"The Conversation" is also available in Germany on 4K. The German title is "Der Dialog". It doesn't have any weird collectible thingamajigs, but it only costs 28 Euros because of that.

Perhaps fortunately here in Australia, 'The Conversation' had the same Studio Canal release as a single disc. So perhaps import from here if anyone is interested - it EXACTLY the same 4K disc as the UK set !

If you want The Conversation as a standard 4K you might want to import the German Edition, which is identical but comes in a Scanavo case instead of these oversized fugly boxes.

I agree with your comments on Zone of Interest. I felt it lacked much development of the story beyond the early scenes, and for me that’s a problem. I’d be happy to watch it again in due course to see if I pick up anything more. I’m not hopeful about that. I’m still not sold on 4K generally. You’ve not mentioned any on-disc extras for these releases, so I’m not sure if that means there’s nothing special, nothing at all or what was on previous blu ray discs. Art cards will never draw me to a release, whereas on-disc extras could do. I’d be grateful if you mentioned the on-disc extras when reviewing releases, Elliot, whether 4K, blu ray or even dvd.

It’s usually just in the interest of time that I skip them because I lose my voice if my recording goes too long, but there’s some good stuff on these discs. Rumor has it Warner Bros will be releasing a 4k of Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut. Criterion really dropped the ball not putting out Barry Lyndon on 4k.

I loved the conversation release the cassette tape was a nice touch, still have my old tape desk and the score is good, I didn't think it sounded awful. Don't forget the Criterion 4K of Malcolm X has a full booklet as well.

I just bought new UK 4K release of Heathers from Arrow Films. They did a wonderful job with the restoration of this classic :-)

Do people really want/need such a large boxset of the Conversation. Some of these releases are aimed at fans, but if you just want the novie dont buy this, not everyone REALLYlove this movie, sad thing us the labels do not know their fans, and the tape like why ?

Same goes for those "steelbook only" releases...most people don't like steelbooks, I myself really HATE them and it's always so frustrating to see these as the only option...I mean just give me a normal release with a slipcover (that's a must!) or use the Scanavo cases - don't understand why these haven't become the standard already

Always interesting hearing you talk about movies Elliot. But.as.i mentioned before I'm not a 4.k guy and it's fine.with me to still enjoy a fine bluray produced in 2010. Ok 4k are for some people but man they are the same movies released before on bluray. There are a ton movies not released yet on bluray and very hard to find a watchable copy of them. These are the kind of movies I would pay big bucks for them not 4k again. There are especially 2.movies I'm craving for their physical media release because they didn't even have a VHS release. They are 1-The appointment (1967) by Sidney lumet starring.omar sharif And 2- Justine , starring anouk Aimee and.micheal York. Measure on that hundreds of other movies not available. Anyway always enjoy the power of the images 👍
