What’s the reason for cables going in a stuffer and not glanded onto the plate? Curious. Good video mate looking forward to the next one
@jointechcabling91032 жыл бұрын
Dissipation of eddy currents that build up in the single core cables. If you leave one end of the armouring unconnected, it doesn't create heat and dangerousness😂😂😂.

Great video. I'm suprised when you crimp the lugs that you don't use any 'baby sh*t' (jointing compound) on the cable or lug to stop the reaction between the different metals. How many times have you forgotten to put the shroud on?
@jointechcabling91032 жыл бұрын
I've never used it. It's a nickel coating on the lug but the lug is 99.9% copper, as is the cable. I forgot the shroud once when I was a young un, the cable was really awkward and my father went mental when we had to take it out again. I've never done it since😂😂👍🏻
@impactvision2 жыл бұрын
Do you always run with a single crimp on 4 hole lugs? -worth noting to others that if you ever have to have the armours glanded at the tx end with a CW, take the growth of lug into account when you crimp it. (anywhere from 5 to 10mm depending on 1 or 2 compressions)
@jointechcabling91032 жыл бұрын
It's not the fact that I wanted to use one crimp, I couldn't fit two on the lug as it was so short. I always use A2s at the tx end because of the reasons you've mentioned.

Out of interest I see that you don’t earth the armour at the transformer end, what happens at the other end? And is there a set distance back from the termination that the cable armour needs to stop to prevent issues?
@jointechcabling91032 жыл бұрын
The reason that they aren't earthed is to prevent induction building up through each individual cable. As long as they are separated I don't think there's an issue on the distance from the lug.
@Mark-xr4zt2 жыл бұрын
@@jointechcabling9103 thanks for the reply, that makes sense as I had not considered the possibility of armour currents for single core cables if both ends are connected to earth. So would I be right in thinking that it is good practice to not to earth the singles at the transformer end as you potentially have less control at the distribution board which is why the earthing happens at that end?
