Been excited to get my hands on this weird looking blade for quite some time! The new Bauer ADV with a hole in the blade!
Why the hole? What does it do for shot power? Does it affect stickhandling or shooting ability? All these answered in the video. Enjoy!

Use the stick for your games for a month or two, then review it and examine the blade (honestly). I get it that Bauer want you to give it a nice review, but any stick out of box feels snappy. I'd like to see the top of the blade after getting slashed after 10 games.

Chase Kirby This is a public rink in the east side of Toronto called Withrow park. I can think of at least 5-6 rinks within 10-20 minutes of this one, just in one neighbourhood alone (Jimmy Simpson, Greenwood, Monarch, Riverdale, Dieppe, Kew Gardens) Some rinks are much more busy than others. All have great ice though 👌

Joshua Haubrick ...do you play hockey? If so, you'd know that even if you tape it, the tape will not absorb the impact repeatedly of receiving passes, salshing, stick lifting, skate blades cross it in battles, etc...if there is a hole behind it, the hole doesn't hold the tape. This is a gimmick that won't last imo. I'd like to see this stick after a few months use. Ipso facto the blade has less structural integrity that a full blade. Take 1000 slappers with this twig then check its condition.

Back in the 70's growing up in Saskatchewan hockey was a religion. This stick reminds me of how we cut out our blades to play with sponge pucks. Picture it without the part above the slot and the tip level with the bottom of the slot. It added a definite whipping effect. Nice skills by the way 👍

I was experimenting and did this to a few wooden sticks when I was a kid, just to make it lighter and to look cool. I had durability problems with mine though, however, I should have patented it. :) I also drilled holes on the midsection part on goalie sticks to make them lighter too - feel free to steal that idea too :)

I’m glad I found this: I invented the slot technology thru Christian bros. The stick was called the rinker. The rinker was designed for ball hockey, still the best design ever for using a ball. As ball hockey was becoming more popular the stick was made of Deleon plastic, I tried in vain to convince Christian to make a graphite design for high end players, they wanted a low end market stick. I wish I had pushed my patent more to this stick and the ball version. I still have a prototype graphite version of the rinker. I was well ahead of the time.

Twobarpsi no it won’t. Cut it from the front of the blade (the side you shoot with) and the part that was covering the hole now sticks to the back of the blade. The excess tape will be high up enough to not affect a backhand shot. Use heat (from a lighter, torch or stovetop flame) to get the adhesive on the tape to stick better if needed. Feeding 5 feet of tape thru the hole would be a pain in the ass.

One issue I can see if there was no tape would potentially be a stick check might get the sticks caught up. Under normal play though, I doubt that much tape would come off.

Tim Letwin I curious to see how that thing catches saucer passes and low flying pucks. I imagine after a few games your tape job would be fucked up bad

Neat , I see a lot of people saying it won't catch on but maybe some day something will and I will be a game changer just like Stan Makita with the curved blade, fiberglass reinforced wood sticks and all the way to modern one piece sticks . Maybe telescopic sticks will be the next thing

If the hole was in the middle that would be pretty cool potentially for ball hockey. It would make it a bit like a floor ball stick which would give better control.

If you tape it traditionally, doesn't that kind of reduce the bottom part of the blade's ability to flex as much as it could? It's not like the tape is a super solid structure, but I still feel it could partially inhibit the entire purpose of the design. I would tape the bottom part, looping through the hole, and then the top part, also looping through. To leave the hole intact, and the upper and lower separate.

THIS CONCEPT CAME OUT IN THE 70S WITH MULTIPLE SMALL HOLES IN THE BLADE, THEY CALLED IT, "AIR FLOW."... IT DIDN'T CATCH ON THEN AND IT WON'T CATCH ON NOW... IF IT AINT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT.

Curious about the durability of the top half of the blade. Face offs, a chop down or even a chop up with a stick check might snap the thin part of the blade???
