4 is the most expensive living room decor there is. I’m still holding onto it for my project bike and learning to service it myself. The F4 is a great motorcycle when it is working but my ownership has been plagued with too many unscheduled visit to the dealer. I will forever never consider buying another MV Agusta again. My Ducati is surprisingly a much more reliable bike from electrical and mechanical perspectives. Aftermarket parts are plentiful. Dealership experience has been very positive so far. Service work has been great also. Sorry MV Agusta, you are extremely beautiful to ride and to look at but I have no patience in dealing with many negative ownership experiences. YMMV.

On a bike this powerful do you have to worry about wheel spin? Say you're cruising along in 3rd gear and the suddenly give it the beans. Will the rear tire spin out or does it have enough grip?

MV Agusta, Ducati, Aprilia, and others have excellent traction control systems that can be user adjusted for minimal intrusion (let's you spin the rear wheel whenever you wish) to higher levels of control that prevent all wheel spin in 1/10 of a second. For example, my Ducati Diavel is set at the middle setting. There is a gravel strip in the middle of the road near my house. When I cross that gravel while accelerating quickly in 2nd gear, the rear tire spins just enough for the bike to slide sideways 3 or 4 inches. Not enough slip/spin to cause a loss of control, but it lets me know that DTC intervened.

I'm with you Bob on the beauty of MVs. However MV goes through cash like a sailor does on beer during a shore leave. It is hard to count the financial rescuers just since 2000. How long before KTM calls it quits and before we get single cylinder Chinese bike with MV plastered on the side and make spares for the 35K MVs unavailable. I'm guessing if your rich it doesn't matter....they are beautiful.

KTM made a smart move and has deep enough pockets to ride out the rough start of this relationship. KTM has announced new dealer contracts, most non KTM dealers that were MV Agusta dealers lost their dealerships. Those dealership contracts were then given to larger more stable KTM dealers. The idea is that the larger KTM dealers will provide the customer support necessary to bring MV Agusta into the reach of middle class buyers. Not worrying about dealer support or traveling 500 miles for warranty service will be a game changer for the brand. The investments in Ducati and Aprilia were game changers in their quality control, so we should see similar improvements in QC in the MV Agusta brand as well.

I tried the „normal“ brutale 1000RR …horrific bike to ride everyday. Super uncomfortable and no fun to ride steep down and a bit lame when riding 50 km/h ….buuuut should I ever won the lottery his will be the first bike I would buy. It looks amazing and the thrill of it when accelerating from 40 to 120 in a second …wow! But then again … I could never use it‘s full potential …not even half of it in everyday.

Climbing off one of these would give me the same feeling I had getting out of a Lamborghini Murcielago outside the pub when I worked at a dealership, like a bit of a dick. Judging by the look on the faces of those crowded outside the pub they felt the same. Lovely to look at though.
