I still absolutely love my USGI M1 Carbine, but this would be a nice shooter to get in addition to my National Postal Meter Carbine. I do have some gun grease ready to be used when I do eventually break it down and service it. I've been a little shy about tearing into an 80 year old firearm, but I have field stripped it and it looks great. It is also extremely accurate at the indoor range that I tested it out at.

I have always wanted an M1 Carbine. Such handy little guns. I have been contemplating one of these Auto Ordnance M1s, as I've heard they are the better of the newer carbines out there. You gave some great input about greasing the raceways and adjusting the castle nut. Lots of people tend to talk about how unreliable carbines are, but never how any solutions. Thanks for that. I will keep both of those things in mind when I finally get mine.

If you want a carbine to shoot. A-O is the way to go. G.I. carbines are all 80+years old.

basically ballistically speaking, a 110 grain 357 magnum great cartridge!

@jacobcelo7040 Unreliable because they don't do the maintenance on them and the mags. A bolt disassembly tool is a must. These are the solutions. Mine is a USGI surplus GM Inland and it runs as long as I do my part keeping it that way. If I don't then it won't run. Yes its old and is not as accurate as it once was but its accurate enough and still runs.

I love my M1Carbine Auto Ordinance. I swiped the flip sight for a winged adjustable and added a bayonet lug to mine. Makes a great PDW and hiking woods/vehicle carbine

My Universal works great I love it. I can turn the gas block around and it goes to bolt action only. It throws brass so far away otherwise so I don't mind cycling the bolt manually.

Burgin did you say? Burgin, KY? I thought I spotted the stack from the electro plant on the horizon at KY and Dix.

The problem I have had with Auto ordinance M1 carbines was they originally only had a single bolt spring while USGI carbines had one on each side.

G.I. carbines only have one op spring. Some universals have two.

You are thinking about the Universal brand. They are not really true M1 Carbines for that reason. I sold my Universal when realized that a decade ago when it was having problem and the gunsmith could not get parts to fix it be because internally if was double spring and you could not use M1 Carbine replacement parts for it.

I still love the M1 Carbine. I would like to see a head to head vs The Henry Homesteader. I think it's the modern M1 Carbine

@70selvisfan Only the bolt and it requires a bolt disassembly tool. The standard field strip is no problem.

I've wanted one for awhile, but the ones I've seen are out of my price range. But groceries are out of my price range in this bidenomic era

I was attracted to the M1 due to its history and (then affordable ammo) after saving and waiting I finally found one sadly it has the Choalte folding stock and ammo got pricey

I probably would have redone the video with the person talking on the phone in the background. I just wouldn’t have people around on the range with me who are going to be a distraction while I’m making videos, it would irritate the crap out of me.

I have a Bullseye Carbine that is actually accurate! The bolt hold open is missing the pin. Would you happen to guesstimate what a gunsmith would charge for this fix? I saved this video, first time I heard anyone breakdown the nuances of the carbine, Thanks!
