Just opened a bottle of Stellum bourbon. Fantastic at $55 and even better with a drop of water. So glad Barrell has a competitive priced bottle. Huge Barrell fan and often hear others are hesitant to grab a bottle at $85, think this can help introduce the brand to more people.

I just bought a bottle of STELLUM Bourbon. Looking at the label, STELLUM is MULLETS spelled backward.

have you tasted yet? what's the verdict?

@@FredMinnick I tried it at the store in Vegas. I enjoyed the sample and bought a bottle. Didn't taste coconut and anxiously awaiting the marzipan.

I've become a Barrell fan for their numbered bourbon releases, ryes and finished bourbons, whiskeys and rums. When I heard about Stellum, I was a little skeptical. Sub-60 whiskey from these guys? I was very wrong. Stellum bourbon is impressive given the price, relatively quiet intro and the first release. Brought my first bottle home on Friday. I almost always drink whiskey straight in a Glencairn. Neck pour had a fair amount of ethanol but opened up beautifully after about five minutes. Lots of classic bourbon flavors and a nice higher proof a la Barrell to present the flavors. Particularly pick up on a lot of oak, caramel, dark fruits, pepper and almonds. Second pour brought out more sweetness to support the other flavors, which usually doesn't happen to me until the third or fourth pour. Kept reaching for this bottle over the weekend. Went back and picked up a back-up bottle today. Very enjoyable bourbon, especially in this day and age where mid-50s can be a crap shoot. Props to Barrell for putting their resources into masterfully blending some nice straight bourbons that result in nectar that is greater than the sum of their parts. Don't let the simple label fool you - it's well worth the price.

Just wanted to say thanks for answering my question about whisky tubers seeming to predominantly review rare bottles more often than on the shelf stuff. I was not lumping you in that group. I appreciate your affinity for WT RB, OF 1920, and other available products. I just think to your point about brokers and distillers jacking up prices for NDP’s, a similar thing happens in social media where some influencers (not all) are choosing products to review chasing clicks. Thanks for reviewing the Buckner. I liked that you didn’t crap all over it due to price. Like you point out this is where prices for ultra aged sourced juice are going.

What's your take on the 1915 combo? Also, do you think Jackie will ever produce an official bottle?

It's always the little guys who suffer in a bust, if only we could make the middle men, who do not produce anything, suffer!! Thanks, Fred
@the_snicklefritz3 жыл бұрын
Matter of time my friend. Matter of time. Internet gonna reduce the middle man slowly but surely. Especially with the new distribution laws that just passed in Kentucky. Distilleries will be shipping bourbon direct withing the next decade

Nice reviews! I've seen that Chattanooga Tawny Port with a mid $40's price point.

The most port forward? You must not have had many port bourbons / whiskies.
