Very engaging stories, built around a lot of new tech placed in visually rich settings. Has more "adult" themes -- love the ep "Fallen Angels" -- and just as dark as the orig., but with actual character development and continuity from ep to ep. If its eps hadn't been cut into pieces and run at varying times throughout the Ministry of Mayhem show it was a component of, this might have taken off. The orig. was more Bond-like, whereas this is more future-military special ops. I like them both.

ITV has no Prime Time shows like "Primeval " anymore, and it now is wracked with crappy talent competitions. It would be perfect to bring Captain Scarlet back with a good budget, and give it a Saturday prime slot. But then again, quick money and tat is all anyone in the TV industry wants now.

I absolutely loved this show when I was little and it blew me away every time I watched during the day and sometimes at night. Also the theme song kicks arse and the show's main villain Captain Black is fricking awesome.

To be fair, it was 2005 and they definitely did not have a Hollywood-level budget however, a lot of it _does_ still hold up today! (This coming from someone who practically grew up with Supermarionation shows).

What? The remade Thunderbirds series uses the same music, just in a minor key and different octave. They even reused Barry Gray's Fireflash landing theme, and part of the classic music as a motif for Aunt Sylvia. How did they use "crud" music?

Unpopular opinion, but I quite like the theme, I think it fits the tone of the show nicely. The original theme is wonderfully timeless and far more memorable, but I could never help but feel it sounded out of place after having watched the original show, it sounded a little too happy-go-lucky, possibly better suited to something like Stingray or Thunderbirds.

Yes, it certainly did because they were crafted by talented artists with human hands. These computer generated electronic images look exactly like they are, fake looking and unrealistic, I’m sorry to say.

@@julianbristow4793 true but these CG animated versions were so much more versatile. Granted, not as much work went into creating them, but at least they could move their fingers. These CG versions could do so much more which made the show more believable. Take the episode rat trap, that one was so suspenseful and scary watching as a child and allows for far more immersive viewing. For all the lack of the quality that came with the CGI it made the show far more adult than the original could ever hope to be

Not just cgi, but motion capture technology was utilised for this show! I love both shows, but even I have to admit that NCS does a few things better, such as letting the characters engage in hand-to-hand combat, change their facial expressions, and most importantly, _walk_ without having to resort to their tried and true techniques of hiding the feet or relying on a conveyor belt. But that’s just my opinion, to each their own. *Though, I wonder just how the story of a ghost Scarlet could be told through puppets? Hmm?*

Give me the old series any day, the strings and the wobbling heads and shifty eyes just add to the charm, and the sense of peril and the overall tone was much darker. Old Captain Scarlet forever!

The voice of the Mysterons, Captain Black, they scared the shit of me in the original show. Not forgetting the original series always began with the Mysterons killing someone in a violent way and replacing them. Kids were made of sterner stuff back then.

the new captain scarlet theme is just god awful the 60s version is a whole lot better, the trouble with TV shows these days they have no memorable theme that you can hum along to, the revived Battle Star Galactica theme is really bland and what about Thunderbirds Are Go the revived Thunderbirds series theme
