I am a Rutgers grad. Have fond memories from 10 years ago of sitting on that lawn to relax after exams were over, and also seeing AEM7's flying through here :). Those locomotives used to be labelled in the 900's. I took trains from here many times. The grease trucks nearby were also a key attraction.

I grew up right outside of New Brunswick; I can't wait to move home when I retire.

Retired Railfan Nice, Remember: sounding of the train HORN is associated with a signal in the movement of trains. Please do not expected the locomotive engineer to comply when you are encouraging them to sound the horn.

Great memories. I live in South Carolina but grew up in New Brunswick and hearing you talk about the GG 1 ‘s brought back a lot of memories. My dad would take me to Jersey Ave to watch the Metroliners roar thru in the 60’s . To this day as recently as Sept 2021 I l come to New Brunswick to watch trains. I assume you walked under the tunnel from the Northbound side to the southbound side . Great work on your videos

same here. Got married in 1982 at Kirkpatrick Chapel and I remember the alarm bell while a GG1 screamed through at 100+!

I envy you your memories of having actually witnessed GG1's in action - doubleheaded no less! Their horns were uniquely unmistakeable, so I am told.

Great to see the ALP-46s at speed, some of my favourite US electrics! Also didn't know so many Arrows were still in use on the NEC.

The trains slowing down at the end were probably because a train originating from Jersey Avenue was crossing all 4 tracks. It's a major bottleneck for the corridor. Luckily there is a plan to fix it with a flyover and loop.

I have never seen a lady railfanner before. I wish more people railfanned, it’s not just limited to men

Lovely campus. How I would love to have seen it when GG1 s ruled. Perhaps the most iconic electric loco.

Brilliant as ever can't wait to get over 🙂

The loco 2:37 is one direction only. I get the idea that they can combo but still a hassle to change direction.

I love the GG-1's and remember them pulling into Penn Station NYC. - I have a question about traction power. What is the difference between overhead catenary wires and a 3rd rail? Is one more cost effective? Which is more reliable?
@josefstalin90682 жыл бұрын
Overhead wires allow for higher speeds and more current to the train because of higher voltage. Also safer for work crews and at grade crossings since you can't exactly step on it by accident, but more expensive to install in most cases.

FRA train on the LIRR is going around. You should catch it before it leaves LIRR to go to NJT on may 11th. It will be transferred to NJT via penn station.
