Why do mineral bezel that will scratch? Sapphire or ceramic would be much better and an aluminum bezel would be easier to replace.

@@vladpiranha Maybe but you have sapphire on the dial and mineral on the bezel so you are going to collect scratches around the dial. I would have much preferred ceramic which will not scratch. Failing that an aluminum insert which is cheap and easy to replace.

This is a great deal for a +/- 10secs/yr high accuracy quartz movement, 300m WR, and sapphire w/AR from a reputable brand for only $425. This would make a great nice gift for friends and family that are maybe not "into" mechanical watches, but would love a nice every day watch. I love that they came out with this great "mid-size" (at least mid-size to me) version of their diver. I wouldn't mind if the indices were a touch larger, but that is being very nitpicky. The blue especially looks great, and hopefully they will come out with a Powermatic 80 version later this year. I'm guessing that would be priced in the $650-750 range, which still isn't bad.

Nice review Chris. I have the 43mm blue dial version and love it, even with the T-bar seconds hand. It is a little large overall but I really like the wrist presence. This 40mm version with the ETA quartz movement is very nice, especially with the +/- accuracy of 10 secs per year.

Help my brain...I wear my apple watch daily but always drawn to other watches (yes, I have autos and quartz and divers)... I love the looks, sometimes I think quartz is really the best way to go for durability and ease. Autos aren't really too much work either, I compare it to "grab a quartz = grab loafer shoes" or "Grab an auto = you're lacing your shoes up/sneaker" in term of time. Sorry for the rant.

I was really into the 36mm version but something is off with the proportions on this one. Looks like they haven’t increased the size of the hourmarkers and those just seem too small for the bigger dial.

I've been a fan of the Seastar 1000 for quite a few years and have the old PM80 black version, The sunray dial is quite subtle but looks great. Tissot have not stood still though with these new versions. The date window although still at six is now framed and rectangular compared to mine that is more like a round port hole. The bezel insert apart from being mineral is a different design with more clear markings, my watch has chrome markings and a snipped 12 marker tip but in ceramic. The case side profile has also changed to a flat vertical brush and looses the rebate on the mid case. I'm not sure which I prefer yet. One improvement that might have made is to the bracelet clasp, mine is pressed but still works fine, a milled version with tool less micro adjust would be nice. Anyway mine has been consistent since the day I got some years ago, it looses around 5-7 seconds per day. Looking at the quartz movement it sounds like it may have taken some inspiration from the Longines VHP series that also has temperature compensation. Many thanks for sharing Chris, thanks for the heads up.

The mineral crystal bezel insert would be a deal breaker on an automatic fire me. The how have looks too short. Also the indices don't quite look dialed in quite right for aesthetice for this size dial. The whole thing doesn't quite look fine-tuned. But I'm glad they're finally adjusting away from the mostly passe trend of oversized watches. If you're going to make oversized that can't be your only size if you want to sell nearly as many as you otherwise could.

I like the look of these. It seems to fill a gap that Tag Heuer left of a good quality, reasonably priced Swiss quartz dive watch - Tag had the 2000 range & then the Aqua Racer, which they still have but is now overpriced. This Tissot is also 300m WR as the Tags were 200m

Was about to get the 36mm, then I saw it in a store and how it at half the markers didn't even nearly hit. So Tissot's QC seem to be below seiko at this price point in some magical way. Have a 5 year old PR 100 Tissot chrono that hits all the marks. But doesn't seem to be how Tissot does things anymore. Also hear others report that the majority of the seastars don't get close to hitting most the marks.

Just noticed Bloomingdales has the 43MM Tissot Seastar Powermatic 80 green dial version with mesh band reduced to $450. Would definitely purchase one at the price but many have said the 43mm version is a little too big. This 40MM version looks so much better even thought it's just a quartz watch. I would assume they would be coming out with an automatic version later in the year.

@@Klingonmastr If its too big or not all comes down to your body and wrist really my wrists are thin so I ended up with a Seiko Solar diver 38mm. I'm keeping it on all the time, something I didn't expect as saw it more as a tool watch with a egg timer to help me with my timeblindness, and figured I'd wear my automatic watches most the time. But it's the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. Especially with the Barton Elite Siclicon I put on it. Picked it up in the store I looked at the Tissot, I got it for 450 euros, same as the seastar cost. I would hesitate buying it over the internet however. I got it because I saw the alignment on this one was pretty spot on, something Seiko is not really known for being. Though I've heard people be surprised with pretty good statistics on QC on the solar divers. Also I know the bracelets on them are pretty seiko rattley, I bought a Uncle Seiko bracelet for the omega speedmaster that fits. But the quality was pretty bad, so I stick to the Barton Elite Silicon

@@Anirossa A lot of people say the 40MM Tissot PRX with its lug to lug width is too big but then it only weights 138 grams. While I like smaller watches, I also like watches that aren't too heavy. That is the very reason I bought a Seiko Alpinist because at 38MM it won't look big on my six inch wrist. I like the fact the bracelet on the Seiko comes with an actual milled clasp something you won't find on their cheaper solar and automatic watches. Even the Powermatic 80 version of the Tissot Seastar you get a bracelet with a stamped clasp. That makes the watch feel cheap.
