A humorous approach and yet I invented nothing nor did I over-analyse. I just know my chickens. :)

A curious point of trivia: Pirates are known for keeping parrots on their shoulders, but in actual fact, it was far more common to see a pirate with a chicken on his shoulder. Sure, chickens don't sing a rousing sea chanty nor remark about buried treasures, but they do provide a steady source of fresh eggs. Chickens actually held rank aboard ships -- hence the "Pecking order" rising from chicken of the day, chicken of the deck, chicken of the ship, to the coveted rank "Chicken of the Sea."

Yes, I meant Axi and Bommel. In your video, they certainly don't have the large, noticeable combs that the other chickens have, even though they are obviously older than the little yellow combless chicks that are newly hatched. Again, forgive my total ignorance about farm animals.

Huh? They all have combs. If you mean the Easter Eggers, they're still chicks in the video, their combs aren't fully develloped yet. Also, they have a different comb shape than the "normal" ones, it's called a pea comb.

I've read that some livestock laws can be gotten around by naming the animals, maybe making them some too-cute hats, and calling them PETS, not livestock.

That's because in German it takes all your attention just to reach the end of a word made up of five other words stuck together. You have no mental space left to consider its implications. I've just googled for "Walter von der Winderveldt", a name I had in my head from years ago. But I couldn't find anything. Wasn't there a poet of that name, or something like it? I was wondering how you could say a name like that without spitting out your teeth.

If it's any constellation (consolation) English is a nearly impossible language for others to learn. There are so many borrowed words and archaic phrasings and just illogical usages that even native speakers get it wrong a large part of the time... Don't feel bad. You'll assimilate into the flock eventually.
