From the close up of the cockpit it look's like it was another AC unit operating that. Which feel like it will be a occurring thing with some opposing AC units being attached to bigger machinery much like the other trailer showed a AC unit having some sort of hovering roll cage missile launcher attached to it.

Bit of a nerd moment here but; 3:54 This tiny moment in this trailer with the slow head rise, That scene is almost a redux from the head model "REDEYE" from the Armored Core 1's beginning cutscene, only difference this time around is we get to see all the mech combat action before the build montage. Would not be surprised if that cutscene leads into a "outfit your mech" tutorial, I'm all for it looks good so far.

I have a feeling that our character and the "600s" in Alpha Squad are clones genetically engineered so our bodies are just lifeless husks, living corpses, but our brain being highly developed, and cybernetized to pilot Armored Cores efficiently and obediently a la whatever the Augmented Human program really is (mirroring the Human Plus program of 1st abd 2nd Gen). We might even have the memories or at least combat memories shared between our deceased "siblings" and us, probably uploaded between missions or upon asset recoverybafter death. And that we might actually be clones of the legendary pilot, the previous owner of the callsign Raven, who I suspect Walter is very familiar with. Or and this might be the biggest stretch, he might actually have been before he became a Handler.

It's not that much of a stretch that walter is the raven if you look at the shadow and see that he's walking with a stick. He may have been a legendary pilot that either got old enough that he's not needed anymore, or just got injured by something and just outright cant pilot, so they used him as the base of a clone and had him become the "Handler" because well, if they're a clone of him he can mold them more easily. Again who really knows, we'll just have to find out.

​@@Code_KaiI've seen a lot of the game play from the demo event and what Walter says in the first mission is "if we get our hands on Rubicon's coral we'll make a killing, plenty for a merc with a fried brain to buy his life back". The whole statement makes it seem like your character isn't a clone, but instead a junkie with a lot of debt.

Interestingly, you'll note the machine wakes up while the body is _still on the table_ and right after the plugs have been pulled. Which could be an artistic thing admittedly... but another thing to consider is that the pilot's 'name' is 621. 6+2+1= _9_. And the chassis design has a very close visual profile to one Nineball, a infamous AI piloted AC. So... there's implications that our character might be less a corpse in in a cockpit, and more a full out uploaded infomorph. A ghost in a shiny new shell. Something that could help provide in universe justification for the respawn mechanics we know are included in the story.

more like a cyborg since there is a mission where you are out of your cockpit having to commandeer an old AC to escape meaning 621 is at the very least capable of independent movement, heck why do you think Walter sends you alone without a maintenance crew of sorts its almost like he is expecting you to do everything solo like upgrading and swapping your AC parts, so no you are not a dreadnaught or a ghost you are simply an experimented freak(which is what everyone in game calls you) trying to buy his normal life back which probably implies a full regeneration treatment which would pobably cost a lot of money and take a lot of time which is why Walter opted to field you out to Rubicon probably with temporary fixes like an exo skeleton or surgical implants to help you move because he is on the rush and he can't wait for you to fully recover which is why our damaged brain can communicate with Ayre a coral life form, the debt you have to pay is probably for the advanced guarantee that you are getting full regenerative treatment once the mission is done so people will no longer call you a freak

What I'm wondering at the moment is: Where is 618? 617 blows up to finish the mission 619 dies from the massiv plasma beam 620 dies by the big tank AC plasma shotgun 621 is the main guy (us)

618 might have been bought by another handler or perhaps he already died in a previous mission or was assigned to another mission. interestingly enough. out of 617, 619 and 620. Only of them actually is confirmed to be dead. The first one to get shot down, which was 620, I think was the only where the voice said "Vitals lost" the other were simply "lost" or down, implying the pilots might still be alive.

Lost is a pretty clear indicator, just a shortned "vitals sign lost". but yeah 617 could be still alive. i think the "blow up" was just an overpowered EMP strike, like the one in the other trailer. just overpowered or last action after he took so much beating.

As 621, we can get out of our mech. The garage is also from our perspective, and later in the game, you are walking through the sewers and climbing into an old, rusted-out Armored Core.

Ok, but really, Gunpla style models from this game will slap! Look how much movement there is in trailer! Panels revealing radiators and parts adjusting as they move... Even if not for game, models by Bandai itself will be worth it all

Honestly, it makes sense that so many would be mercs are in debt to undergo what may be the human plus program extension. Coral is used as an addictive drug right? Perhaps you were also one and have debts to pay, or you’re paying for someone else’s. If you’re familiar with Altered Carbon, maybe your real body is held as collateral until they get their investment back(your debt). Is this the same timeline, or no?

there's a part in the game where you commandeer an abandoned ancient BAWS AC after being captured by Arquebus meaning 621 isn't a lifeless corpse he still has some range of movement, his body is just heavily damaged and his brain is fried which is why for some reason we can communicate with coral lifeforms like Ayre because Coral particles are forcefully repairing our brain and inserting itself telepathically much like how in the Xylem colony ship mission the coral in the atmosphere is providing your AC with infinite thrust, besides its dumb to send a vegetable alone on a mission without a crew for maintenance like what if something goes wrong with your AC or your body condition worsens it would mean no one is going to help you meaning 621 is functional, he is capable of independent movement so much so that he can change parts for his AC and he does all this without the presence of his handler Walter being present and only communicating to you a lone mercenary from a successful batch of experimental mercs keep in mind that the people in game call you a freak and discriminate you all the time other than the fact that you are a hound for Walter when Walter said it can buy you your life back it probably means a full regenerative treatment which is expensive as all heck and time consuming which is why Walter has paid for it in advance in exchange you carry out his mission since he is part of an organization called the overseers thats only goal is to burn the coral to make sure it doesn't contaminate space especially at the time when corporations and the PCA are finally coming back to Rubicon to mine it without knowing that it could very well mean the end of the universe because fck the environment profits matter more thus you had to be fielded early which is why in this trailer Walter doesn't care about your state because he needs you now more than ever you are his favorite hound and probably the last augmented hound he has left especially after you and the rest of the 600 series of hounds were wiped out in the trailer, my guess is you are essentially a cyborg now probably like Anakin without the vader suit you got either an exo skeleton or a cybernetic implant that helps with your mobility to make you function normally to some degree while still retaining your piloting capabilities as a 4th gen, in short no you aren't playing as a dreadnaught you aren't a corpse in an AC coffin you are simply an experimented freak trying to buy his normal life back whichever normal is to you which is being a Raven in this universe

Getting VERY heavily in debt and getting turned into company property as a result was a thing back in the PS1 era (I haven't played past that yet so I don't know if it continued to be a thing past that,) so I imagine that's part of it. You and all the people who died in the trailer are enhanced debt slaves.

Question: i just discovered Armored Core a couple weeks ago because of a music vid and while it looks awesome i wonder, does it have a story to follow? because I'm the kind of dude that has to play a story from the begining. I guess in short, if i want story, can i play any armored core or should i begin sfrom the start?
