Was waiting on your detailed analysis of this fragrance. Very spot on review. I tested this awhile back and I fell in love at first sniff since I love jubilation 25. Definitely getting a full bottle soon. Great review as always Ramtin!

What a fantastic essay. I've been silently following you for a while and I'm always interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks to you, I've discovered Pana Dora and I've even had the guts of getting Grand Musk even though I'm usually wary of musk and it's become a mainstay for me. Thank you! As for J40, I love it as well, I find it's a deeper, slightly sweeter and more animalic XXV. I'm an admitted Amouage fan though. ;)

@@rvmvadatiI would really like to see you review the scents by Marc Antoine Barrois, particularly Ganymede, and some of the scents by Ormonde Jayne, particularly Nawab of Oudh, Montabaco/Montabaco Intensivo and the various Montabaco flankers and Ambre Royal and its stronger version Royal Elixir. Also MFK’s L’Homme a la Rose and Oriento by Jeroboam, I’m not aware that you have reviewed any of the above already.

I have both, I love both, but I wear them in different seasons. Jubilation 40 is only for cold winter days, Jubilation XXV can be worn in all but hot days/nights. If I could only have one, it's Jubilation 40; however, if I had a much smaller collection, it'd be Jubilation XXV.

another terrific exposé on perfumery - many thanks. I’ve owned and quite enjoyed Jubilation XXV for several years and am fortunate to own now Jubilation 40. as with every comparison, I find there are multiple likenesses and differences, but one of the standout differences to my nose is that Jubilation 40 is mildly mentholated. perhaps my nose perceives this fragrance uniquely in this or perhaps I’m mad, but I smell menthol every time and I very much find it to be a handsome facet of Jubilation 40. I’d appreciate other perspectives.

The mentholated nuance indeed aligns with the green and soil notes, and you've accurately identified that connection. As highlighted in the video, this distinctive touch is attributed to the presence of Scotch Broom, Blackcurrant, and a triple dose of Patchouli and oak moss! The combination of blackcurrant, scotch broom, patchouli, and oakmoss can contribute to a green note with a mentholated quality, resembling the essence of green soil which that was my main concentration in this video!

I think the main thing with this perfume is spray it at a long distance (maybe even while laying down?), just because I noticed the smell to be disgusting if it hits your body with little dispersion. Just too concentrated / overly heavy honey-like smell with slight tobacco / earthy notes, just smells way too heavy if you spray it incorrectly. It smells much better when it's well dispersed on a greater area, the atomizer doesn't spray well because of the oil concentration, so it takes some effort to spray it right. Easily can go from a 2/10 fragrance to a 9/10 depending how well you spray it.

The ink/moss/patchouli combo really made this much more camphorous/medicinal for the first hour on my skin. Darker, denser and far less interesting to me than 25. Not a hit for me.
