You only have one life guys. I say live it. Do what makes you happy. No matter what you think, what others think, what the world thinks, things will happen anyway. Be happy and if that means buying things you love and can cherish I am definitely all for that! I have just bought a clash de cartier ring and a Hermes belt. Ive worked since I was 16. Im 60 now. I make me feel special. They are my treat. I havd the triomphe belt, Chanel ballet flats and vintage 1996 double flap in lambskin - they are all "possessions" yes but whats wrong with that. They were my choice, I worked for them and most importantly they make me feel special and happy. Not bothered what others think tbh - life is too short😊. Fab video Jess. I think you are just right to treat yourself to things you’ve wanted a long time from Chanel with the money from your rings. I sold mine too after I got divorced. I know some people are commenting here that you aren’t relatable anymore but I disagree - it’s not like you have loads of Chanel purchases and you put a lot of thought into this. I know it’s not easy to leave a marriage and if something that comes as part of the ending can bring you some joy then go for it! I see some negative comments about that. You are young and developing yourself in Paris. Love your purchases. You are absolutely correct. I have some article of clothing I have had for 20 years and they still look wonderful and last week I went to a fashion show and the same styles were shown and same colours, that I have,, so everything comes back and some classics pieces, will never go out of style. Nice to see that you are so excited regarding the love notes pocket even if you have just gone through a divorce yourself. Since it's a second-hand bag, are you sure there are no notes left inside from the previous owner? 😀 When my relationship ended, I donated the proceeds from my ring to "Mothers to Mothers". This is a translation. I don't know if the organization exists under that name in other countries. They distribute materials and clothing to families with young children who are experiencing financial difficulties. I didn't want to be the beneficiary of something that was a gift to me.

I do have to agree with some of the other comments, i feel more and more this channel is about showing off "stuff" and less about mininalism and ethical living. Everytime i watch another video i feel like I'm being told "i don't have enough, I don't look good enough until i buy all this stuff" and it's literally this part of youtubers I hate because they're feeding into this same old advertising scam by making you feel like you're not enough by showing off all the stuff they have all the time. Like why are bags, shoes and clothes so important?! Just fills like it's another void filling thing which is fine but I didn't think that this is what this channel was about 😢

I love that you have turned your rings into a Chanel bag from the same year as your marriage! I'm seperated from my significant other (after 14 years toghterher) since little more than a year but did not get any money from him except just half of our flat, all the money I've put in to our home as in furnitures etc is still there, and "he have no money to give" but he still is going on travels with our child and buy new car and so on... You made some beautiful timeless choices. The trousers look lovely and as someone who dresses in trousers a lot, it certainly helps to accessorise well. More feminine shirts (like the white lace styles at Sezane) or a sweet cardigan with pretty buttons or the new jacket all help to give the trousers a feminine touch. ❤

Followed your vlogs from the beginning and though I’ve not gone through a divorce, there is something in the air for me this year. I try so hard to be sustainable and think though purchases. However this year I’ve thrown caution to the wind with a few things starting ballet lessons, getting my first tattoo, buying things that have been on my wishlist for a while. I’m also the same age. Maybe there’s a shift but sometimes it’s nice to do things for no reason other than doing them for yourself. ❤

Jessica is young, divorced and growing into her own for the past few years; and it is nice to see her develop with her business and clothing. Some people, like myself buy clothing and accessories that I am going to use some I have had for 20 years and still look great. Some people buy things and they last a very short time. If you don’t enjoy her growing and dealing with her past and getting stronger in her mindset, then you don’t understand her plight. In defense of her purchases: Chanel ballet flats are only about $800 USD. That’s a lot of money for one item but if you are only going to have 4-5 pairs of shoes and you want them to last for a long time, they are a good buy. Plus, she bought the Chanel bag second hand and sold her rings to pay for it. I don’t feel like her fashion compass has gone that far astray. It all makes sense to me and i am glad that her life is going well.

Why? I love how Jess is finding her freedom and sense of self! When you’re with a partner for so long, you tend to lose your own individual identity!
