My favorite part is when you push the car at 7:27 and realized that you didn't need to do that. Nothing like smooth startup on a 121mph car.
@rcbustanut20572 жыл бұрын
Castle has definitely stepped up their game with the MMX 8S & the XLX2. I have used both on my Limitless and they run incredibly cool. I'm currently running the XLX2 w/ a 1717 1650kv motor on my Limitless now. I just geared her back down to 1:1 (34/34) to have fun with shorter runs. Even on 8S, I can do multiple passes @ ~117mph avg back to back, like 4-5 passes & the freaking thing stays cool. After that many passes, the motor was the warmest component at ~150F, no fans. Even when I geared her pretty high, pulling almost 15hp, I was able to get 2 runs & the ESC never got past 152F, which is well under the 200F limit they call out. We'll see what #s I get with the 1721 2400kv when I get that in, I can't wait to try it out. 😎👍

I'm buying the 1520 1650kv castle motor for my felony. Since you have both is the mm8s enough or is is worth the upgrade to the xl2? Thanks.
@rcbustanut20572 жыл бұрын
@@ant9072 Hi, it all depends on what you're doing with the car. If you're doing speedruns and looking into getting into the ~130mph+ range, then yes, the XLX2 is definitely worth it because it's going to run a lot more efficiently than the MMX 8S. If you're bashing around or doing lower speedruns in the 100-130mph range, the MMX 8S will be fine. You will however need a good cap pack with the MMX 8S. The XLX2 performs amazing without a cap pack. I have done 120mph runs on the XLX2 with ripple voltage of only 0.93V. That's amazing!! Here's a link from Innovation RC covering a more detailed breakdown between the Castle ESCs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJjRgYeHnJ2fZ6s Also, if you currently have any old 6S ESC, working or not working, Castle brand or not, you can send it to castle creations for an upgrade to an xlx2 for $123 out the door. That's an over $127 saving as they go for $250 +tax. I just sent them an old Arrma Blx185 system, the ESC was good but the motor was shot. They're sending me an xlx2 & a 1717 1650kv motor for $275 out the door. Something to think about 😎👍
@ant90722 жыл бұрын
@@rcbustanut2057 wow thanks for the detailed response. I will mostly be parking lot bashing with occasional speed runs. Nothing crazy just looking to break 100. The roads here aren't very good for speed runs. But the xlx2 is only 50 dollars more. With no cap pack needed it makes more sense. I'm just gonna be running 6s for bashing and 8 s for speed runs. I'm just hoping the xlx2 isn't too much for 6s. Also I have a busted vxl 6s so if they will take that definitely going to trade In. Thanks for all the help!

What amp rating is it... I heard 130 amps if so how its going to replace a XLX
@wabash90004 жыл бұрын
For the speedruns, it isn't going to keep up with the pure power output of the XLX(it is a 2/3s the size), but for bashing where you spend a lot of time at partial throttle, it is going to work just as well as the XLX in 1/5-1/7 scale vehicles thanks to Cryo-Drive. There is a reason it has the Monster name, if it was to replace the XLX it would have an XL name. More ESC's are to come this year, but for now this is going to fill a very nice gap in the market for people that need more than a Monster X, but don't quite need an XLX for their setup. If you ever hear an amp rating for any ESC from anyone from Castle, keep in mind that is the number of amps it can do constantly for 5 minutes. Peaks are going to be much higher than that number. He is going to post another video showing datalogs soon, check that video out to see how much it can really handle. Castle doesn't publish these numbers because most of our competitors have highly inflated numbers compared to our numbers. Every ESC has a number assigned to it internally for comparing Castle products against each other, but they are not published because it wouldn't market well to customers who were comparing Castle's numbers to the competition who define 'constant' to be several seconds.

wabash9000 you said not great for speed runs? He just hit 121 on 6s and didn’t even go to its potential, I wouldn’t said not great for speed runs! I would say it’s good for speed runs just not as good as an xlx esc would hold up! And the amps are 50 less then what the xlx is capable. I mean let me know if I’m wrong? Cuz this video makes me just wanna purchase one of these instead of xlx, just knowing that the specs are lowing the. The xlx but here he is running a 1/7 with speeds of 120!! With no cap pack!! There’s something in that big boy! Plus this will save a lot of space and easier to instal then the big xlx beast!!

@@paulwizal23d89 I'll admit it seems pretty badass so far. We never intended it(or the 1515) to draw 330 amps. When we were designing it our goal was to make something 15-20% better than a Monster X to compete with the Max 6 in continuous performance and work as a drop in for the x-maxx. We never expected it to blow the Max 5 out of the water in peak performance. In the first week that customers have had the product, we've seen more videos that have amazed us in engineering than we ever saw with the XLX. I've seen several datalogs from this ESC that show close to 400 amps and the ESC wasn't even hot yet, but ~400 amps in the highest reading the datalog will show so it might have been even higher that that. One warning about running 400 amps, the people that have run that much power have had the motor wires come unsoldered from the bullets by the ESC. If a wire comes unsoldered and contacts on of the other motor wires/bullets it will destroy the ESC(I know, I've done it in testing). Make sure the bullets are very tight and hard to insert(tension can be adjusted by sticking something in the end of the bullet to force the legs of the bullet out) and make sure that there is ample heat shrink over the solder joint so that it can't short between the phases. It might be a good idea to put a piece of heat shrink over the wire unshrunk before inserting the bullet and then sticking it down over the bullet in the ESC and shrink it in order to cover all exposed metal from the bullet. We knew that the choice to use 6.5mm motor bullets on the ESC was going to be the limiting factor, but we never expected people to hit it so fast.
