It's time to take 22 ARC the distance! I wanted to put together a versatile package for my new 22 ARC. We’ve taken a look at the UD Chassis in its shortest configuration with .308 Shorty in the UD3 and in its longest form - the UD7. Now we’re taking a look at the last variation of the UD chassis: the UD5. Check out the long range impacts in this video!

According to the newest Hornady manual rim diameters are as follows 6ARC .441”, 6.5G .438” and 7.62x39 .447”. Is the manual incorrect?

The chassis seems nice, but charging as much for that buttstock as the chassis is a total miss.

Nice build! So all I need is a barrel to convert one of my 7.62x39 Ar gas guns to 22 ARC? Is it the same extractor?

You need a Grendel type 2 bolt. You cannot use a 7.62x39 bolt. There is a difference between them. Please research for yourself before you try that. Lost of information out there

How close is it to 224 Valk? I favor AR compatibility and am more inclined to 6.8 parent case for a bit more meat on AR bolt.

Valkyrie rim diameter is .417", 22 ARC is 435".

In a bolt action .22 I would go for something in the BR case or maybe a necked down 6GT, necked down 6.5x47 or 22 Creedmoor. All of those will work better in regular size actions and should give more muzzle velocity or heavier/higher B.C. bullets for better ballistics and equally good brass options. At the same time, I wouldn't go with a .22 for "ELR". You need to see the splash from a miss when shooting ELR so bigger is better and 7mm is as small as I would go for anything approaching real ELR (minimum 1,500 yards or 1 mile).

Hard to comment about the 22 ARC if you don’t have it setting next to a 224 Valkryie. I can get around 2950 fps from a 75gr eld out of my 223 Wylde chambers with N540. Seems like a lot of work and $$ to get an extra 75 fps.

The thing that bothers me about hornady is they just take stuff that’s already there and put their name on like they did something Special. The 22 Grendel has been around a long time, shouldn’t even be called an ARC since they didn’t even use the case.

Shouldn't be mad that they make something commercially available and with standardized data. Wildcatters gonna Wildcat but they never seek SAMMI approval so more often than not, their work goes unnoticed.
