Hey Sebby thanks for all the great content. My question is if I spend the $4000 to earn the 80k bonus on the CSP can I when transfer it over to a balance transfer card that’s not a chase card? Thank you if you are able to answer. #asksebby 😁
@balkatron12 жыл бұрын
Sebby, as a former banker my guess is Chase is trying to cull their credit card book and derisk the portfolio. There are possibly a lot of "sock drawer" /bonus hunters who are unprofitable to the bank. Those unused accounts are open credit lines (potential risk) yet don't earn anything beyond the annual fees. There must be a whole lot of these for them to take such action.

Sounds like you have a good gauge on this. I’m a low spender, but by no means inactive on any of my card accounts. Should I be at all worried about this? I’m absolutely strategic with my applications and my categories I spend in, but I don’t churn or sock drawer any of my cards

I would agree with that. I'm just thinking about how much collateral damage this might make with well intensioned people and to what degree it will make it more difficult to get multiple cards. Chase seems to be purposely vague in their wording, leaving it open to interpretation.
@EthanCowlbeck2 жыл бұрын
@@ramonsuarez1051 Well-intentioned people is so hard to define though. Technically anyone watching this channel is probably looking for a means to use banks to save more money than they would otherwise. At what point does a customer cost the bank profits, and at what point do they care? Is it at the point they don’t pay interest? Is it at the point where the rewards earned on every swipe exceed the merchant fee? Is it the point that the card isn’t used at all? It’s easy to look at the extremes of people who churn through bonuses and don’t use cards with any regularity, but where do you draw the line up to that? Is anyone truly safe or innocent?

These changes are truly frustrating to me. Agree. The other big change recently of course is inflation and interest rate raises. So now they are giving interest free loans being paid back with less valuable inflated currency when instead they could lend that money out to other banks at a higher interest rate. So more sophisticated users are tying up their money and other risky ones might default and never pay them back. They want people to carry a nice balance and pay 20 percent internet a month. Not zero and bounce. Not crippling and go bankrupt.

I’d chalk these changes up to de-risking due to the expected economic environment. Inactive cards costs banks a significant amount of money. And if you offer a promo, it’s even more expensive. I think the new IHG premier reward is pretty good ? 3X on everything. 5X on gas dining and travel. If plus $100 statement credit and 10k points if you spend $20k. That’s close to 5X and 7X on purchases ?

Good video and looking forward to seeing how this is implemented vs the legal stuff added to the contracts. Thanks for the topic

Hmm why would chase do this? I mean wf is on a reboot, cap1 is moving in hard into travel not to mention all the others trying to find a niche as well. I see a lot of ppl moving to Amex or cap1 if ppl can’t get the trifecta anymore

Does this effect business cards.?

👽👽👽 I think Chase is just trying to prevent people who churn cards to get bonuses.

This just makes Capital One more attractive to the novice and average user. Venture X for travel, Savor/SavorOne for Dining, groceries, and entertainment, and Quicksilver for everything else. Their travel portal ain't all that bad either. If they can consistently add lounges across the U.S. and later branch out to some international hubs, C1 is going to be the go-to bank/credit lender.

Do the credit cards u just mention have yearly fee's? Highly considering it
@conquerordie2302 жыл бұрын
@@dolcevita8461 The Quicksilver and SavorOne have versions that don't have annual fees. The Venture X does have one for $395 but if you travel at least once a year you get a $300 travel credit plus a $100 anniversary bonus so effectively there is no annual fee. Cheers.

👽 Does this mean you'll no longer be able to reapply for the CSP or CSR to get a bonus every 48 months? 💀

Those are some pretty scary changes. Hopefully Chase doesn't actually enforce; unless someone is extremely abusing the system.

Chase wouldn't block people from getting the trifecta. They simply want you to use their cards. I would also consider decreasing huge unused credit lines. 👻

Chase sucks! I had 3 chase cards that I used all the time, and paid off each month. I was a day late paying a $15 payment one month and they dropped my limit from $15,000 to $500! When I called in, the representatives I spoke with said they never saw a drop like that for something so minor. I have "sock-drawed" all my chase cards and never ever use them now. My Amex, Citi and Capital One cards increased my limits, so they are my go-to cards now. I avoid chase at all costs now!

👻 To answer Patreon question: Depends on the value I get. Do i get higher value than what is paid? What would be different from youtube videos? I am not interested in early videos. What is the focused? CC, PF, Travel, etc.
