The Giant-Size X-men 1 CGC 9.9 went for pretty big bucks for a 9.8... which is what it was. It was a 9.9 in name only.

I'm thinking that people might not be paying as much as expected, possibly because most people feel that CGC relaxed their grading parameters, so people might be a little hesitant to just shell out all of this money, until all of this 9.9 & 10.0 stuff settles out. People might be waiting to start shelling out the money, to see how many other 9.9/10.0 books start showing up, which in turn drives down the value the more of that grade that are out there.....wait and see I guess.....

This 9.9 shit will eventually crash the 9.8 market and cgc 9.8 comics will be worthless. And all the people that have collected 9.8s for years and years will burn there books just because there so pissed with the money they have burned on them😂. This is a joke. What have cgc been doing for 20 odd year🫣so now after 20 odd years they think its a good idea to change there grading scale. Its a fukin joke

Eventually, obviously the 9.9s will probably lower the values of the 9.8 that’s going to hurt a lot.. as you know Ryan not everything keeps going down down down but everything kind of stabilized after Covid. It’s good to know that Spider-Man is definitely making a comeback. Amazing fantasy 15 6.0 as of right now the fair market value is $92,000 on GoCollect which takes the major auction houses the median sales, except for Comic Link. I told you before I will never sell my amazing fantasy 15. I even showed it to Heritage in October. It definitely should get a grade bump presents much better and I refused $100,000 for the book in October..

I like your comment but if the prices of 9.8s are down great - I’ll take them. I believe it’s still the top tier standard and if you enjoy collecting it’s okay - plus most Gold and Silver Age books aren’t in that grade anyway: so let the speculators burn. They are already done after the pandemic so it’s a great time to patiently buy. Just enjoy your collection. Thank you

In my opinion if GSX was auctioned off a year ago, it would have hit a half million. If that comic was graded in 2004 and it was safe bet. Now that everyone is staring at there 9.8 like a huge set of boobs, hoping to rub out a 9.9. You’re not just competing with ungraded books , but all those pretty 9.8.

Again, that 170k GSXM 1 9.9 is a one off sale, I’m sorry, it’ll get cut shortly - there will be another 9.9 and other 9.9s for other “special” books soon enough. Plus, speculating dealers (not you!) must face facts: the bottom is not yet reached yet on prices which is great for the collectors side of the community. Patience is key. You thought the GSX #1 was low at $170K? The buyer overpaid! There is no discernible difference between a 9.9 and a 9.8. There are 257 9.8s on the census. How many of those might be 9.9s? Even if only a few turn into 9.9s, that will crash the price. However, I have to applaud CGC's business model. Long-term it's a declining business as more and more of the population of books are graded. So how to combat this? Come up with a 9.9 prescreen model to entice people with 9.8s to roll the dice for a 9.9. And of course, to make this work they are going to have to grade some books at a 9.9 in order to continue the flow of books. What's more, they got guys like you doing videos to promote their scam...I mean... legitimate business model. Ingenious!
