Great video Pan! Always enjoy them. I've actually switched from UK 3.0 to the CQuartz Original. Have used UK 3.0 on dozens of cars, usually topping with Gliss. The Original is slicker just like Gliss right of out the box. Customers seem to really like that. Maybe this SiC will replace Gliss and not Original and provide a little more longevity, as you might have notice Gliss can wear off pretty quick if a customer uses car washes a lot. Dear Pan, I have used it combining with other products of carpro. Mayby an idea or if you have comments, please let me know. Wash the car, decon it, clay, prep and polish. Afterwards carpro essence using the carpro gloss pad. Gives another tiny bit of cutting, swirl filling, gloss enhancer and a base for the ceramic coating. Had better results, in my opinion, by first applying Sic and then UK. It gives the slickness of Sic and the more durabilty of UK. Then protected it with Essence +, again using the carpro gloss pad. Which gives even a lot more gloss. Then topped it with Reload. In my opion a great result. With Kind regards from a small detailer in Belgium. Last but not least, I like your channel.

My 30 ml bottle only did my car 1 and a 1/2 times and I've got a 4 door Chevy Cruz. Also depending on what time of the day you start and how long it's taking you the Flash time is actually going to change from the start of the project to when you're done with it. When I started it was in the afternoon and Sunny towards the end a storm was rolling in the temperature dropped and it got humid so the Flash time had changed from the 1st coat to the 2nd coat

@@PanTheOrganizer I wonder how CarPro SIC compares to Opti-Coat Pro SIC coatings (like your Pro +) ?
@gerardgibson92523 жыл бұрын
Hi Pan, Ok, I finally got around to trying the Cquartz SIC coating. After preparing my car with paint correction, polishing to a bare paint with my Rupes LHR15, I applied my first coat in warmer weather, given the summer temps. I used the typical cross hatch application method and the flash time for me was approx 2-3 minutes, after that it was too grabby. I applied the second coat the day after in the early am when the temp's were a bit cooler, and the second coat went on much easier, more slicker. Now I am letting the car cure and harden, but used ArmorShield as a base (all I had), then ordered the SIC, and applying two coats, my paint looks like it has 2 coats of Gliss, that's how glossy and slick it is right now. So, a bit difficult to get the flash time just right, but once I had this nailed down, the process went quick. I looked at U.K 3.0 and SIC but since the cost was only $7.00 difference, decided to try the SIC. I was skeptical of the flash timeframe, however, after applying, and making triple sure no high spots were left behind, I have to say, I am so far, happy with the results. Having ArmorShield as my base (2 years warranty with proper maintenance), and 2 coats of SIC @ 18 months, I'd say I am covered for the next 3.5 years, just use Reload for maintenance. So there's my real time experience using this product. No need to use Gliss at this point, but have it just in case down the road. Thanks.

It's not an officially supported combo from CarPro, so there are no official instructions on this. You have to find the optimal time in your conditions to find out how much time between layers.

As I said in the comments, this video was filmed weekes before that video came out and at the time there weren’t any reviews of it on KZbin. That’s part of the game. You never know when videos will drop. But no worries, Sandro did a great job with his video too. I actually was happy to see I wasn’t alone in noticing SiC needs a longer curing time before wiping off. :)

I still need more years of testing on the GlassParency as it's still fairly new and nobody was able to test it for more than 2 years yet. The CQuartz UK 3.0 has always been my favourite consumer grade ceramic coating and lasts a solid 2 years. But the GlassParency graphene coating also has its place in my annual car detailing products awards for best graphene coating, like in my most recent edition here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpynY2WLfNqdo9k

Great review of CQuartz SiC. I have a question: I have already applied CQuartz Uk 3.0 to my vehicle a couple of weeks ago, if I want to apply CQuartz SiC over the ceramic coat, do I have to make all the prep work? Can I apply it just by doing just chemical decontamination? what do you recommend for having a better result?

Wash, dry, IPA wipe with CarPro Eraser and apply one coat of SiC.

Hi Pan, great video again. I followed the UK video of you last time an after 4 yrs it’s stil holding. I want to try sic because of the chemical resistance and not needing to use reload in 1h (hate that). Do you recommend the sic for just 1 layer instead of the 3.0uk? Because of costst I don’t want to use both. Looking forward to hear from you! Thanks

@gregwayne67853 жыл бұрын
If you have to use a topper every three months, why not use a conventional sealer or wax? I’ve had terrific success over the years using Meguiars NXT with a Collinite topper twice a year. The new product seem to have better chemical resistance, but at the expense of more work in removing them when it comes time to reapply. Comments?

@PanTheOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
I don't think there's any rivalry really. It's just a variant of a coating. Wether is graphene based or silica based, in the end, they are both semi-permanent multi-year forms of paint protection. Waaaay better than any regular wax or sealant.

Hi Pan, really appreciate your videos. I applied 2 layers of uk3.0 and 1 layer of SiC - great result! Recently, I had a scratch on my paint and used hand polish to remove it. However, this caused a dull spot (I guessed I had damaged the coating?) exactly on the area where I did the hand polishing. How do I repair the area and to blend in with the rest of the car paint again? Would love to hear your advice, please.
@PanTheOrganizer2 жыл бұрын
You aren't supposed to polish a ceramic coating, as you damage it and remove it that way. Abrasives in the polishes will remove a coating. There is only one polish that I know of, designed to remove light scratches and swirls on coatings. This one: bit.ly/3zr9Vah But because you already used a regular polish, you would now have to polish the entire section, use an IPA prep (like CarPro Eraser) on that panel, and recoat the entire panel.

So now we're putting coatings on top of coatings? How much extra gloss or protection do you get with SiC vs just topping CQuartz UK with Reload or another SiO2 spray coating periodically? I've been using UK with Reload and occasionally Elixr as as light detailer.
@PanTheOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
If you’re maintaining your coating regularly you don’t need to worry about a top coat. Top coats are basically longer lasting versions of Reload, maybe a bit more gloss, and a lot more chemical resistance.

If by topper you mean a top coat like CarPro Gliss, Gtechniq Exo V4, Gyeon Boost, etc. then CarPro SiC would be at the top of that pack. For spray on products, Bead Maker is still the slickest in my opinion.

If it can be applied this late in the coatings life can gliss be added on top of SIC? Or should I polish to remove the old coatings and start fresh? Thanks for all of your helpful videos!
@PanTheOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can still apply CarPro SiC or CarPro Gliss 2.0. Although keep in mind your CQUK 3.0 is coming towards the end of its lifespan (it's a 2 year coating). Ideally you would wash, decontaminate, machine polish, CarPro Eraser wipe, and then 2 layers of CQUK and 1 layer of SiC or Gliss. But in your case, you could wash your car, use CarPro IronX to remove iron contamination, then rinse and dry it. Use CarPro Eraser to wipe the entire vehicle (it won't hurt your coating). And then apply a layer of SiC.
