There is absolutely nothing generic about Band-Maids music, that is for sure. They definitely don’t take the easy route. This is what makes them to me one of the best bands out there now.

"What an epic song" , hilariously stated just before Kanami's perhaps best/longest solo, now what can you say lol?? Epic squared, epic to infinity, epic to infinity and beyond? Yeah man it's tough we have all run out of superlatives long ago. I will say that you hit it perfectly for your first " as released timing" Band Maid reaction, cuz even tho I have no favorites, this one really hits home HARD. OK maybe a slight fav.

What's amazing about all of their newer music, they have been adding multiple guitar layers and many vocal layers in the studio recordings, but at the same time, Kanami already has an arrangement in hand for playing live with two guitars and two vocals and it still sounds rich and dense with minimal backing tracks other than some synth or piano. Magie is a good example from the latest album. Epic Narratives has this composition and performance style. The EP due out this year will continue it undoubtedly. The Dicodec YT channel has a great look at Zen with isolated tracks and it is amazing how much complexity is folded into this song.

Great reaction, a very complex song, lyrics match the anime story line. Notice the little pigeon is giving her feathers a chance to recover. Notice also that Saiki's vocals seem to be raw, no pitch correcting that I can hear, her voice sounds so real in this song, not perfect, you can hear the imperfections that make her voice so compelling.

Even the casual anime fan will be worn down by Band Maid's relentless theme music. They'll begin to realize they know Band Maid much better than they realized. All it takes is ONE epic song to cause someone to revisit a band they initially dismissed ! 🤯

To the point where, when they drop new music, the only question you have is... just how much will I be amazed this time? Once you understand the story of the anime, it's about an anime artist who literally works herself to death only to wake up in the story she was working on. Consider this to resonate as a protest song with the Japanese audience.

You’re right on about Band Maid requiring headphones! I hate seeing reactors watching without them. Sure it’s still a good experience but you’re missing a lot! Even with headphones you can’t catch everything going on without multiple listens.
