When I bought my budgie, it was doing nothing, it was so afraid. Here in Brazil, usually the feeders are at the bottom of the cage, it didn't come down to eat. So I bought a feeder that is at the top, and after three days he starts to eat.

When I brought my budgie home I just let him loose to check out the house LoL he was pretty freaked out but I was able to get him on a perch to put him in his cage at night. He has been cage free daily since. Recently he put up a fight to go cage free full time and he got his way LoL he's quite tame and seemed comfortable with the way I introduced him.

Love the video! But I just wanted to make a suggestion that you remove those two plastic perches in the “isolation cage” I think your budgie care is top notch! And I highly doubt anything would happen to your birds, but last summer I rescued a budgie who only had plastic perches in her cage. To be fair so was also highly neglected but because of the plastic perches her feet became deformed and she now doesn’t grown a couple nails on her feet :( it’s almost been a year and she’s much more better! but I just want to get the information out there to people who do have plastic perches and not natural or wooden perches

Are you sure it's the plastic and not the lack of different size perches? I know Budgie's can get bumble feet if they are consistently perched on the same size perches because it is putting constant pressure on the same points of their feet. I think that's more likely to be the reason why.

@@Katiee0592 plastic perches already have a bad rap so I honestly couldn’t tell you. She’s missing toenails and they haven’t grown back. Her cage was filthy and only had three perches all that were plastic. Either way I think that plastic perches are more of a hazard for your bird then anything because if your going to keep your bird in a cage and not let them out you might as well should make them comfortable with real wood perches then a cheap piece of plastic
