Emirates is one of the largest airlines in the world, but what does the future entail? Does it include hundreds of new aircraft, major interior upgrades, fleet retirement, an airport move, or all of these things and more? Today, I explore Emirates's future in 2024.

While I do agree with emirates frustrations with the 777X, it’s better off to delay the aircraft entry into service, than having the aircraft rushed
@jpazinho
@jpazinho Ай бұрын
No questions there...however, you have to ask yourself - would Emirates buy any a350 if Boeing was able to deliver the 777x on time? I sincerely think the answer is no....and the longer this delay continues, more likely other companies will follow....
@jantjarks7946
@jantjarks7946 Ай бұрын
It sure makes no sense to rush a plane design. However, at one point we will have to ask if the manufacturer actually has the necessary competences in order to introduce new plane designs in the first place. With Boeing it increasingly looks like they don't. And it raises more questions.
@user-yt198
@user-yt198 Ай бұрын
The issue is not rushing 777X at all. The prototype of 777X is there, already flying. The problem is Boeing is not able to assign enough engineering workforce to finalise the certification. Boeing assigned their engineers to MAX7 and MAX10 instead. Emirates' money is no less valuable than MAX customers. If I were Emirates CEO I would complain as well. And something to note, there are no American airlines waiting for 777X, but there are several for MAX7 and 10.

Boeing has faltered on manufacturing and certifying new jets amid oversight and close scrutiny from regulators. Therefore, it is understandable that such delivery delay would be met with sharp rebuke from a major client such as Emirates with over 100 777X in the order book.

They have to certify the 737-7 & 373-10 first -> that’s where most $$$$$ is for Boeing to survive financially. They have work force problems too They also produced only 4 prototypes for the 777X certification program & only one is flying

I am wondering if Emirates will buy or has bought up some of the younger retured A380s and refurbish their cabins? Is the second hand A380 market still so, cheap?

Emirates is the airline who pushed Boeing to develop 777X in the first place. Maybe they should have ordered more A380s instead. They are doing pretty good with A380s. Or maybe they should have pushed Airbus for A350-2000 with GE engines.

Why should Airbus be interested in an A350-2000 with GE engines, when GE rejected overtures from Airbus to power the A350-1000? What a bizarre idea. Especially with full order books. When the XWBs are uprated as promised by RR, we'll see how they then compete with the B777X. I suspect that its not just time on the wing for the-97 that will be improved, the first XWB was run in 2010, and that's plenty of time to make all round design improvements. However, nobody knows now for certain, but if Boeing and GE are not having sleepless nights worrying about what might be in this RR package of improvements, versus the continued certification delays for the 777X, then they're not human. Hang on, that might be the case anyway....😀😀

@@artrandy If you make a little research you will see that Airbus and GE already made talks about re-engining A350 with GE engines between 2019-2021. These talks didn't come to any fruition, but if they had a sizeable order in hand, it could have been different. Nobody rejected nobody's ouvertures. These are corporations, not flirting young people. They don't act emotionally. They act financially 😉

If Emiratesvreally wants to hold on to an A380 type plane they could buy Antonov once the Ukraine Russia conflict is over. Marshalls in Cambridge was for a long time the premier reconditioner for DC10s and later B747s. Emirates already has a Repair and Overhaul site, looking after their aircraft fleet. This function could be taken on by a re-vitalized Antonov. Antonov could then go on to have a business reconditioning used A380s. This coupd give them the experience to rework the widebody aircraft designs and become civil avaiation aircraft manufacturer for super large aircraft. After they want to rebuild the A225 Myria. There ought to be some synergies. Also that would allow a combined design for a Passenger and Freight plane that the A380 has completely failed to deliver. I think this will be the only way Emirates can keep having a double decker aurcraft in their fleet. It gives them enormous publicity and the passengers love the experience.
@d.b.cooper1
@d.b.cooper1 Ай бұрын
I feel like a lot of Emirates lack of diversification to A350 option was always partly poltical. We all know how key Boeing is an export of the USA often discussed in key trade talks. With their A380s Emirates needed to maintain the USA relationship hence the all in nature of the 777x order imo. These things help curry favour in Washington along with usual lobbyists for things like war with Yemen back in mid/late 2010s when orders were made.

The Boeing debacle is quite revealing of the corporate rot (i.e. dividends over safety/profits over people) which has destroyed the Boeing brand. Any airline that cares for the safety of its passengers should buy Airbus airframes until this problem is solved by either a nationalization of Boeing of a sale to a more responsible owner.

I wonder why STC believes the GE9X (777-9) will provide much better on-wing life than the Trent XWB-97 (A350-1000)?
@user-yt198
@user-yt198 Ай бұрын
GE9X is higher bypass ratio version of GE90 that has proven itself for more than 20 years in every environment, including Middle East. Trent XWB-97 is overclocked version of XWB-84 (A350-900) with the same geometry but run at higher temperature and pressure. Tim Clark got on-wing data from Qatar which has similar environmental conditions as Dubai. RR CEO Erginbilgic also acknowledges that XWB-97 requires improvement for "non-benign" environments and said they are already working on it.

My next generation of fear is Airbus becoming complacent and cutting corners on QC and speed of aircraft delivery to reap more and more orders.
