@ Quick question if you have time to answer. In poly/poly hybrid what are the best 4-5 poly cross strings which soften up stringbed, but still provide decent tension maintenance and SnapBack?
@ACTennisАй бұрын
@vaderg5272 Tru Pro Ghostwire and Head Lynx Touch are ones that will open up ball pocketing and comfort Ghostwire will be the softest and most ball pocketing, will retain the most spin, but it will break faster and always likely the first string to break before mains - but it's my favourite cross string Lynx touch is be slightly more muted, still create a lot of pocketing in softer frames that already pocket, but a bit more responsive in crisp racquets, wont snap back as hard, but if you have a strong sharp main, i think it's fine - also i think the durability is extremely good I don't bother to use anything outside of those, because i feel like these are specifically made to be cross strings, whereas say you could take Poly Tour Pro or something, but then there's just too many combos
@vaderg5272Ай бұрын

@@tenniswithandy I switched from the pure strike 98 18x20. I get better feedback from the stringbed and a longer dwell time from the constant beam width and flexy throat. It helps me adjust from shot to shot. I probably get a heavier ball from the pure strike. I'm still getting used to the percept for the volleys. The shape of the percept and the smaller head size helps on the serve for me. Currently testing different strings (RPM blast, RPM rough, ALU power, hawk touch, hawk power, polytour pro, restring sync, toroline Caviar and O toro) strung around 54-56 lba.

Another spot on review! I'm only a UTR 4.5 but I demo'd the new 98, 100 and 100+. Used to main the 2022 EZ100 and of course have a DR98 to compare as well. If money was not an issue I would have one of the new EZ100s in the bag for when I get completely gassed, balls get old and need easy depth. The outgoing 100 I have currently serves that purpose (as well as being a great doubles stick) but everything is even easier with the new version - easier on the arm, easier power, better touch, more consistent string bed, same rock solid stability. Agree that the old ones got a bit stiff if strung high but my demos were also strung with PTP at 53lbs and had no comfort issues at all. I'm not good enough or fit enough to play with a 98 for the course of a match to keep the high swing speed up but the new one is much more forgiving than the DR98, which I found the sweet spot to be pretty small, however the flexy profile of the DR is still really nice to play with if playing well and my ceiling was a lot higher with that. The 100+ I tried for fun and might be a switch for a friend who's a defensive grinder using the 2019 PA (again, if money wasn't an issue). I think Plus versions/XL frames are still a pretty underrated option for better rec players just to get that more reach but still not unmanageable being under/around 330 SW.

Can't really go wrong with Ezones, I do like the new ones - so many frames coming out though, hard decisions 😅

your Reviews are the best, I love watching them. the whole process, the layout is just perfect. i've been looking for the right tennis racket for a while now. I've already tried many, some of them definitely too short. i am lefty with a thb with a good swing and focus on groundstrokes. i need controlled power from the baseline with many rackets i have the feeling i can't charge through with all my swing, it becomes too uncontrolled and the balls end up in the fence. i'm more a flathitter with not so much spin. I have tested the following over the last few months: boom pro 2024 (thinking back, one of the best overall package) ezone 100 (not enough feel for me) shift 300 (very powerful similar to the ezone 100 strangely many forehands ended up in the net) aero 98 (tested far too short) percept 100d (very good overall but something was missing at the end) gravity pro 2023 (serve monster unfortunately tested too short the test time was extremely good huge sweetspot, great backhand and good forehand) do you think i should try the blade v9 18x20 and the gravity pro again? keep up the good work!
@ACTennisАй бұрын
Given that you can demo (i think) - Blade v9 for both string patterns is definitely a good consideration Gravit Pro maybe the new one if you think you are fine to handle the weight, because the new ones should be coming in a slighter lower spec , more headlight and lower swingweight, it will make them easier to sustain the swing, and if you really know how to swing them, for me nothing produces a ball like the Gravity Pro for our kind of level

You mention something about the ezone 100 that I have found with the outgoing version but no other reviewers have mentioned. I find i can crank the ball at contact and it flies through the air fast but when it hits the court it loses energy somehow and my opponents can handle it. It's kind of weird, like i expect to do a lot of damage but it doesn't quite happen on their end haha. Also, the way you were hitting in the video is how i think it plays best, i.e. hitting flat laser beams, more first strike kind of tennis. I don't think it is as well suited to baseline grinders. Lastly, i agree that its not great for creating spin, it can be done but its got a low launch angle and you have to have strokes that create spin, it won't give you much like the latest vcore. Because of its stability and lower weight it is a real weapon at the net. Great review!!
@ACTennisАй бұрын
That's particularly what i'm a bit worried about if i decide to give it a real go , because with my most difficult opponents, i need every millisecond taken away from their time as an aggressive player, that bit of time that they get for free off the bounce will allow them to defend easier - and i don't expect that I would bother weighing this up at all because it's so thick already, i think i'd just become slower - stock is where it's at for sure with the low weight But on the upside all that stability would probably allow me to play defensively and counter alot easier, where my current Gpro i can struggle if i don't swing enough on defense 🙂 Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for your impressions of the new Ezone line. I would be delighted if you were to purchase the Ezone 100 and create a full review of it, as I am most interested in this model 😊 I played the Ezone 100 2020 for a year and the Ezone 100 2022 for a brief 15 minutes. In my recollection, the Ezone 100 2020 had high spin potential. The maneuverability wasn't as good as the Ezone 98 2020/2022, but the string pattern was more open and the launch angle was higher. I've never played an Ezone 98+ or 100+, as they are unfortunately not offered in Germany. I'll be testing the Ezone 100 as soon as it's available as a demo. I've always been fascinated by the controllable power of the 100. However, if I can't generate enough spin with the EZ100 2025, it would be a dealbreaker for me, as I primarily play on clay and heavy topspin is very important there.
@ACTennisАй бұрын
To get some great spin, you gotta be like Casper Ruud i imagine lol, it's such a thick beam, i resorted to very efficient stroke pattern - I think i could get higher launch angle, it's not really a problem, especially with sharper strings, but it will be more difficult to be consistently looping the ball unless you throw yourself at it. Clay would be a tough one

I am moving on from my prototype Shift 99, and decided to try the new Gravity 98 and the new Ezone 100..( some have suggested that I try the VCore 100, too)…I don’t play at your level , but I play very well for my age… singles 4.0… You did suggest that I try the Ezone 100. You seem to like it as well as the Gravity 98. I string with gut in mains 55, poly in crosses 52 to protect my elbow, but I am always tempted to go full poly. Is my string set up good for all of these racquets? And, considering these three racquets, which do you think would be a best fit?OHB ( slice, flat), SW forehand ( moderate spin and flat) … compact strokes with just moderate head speed… Happy Hollidays, Best, John… Again, imo, you produce the best racket videos on KZbin.
@ACTennisАй бұрын
New EZ100 i think will be more arm friendly, because of the stability, there is really not much shock that goes through the arm because of that - Gravity 98 is comfortable, but you are going to have to swing out big time, and if your technique is not the type that you are very loose and free flowing, it may lead you to have a lot more tension in your muscles, forcing the stroke to generate power, which would also result in tennis elbow or golfer's elbow For the average person, EZ100 is safer to play with, and full poly should be fine if you use a softer setup like Poly Tour Pro But don't think it would be great for most people with OHBH, though the slices is very nice . SW grip is ok, depends on your swing path, if you have quite an open racquet face and traditional stroke mechanics, it would work alot better with how thick the EZ100 is. Compact can still work, because it does generate some good power - but if you want more spin, good power, comfort and all, Clash V3 is also an option if you haven't though about that Thanks for your comments and support as always, Happy Holidays 🙂

Both the Ezone, Percept and Vcore work much better with lower tensions, 43, 40 lbs. I have been using Yonex for many years, and the best feeling is when we string them with 43 lbs. And Yonex is without a doubt the best brand of racket. Percept is the most enjoyable racket anyone can play, but it doesn't move the ball (I used 5g at 12 hours). The Ezone (I haven't tested the new model) moves the ball a lot, but with a very high RA, and I didn't use it precisely for that reason, and currently I play with 4 Vcore, which in my opinion is the middle ground between the Percept and Ezone, it spins well, fast, and has good control, I use 3g at 12 hours on each Vcore. I'm going to switch to the Ezone, because at 50 years old, my ball doesn't move as much as it did when I was younger (hehehe), and with this lower RA, it will be my next racket. However, I will use 53 lbs on the new Ezone, with Xcel, Biphase or Rexis speed. I use Vcore, Hyper G soft, 1.20 with 43 lbs. Before I used Smart 1.30 with 47 lbs. I liked the comments, straight, and this is what should be passed on to beginners or intermediates. And even at 50 years old, I still break A LOT of strings.. lol..The problem with me using multi is that the string doesn't last 2 sets...

Wicked INTRO! You like the feel? You are a rare KZbinr sir. Presenters LOVE bashing the Yonex for the antivibration tech. Only tried the VCore 97D (last year's) it was difficult returning the demo I have to say. That 2025 flexibility in the throat is where they used there Minolon silk. The highest tensile strength in a natural substance. Interesting you point that out candidly because flexibility enhances touch and feel, accuracy too if a well made racquet. That tells me Minolon works. You're getting oodles of pop on that 1 handed b/h. Is that you or the racket. Having seen you inject pace numerous times before, hunch your technique is a big factor. Your arm looks loose in this session, that's the way the V-Core 97 D felt, buttery smooth and painless. Made me want* to hit harder. That's a very big deal. Anyway I'm a Doubles player with a seemingly insurmountable problem. I want a '97,' 98, or maybe a '99. Not for power obviously it's the accuracy I know I'm lacking. Which would you prefer competing with an Ezone' 98, a Gravity '98, a Pure Strike' 98 or something else perhaps? Very good video, what the Easy One also encourages is aggressive consistency. I'm certain that's why Yonex is so popular these days. I haven't had a bagworm hit yet but just the strategy sounds to compound on Yonex's success. Easy, accurate, injury free power. Thank you comprehensive video, enjoyed it. 👍

Gosh, tough choices honestly, many things are good, i could easily move to another frame if i didn't have my main to fall back on. Depends on your swing type firstly The Strike 98, for me went too high swingweight and head heavier, didn't feel like that was the right direction, preferred the previous gen Gravity 98 there's not alot in between the 50-70% range, it wants you to swing swing swing, and can damage can be done as positively as it can negatively lol, but I'm a Gravity user so it comes pretty naturally at this point Honestly if i didn't have the previous EZ98, i'd pick this one up, because of the extra forgiveness, more than the average 98 these days, for personally i'd perform better as i'd be able to stay on top of the ball with less consequence - i can string tighter with no comfort issues if i need more control, and gives adequate amount of power - when i did swing out a bit more it definitely kept the ball down, felt completely fine to me, second nature I'm hearing good things about the new T-Fight though, i haven't personally used it, but apparently it's made the right changes, even in the mould

@ACTennis thank you for the information. Really enjoy your channel. At first I thought how am I ever going to interpret the reams of Info you are churning out, thank God for rewind 🫢 But you're really thinking it all through carefully, really appreciate that. Between the oil infused grommets and now the bagworm silk for more feel and power you're making a strong argument. The Solinco Whiteout and Blackout seem very popular if you haven't reviewed them. (I'll check). 2023 Pure Strike is actually better sounds like hmmm! That probably means next iteration will be in for some significant improvements. Biggest thing I noticed with my 2023 Gravity Pro was I could get more consistently good at depth around the baseline. That and the swinging needed to be attacking at earliest opportunity or you were in for an exhausting rally. Heavy racquet but sooo solid if returning from baseline to baseline. That's what gives me pause about Yonex Ezone is the plow through for deep shots will demo the '98 this year for sure. Good luck with your channel, it's great that your game is as good as your presentation. I feel like I know you better since your Cameo in Beckett's show on most if not all the tennis presenters on KZbin. That pace on your one hander still leaves me shaken, what a bomb! 😬 Your toss is a thing of beauty. For the one hander you might want to try this tinker. Tip the racquet head slightly FORWARD (25° or so) .. For some reason the ball seems to be in the slot longer and it's easier getting your body into the shot. It also feels like I get more control on the shot. A confidence booster for me at least. Always a plus in a longer slug fest. Thank you for your reply looking forward to your next review, great channel. Cheers! 👍

I could always tell there was extra power coming off from the 100, not to mention it being easier to hit, but I could never tell how much more and how penetrative it was. Too many demo videos are shot from one end of the court and give limited visual information about the playing characteristics but your video angles did a really great job in comparing the different functionality of the 2 head sizes, and even though this video pertains to the Yonex brand, you could still use it to demonstrate what one would expect to happen in other brands that supply models with a variation of head sizes. @ACTennis23 күн бұрын
The Vcore 100 would take longer for me to adjust because the isometric shape is so pronounced, whereas the Ezone 100 is a bit more normal to use - probably won't be getting as much free spin, but it's a powerhouse with stability as the core of everything - i did not get to spend alot of time with the VC100

Hey-I like your content and I *love* the way you hit. So, I ask what is your racquet of choice? I’m in a location where I can’t demo racquets, so I basically have to just take a flier if I want something new. I’ve been comparing my 2012 Wilson Pro Staff six 100, 2013 Babolat Aero pro Drive, and 2024 Yonex vCore 98, but even though they all are different, the results somehow are even. I’m just looking for one stick that makes a solid enough impression that I feel like it’s definitely for *me.*

Thank you for your thoughts about new EZONE How it compares with PureDtive?
@ACTennisАй бұрын
I mostly skipped the last generation Pure Drive, and last played with the 2018 one , bit hard for me to remember, but the string pattern is alot more open on PD, i think launch angle would be quite a bit higher, not nearly as comfortable (sounds like that could be changed for the new one coming), PD will still have higher top end power, because it's stiffer, and probably easier access to spin
@azure159Ай бұрын
Do you think that the Ezone 100 would be a good transition from the Percept 100D? I’m looking for more easy power and a slightly softer response but Im scared I would be sacrificing the things I love from the 100D which are stability on returns, directional control, and the feel on ball contact (servo filter vs vdm?)
@azure159Ай бұрын
Also I wanted to love the 2022 Ezone 98 (never tried 100) but never could dial it in. I dont have a super whippy, top spin heavy swing so I didn’t gel with the feeling of the ball rocketing off vs the 100D where I can feel where I hit the ball on the strings. Unsure if the new Ezones or the 100sq would play similar
@ACTennisАй бұрын
@@azure159 EZ100 has more stability, at a lighter weight, use a soft string and it should respond comfortably even with higher stiffness, directional control is all there -but i didn't even like the Percept 100D feel, thought it was fairly mid, and i didn't mind the feel on this one, but we may have different preferences. EZ100 doesnt use whippy swings because it's way too phat to be able to

Hi, great video! I've noticed that most of the ATP ezone users like Shelton and Ruud switched from the old V7 to the new V8, but Kyrgios is still playing with the V7 (at least today at the tournament in Brisbane). Can you think of any reason why he didn’t switch to the new one? Does the old one maybe suit his game better?
@ACTennisАй бұрын
@kibalix8823 Usually they arent switching but using the updated cosmetic to help sell the new one Ruud plays with an Ezone 100 from about 3 generations ago called the DR100+ , and Shelton is i think just playing with the Ezone 98 from 2022 with the new look Kyrgios is using the black paint, his Ezone 98 model is even older, maybe around 2012 period roughly called Xi98 - reason is likely that he thought the black one was cooler looking and preferred, and didn't like the loud bright cosmetic that the new one is
@kibalix8823Ай бұрын
@ ohh, thank you for the answer. So you‘re saying that they are still using older models that just get painted like the new ones? That’s very interesting! I didn’t know that before. But if I may ask something else. Why do the players stick to older models and not upgrade to newer ones? Aren’t the newer ones supposed to be better and an upgrade to the versions before?
@ACTennisАй бұрын
@kibalix8823 Yeah it's very common, it's because change in equipment of any sort can be a very big thing for a professional player, who has spent thousands of hours with what they have already, they know how the racquet will respond back to front and trust it completely If you decide to make a equipment change, it will take them a good while to 100% get used to it - it's not like they can't play well, but let's say when you are in a really pressured situation, and you don't trust your equipment, the confidence you have in your gear is where that will be the most important, not for all the other 98% of the matches and points So whilst yes sometimes the new racquets may in some sense be "better" or "easier to use", they are also at a completely different talent, skill and athletic level where the problems we face are not the same as them Also some people when changing equipment might not get used to it within 3-4 months they have to try a change, and because it's every sport is based on your own personal result, if you start losing a few matches you should be winning, you''ll probably want to switch back to what you know, so that it doesn't affect your results - so players can be scared to make the change also

@@nicolasX2602 If you like the current one, no need honestly, if you think there is a bit of a dead spot in the frame sometimes when you are playing intense (i.e drops short suddenly or launches more than you want) , thats where the extra forgiveness can come in, because even if you mishit, youll get more depth, more spin etc for free, just allows you to play marginally better overall for all the more difficult defensive points

@markhibbitt1269Ай бұрын
@The4.0Guy yes another vote for this from me!
@ACTennisАй бұрын
Sorry i forgot to reply lol - Think of the Percept 100 like a squared version of the Ezone, with similar playing characteristics. Ezone is going to suit a faster, whippier style swing, has the spin, power, forgiveness, everything you need. Percept 100 can compete quite well in all categories, it may need some additional static weight and swingweight to compete equally (because it comes in a lighter package) but instead Percept 100 is probably suited to players who prefer bigger, loopier, traditional style mechanics, because the 23mm beam is not going to move through the air as easy with the EZone style of swing As for 100D, same comments apply, but it's going to be lower launch angle, more stability and controlled in comparison to both EZ98 and Percept 100, maybe very marginal decrease in power potential since the pattern is more closed

@@ACTennis yeah dead on ,originally i thought the 100D would be better than the ezone 100 for me because i have a sensitive elbow and it seemed to play softer even though its RA is almost as high. But i found over time it felt sluggish or unwieldy somehow and i could not get completely comfortable with it. I tried adding weight to the handle to make it feel a bit whippier but it wasn't enough. The Percept 100D is underated in the power dept, at tensions in the mid 40's i found it could be a bit of a cannon, but sometimes too much depth without the ability to shape the ball due to sluggish maneouverability and tight string pattern.
