Those are made to pull around 12" deep , so to pull like it needs to be pulled you only need to pull 3 shanks , 5 max!

They're not for plowing up sod ground, they are for ground that is already busted up with a plow. Your Cultivator's tines dig in so fast you don't have time to react on raising the 3 pt & the front pops up on & on it goes, till you get sick of it.

That looks like a Ford 4000 has a split grille. Dad had a 1966 4000 split grille 52 pto hp. Didn't pull a chisel plow or a field cultivator, pulled a moldboard plow 3-14s and a 10 ft disc. Good old tractors but that looks like a lot to ask it to do.

I have the same setup with an International 11pt chisel plow and a 7600 Ford 1981 Diesel tractor. I only pull 9 shanks and have 300 lbs of weights on the front of my tractor. Does a farily good job in low 3rd gear.

Looks like more of a C tine cultivator than a chisel plow to me. Also not meant to work up sod, or grass. Kill the grass first then once it's dried down it will work up better.

Your cultivator has shanks? What I call a cultivator is a plows with sweeps. This guy is hardly chiseling imo. That tractor is not appropriate for that straight plow.

I used to use a chisel, just like that. But on a 145 horse tractor, with front wheel assist, and duals. And at 10 inches deep, it was sometimes all it wanted.

Yeah, too big for that tractor, and they are not really made to plow sod. for that you'd better use a moldboard plow. The concept behind chisel plows, are to plow deep to loosen soil below a topsoil level.

I pull a 7 shank with my 6610 and it does ok. I really like pulling it with my brothers old JD 130 hp. Love the power.

They may say 10 to 15 HP per point, but I think if you had suitcase weights on the front, duals and weights on the rear you can handle it.

If you can’t pull it deeper than a field cultivator, then it’s too big. We chisel plow at least 10”, deeper with a coulter chisel.

i had lely big skank, pull with IH 2+2 350 hp 11 shank pull 12 mph. fast is what you need. that looks like i NICE chisel

You can narrow the thing, and get some weights,take 3 off on each side,and put 4 inch sweeps on it.

Oh and move the Guage wheels way in, about a foot from rear tires, or closer, you can move shanks alittle farther apart. Your outside shanks should be out past your Guage wheels maybe 6 inches, can go with bigger sweeps, it was a good deal, grow a big garden, but pile weights on the tractor.

chisels do not work well in sod. run disc over to brake sod up. the chisel will aureate soil

One comment, 150hp for a 13' chisel plow? I can pull my 12' with shovels with my 62 horse oliver. Grabdfather in law does a 20' with his 80hp deere. Both are 2wd.
