Id love to hear what Arri thinks is ”affordable” 😅

Sure! Ensō Prime lenses start at €10,900 per lens and will intially be available in a kit of six with the Ensō Vintage Elements.

The Ensō lens is stunningly attractive and lightweight! I admire the thinking behind them; it must have required everything from your firm to get perfect.💯
@NickLangerАй бұрын
For those complaining about the affordability--go form a relationship with your local rental house! Ask if you can try them and rent them for a project. Glass is an investment in the engineering, support, and longevity. They're not meant to be cycled out within a few years like some other lenses/lens manufacturer products at the price point you may be referring to. ARRI is not catering to people who are "rich"--they just prioritize that their products are optimized/tailored to performance over price. "Affordable" may not be the word that ARRI's marketing team is looking for, but in terms of relativity for this previously proven and stated quality point, it's not far off.

Some people rather own than rent their kits
@reynoldsc27 күн бұрын
Whilst Nick you have some good points here, Arri are waaaay out of step with the marketplace at this moment in time. Rental houses are going out of business because of the drop in price of equipment. Gone are the days when you have to hire full camera packages and expensive lights and the market is much more of an even playing field for 'owner operators'. What i will say is Cooke made the dramatic but brilliant move to bring lightweight affordable lenses to the market in the SP3's. To be able to have the 'Cooke look' for under £20,000 for a five lens set is the way the market's going and the sales of the SP3's have shown they made the right decision. Arri always make brilliant products for sure but in 2024/25, their price points in a democratised market place is just bad marketing.
@RodrigouzMantono8 күн бұрын
Arri lenses are built for rental houses, not necessarily owner operator, but exceptions apply. These lenses are indeed affordable. For instance,these lenses are half the cost of the signature primes. For those who want that Arri look but don’t necessarily need a lens as fast as the signature primes or want something more compact, then these lenses would cut your productions lens rental costs in half!!

Stunning image! I'd love to try these on a budget camera. The step up in my image going from ultra budget Meike Cine lenses to Zeiss Milvus Primes on my MBPCC 4K was astonishing. Still Arri's idea of 'small' and 'affordable' is all relative isn't it!

Get yourselves a set of cooke sp3’s, DZO Arles Primes or even the Thypoch Simera-C’s if you absolutely HAVE to buy an affordable set. All of them, excellent lenses. Otherwise I would recommend to just rent the Enso’s until you can finally buy them. Ooooor if you desperately want to buy one Enso, just rock one single focal length. My favorite is definitely the 40mm. Cheers

Gotta love the Set. The close Focus is beautiful even though this is a cheap Cinelens-Set. They are reasonably compact; Maybe a little heavy. A very versatile set. For people that find them to be expensive: There are other offerings that could still suit your needs. Please allow me to make this point though: Even the old T2.1 Arris for 35mm were good enough, to be cheap to rent and readily available, but offer quite the quality, people literally shot award winning movies and shows on them. This set is not meant for the democratization of Cine-Lens ownership, but it enables people to rent high quality Cinelenses cheaply and them still being very versatile in their creativity. If you were born in a country with low wages / wealth, i'm sorry. You may have an unfair disadvantage. Close Focus of ENSO Lenses: 10,5mm CF: 0.27m 14mm CF: 0.27m 18mm CF: 0.20m 21mm CF: 0.22m 24mm CF: 0.23m *28mm CF: 0.23m* *32mm CF: 0.25m* 40mm CF: 0.28m 47mm CF: 0.32m *58mm CF: 0.36m* 75mm CF: 0.43m *105mm CF: 0.59m* 150mm CF: 0.77m 250mm CF: 1.3m Lenses in *bold*, i feel, have an especially nice CF for what they would be used on set for. 18-105 being T2.1 14 + 150 being T2.5 10.5 + 250 being T2.8

Can I ask what inspired the name Ensō? A really different naming scheme this time!
@ARRIChannelАй бұрын
Hi there, Ensō is the name for a form of Zen Buddhism meditation, which has a lot of parallels to the ability for these lenses to simply perform and let you, as an artist, get on with being creative. We have a whole page dedicated to the naming concept at arri.com/enso
@inv1cmajАй бұрын
I agree they are affordable for FF LPL lenses with lens data. If you are making a high end film all the hours put into making the film by all those involved totally dwarf the cost of these lenses.

am i missing something or T, minimum focus distance, flare resistance, CA etc are not specified in this video? will there be a real tour about these lensesin the future?
@ARRIChannelАй бұрын
Hey there - all of the technical detail is available at arri.com/enso. Ensō lenses are T2.1 between 18 mm and 105 mm, and have exceptional CA resistance and flare reduction - but when they do flare they are a little stronger than Signature Primes. We hope you get the opportunity to test them soon!

This is interesting. We own the Signature Primes and love them. The compliments from our commercial clients are non-stop (of course, full credit to our DoP here as well). I'm wondering how the Enso's complement the Signature Primes. My first take is that they will work well for mid-tier budget projects, and, given their weight, documentary work.

Will there also be a solution for Sony E-mount?

What are u thinking about… they are always PL/LPL mounts
@ARRIChannelАй бұрын
E-Mount to LPL adapters are available from many manufacturers, just make sure you check for compatability with Ensō Vintage Elements before use. We would recommend a mount support for all ARRI lenses if using E-Mount, which isn't designed for cine lenses.

What is Difference between supreme prime and Enso prime ?
@ARRIChannelАй бұрын
We can't speak to Supreme Primes, as they're not made by ARRI, but compared to the Signature Primes the Ensōs are lighter, smaller and have a more diverse range of looks thanks to the Ensō Vintage Elements. The Signatures are faster, and have a more sophistocated look synonymous with high-end motion picture filmmaking, such as incredibly smooth out of focus rendition. Both complement each other nicely!

I would be careful when you say things that aren't objective like "affordable". Yes they might be more affordable to rent, or to movies with a budget, but definitely not to the average videographer/DP who owns their own gear. I hope you'll take the lead from Cooke next time who is a standard in the industry as well, and who created affordable lenses that are half the cost of this release.
@thatcherfreemanАй бұрын
Fwiw cooke got criticized for outsourcing their lens manufacturing to China, but otherwise these lenses are like a third the cost of the Cooke S8 or the signature prime, so its really a relative measure there in that segment of the market.
@germandisla728120 күн бұрын
@@thatcherfreeman that makes sense. Either way I think we continue to win as the consumer of this stuff when things become more and more affordable to more people at the end of the day.

Brands like Dulens make APO cinema lenses for around $1000, but you ARRI do you really think your lenses are worth 10 or 11 times more? You are like Leica. You sell products for rich artists.

Arri is the picture brand for diminishing returns. Like a supercar or a penthouse suite. At the end of the day anyone can drive to an apartment for a fraction of the price. Is a Bugatti Chiron worth 87 Dacias when you can only drive the speed limit to the supermarket? Up to you I guess
