Good video! 1. How did you know the restrictions or limitations/requirements for design of speed bump? 2. What brand and type of paint did you use on the asphalt? 3. What was the rough cost to the customer to perform this or how did you charge (total not to exceed or?)?

Good Questions! 1- The client wanted something that would slow down the vehicles speeding through but not too high where it will damage cars. We installed the speed bumps at approx. 3-4" in height. We normally do them in widths of 2-3'. If the client wants them wider than it would be more of a speed hump which I will film and post those as well soon. 2 - The paint I am using is from Sherwin Williams "Set Fast". There is Oil Based Paints, Water Based Paints and Promar Paint with Low VOC. 3 - When charging clients for these it all depends on the quantity you are doing. If i was doing only 1 speed bump like this it would normally be a minimum charge $1000-$1200. We installed 8 double speed bumps around this complex so a good price would be approx. $800 each double speed bump.

Can you install speed bumps without cutting the existing asphalt?
@JeffLepard5 жыл бұрын
Its not a good idea to do that because in the winter the plows with take the speed bumps out.

Nicely done. Where do you get your ashphalt?

Usually at Crupi, G.I.P. or Forest. Thanks for watching!

It is my old complex! What a small world!

Debbie Guthrie crazy isn't it! We put speed bumps all over the complex and 1 convex mirror.

Hey Jeff! Just wondering about the prep work. Is putting fresh asphalt over top of existing asphalt just an adhesion issue? It would save a lot of labour to sawcut/remove.

+Cam Roberts thanjs for watching! So putting asphalt over existing asphakt for a speed bump may or may not last. Especially depending where you live and if you get any snow. The snow plows normally will tear into the speed bumps destroying them if they are capped on top. Whenever installing these speed bumps i always either tear out both layers of asphalt if there is or at least the top layer. I have some some speed bump repair work where i just added ss1 glue and capped on top and it worked fine.

Speed Bumps never work and always a waste of money because you can always change out your suspenion system to a compensate for the speed bump (bigger tires work wonders on speed bumps).
@user-pz1bc9bc6o4 жыл бұрын
Hehehehehe, your killing me ! lol... why did you cut it out and remove it, the existing pavement was in good condition , key way and emulsify it and pave it, less time and less work and more effective, and it could be a little wider with lower crown, you want to slow them down not hurt them. it's still good , I like it. your way works, Kudos...
@JeffLepard4 жыл бұрын
Yes that would work as well you can do that I've done those before that way. Most of the guys here do it this way even after fully paving a new parking lot the speed bumps are installed another day cutting that section out. Yup a wider / lower one we install speed humps we call them here. I will do a video on those as well as next season! Thanks so much for watching the videos I love hearing how different methods are done that's awesome!
