Amazon sells an empty plastic housing for the dream station 1. It comes with an installation booklet and the tools you need to install it. If you ever put together Ikea furniture you can fix it yourself for about 36.00 dollars. I can't tell the difference between the sound the machine makes with or without the noise abatement foam.

It can exceed 10 million machines, Steve's comment below is correct regarding the silicone. I suggest watching the CPAP reviews channel as it is very informative. I was sickened to learn that it may also effect hospital ventilators as well. Really? This is evil...

I find it ridiculous that insurance companies, or Phillips for that matter, won't just cover the cost of a replacement. Having a prescription for a CPAP is already a doctor stating that it's medically necessary (even if it's not dire). The entire propose of health insurance is to cover unexpected medical costs; I don't understand why a medical device potentially pumping carcinogenic gasses and particles of foam directly into your lungs wouldn't count.

I am still waiting for a replacement machine and just taking my chances for the last 2 years - which is a game I really don't want to keep playing . Government should jump in and force this company to take care of their mistake before more people are affected with preventable ailments/deaths

Be careful - The brand new Philips Dreamstation 2 CPAP with silicone foam sounds like it may also be recalled very soon for excessive VOC's. You should think twice about getting a Phillips CPAP machine.

Another very sad aspect of this whole disturbing situation is the lack of support and accurate information from the medical sleep clinic enterprise. Both Phillips and the sleep clinics seem to have absolved themselves from any responsibility. Phillips would initially say you would just have to wait for either any real information or a replacement and oh by the way there was no particular timetable...maybe a year one phone person said). Then the suggestion on the recall hotline was to just check with your sleep doctor and when one did so the response was often that they knew nothing for sure and that users will just have to decide what to do on their own. Big Pharma and all its minions strike again. Why isn't there a 60 minutes special on this?

Too bad alternate devices aren't readily available due to microchip shortages and the huge worldwide demand for them due to this recall. Also, it's more like 10 million devices affected worldwide. Philips is 100% a horrible lying company. There are now tests that show the foam they used is cancerous when the devices were brand new out of the box due to outgassing VOCs. Further, on their recall registration page if you enter the dash in the serial number, as printed on the machine, it will tell you, "your device is not affected" instead of "incorrect serial number format" or similar. Horrible deceitful company. Their "fix" by the way is sending you a "refurbished" machine that was used in goodness knows what dirty environment, with who knows how many hours use (they factory reset the counter) before it randomly shows up at your door with no notice or documentation. But sure, trust them that they fixed it for your health, right? As for me, I plan to go 'office space' on whatever device shows up at my door. Never again Philips.

This recall is making it hard to get a CPAP machine from other manufacturers. I was fortunate that my Dreamstation was a few days over 5 years old when I began looking into this. I had to wait a long time to get a new Resmed, but I feel blessed to have gotten it. My Father-In-Law who was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea has been waiting for months for a machine and may have to wait a while longer. Seems like an opportunity for another company to get into this market. Sleep Apnea is serious and these machines are important. If you build them, they will sell.

My local DME not only denies the 5 year rule, but says they only replace CPAP machines if they no longer work. And, no, the fact that they are not safe to use does not count. I have had the one (a Philips recalled model) I got from those blankity blanks for 8 years now. Of course I have bought new machines out of pocket. I even paid out of pocket for the ding blasted DS-1. I finally bought a Resmed Airsense 10 out of pocket.

I ended up in the Ku med for a week over this machine. 2 years ago I had a spleen infarct that was from my liver and a blood clot. Big circle effect. Since the release I've had to sleep on a incline because of the hard breathing at night. When I lay over on my side you think I'd be able to sleep easier huh? Nope. I've been off work because I lose my breath so easy. I won't settle for some little amount of money. I'm a millwright by trade and thought I was a decent healthy guy. I feel as I'm a 60 year old smoker with lung cancer. Im 36! Take a Prednisone prescription once a month just to hope I can walk with my kids outside.

I just received my replacement CPAP machine via the recall. It’s a smaller Dream-station 2. It took 5 months to get the replacement. Before receiving the new unit, I tried getting a replacement, but my medical supplier would not even help me or discuss this issue. They said the insurance carrier would not provide a new unit until after 5 years. They didn’t even notify me of the recall and I found out about it by chance. It was in late October and early November the supplier finally sent out letters to patients. That was a few days late and a dollar short for notification on the recall. One thing to NOT use with the replacement machine are those OZONE sterilizers advertised on TV. They will cause the same issue with the replacement machine and void the warranty. IMHO I would recommend another brand of CPAP machine other than the Philips machine. I also plan to find another supplier other than the one in Florida. Their customer service sucks.

My wife had a Philips CPAP machine that was suppose to be recalled. We have been going on almost 3 years with getting notices that the machine is coming next week. They have sent 3 emails stating they can not send the machine because the address is not correct. The first 2 times that I called them the address was correct, so they were just extending the recall some more, surprise, surprise. The machine was noisy. I had an older Resmed machine and she has been using it. We will not be going back to using Philips again. All they are concerned about is making more money. They don't care about the consumer. Which is evident in how they are treating this recall and the other findings that are being seen.

Even after registering the machines, I threw out my Philips System One and Dreamstation Go because I will not accept anything at all from corrupt, non-caring Philips Respironics. I bought a 3B Medical Luna II out of pocket before internet sellers started gouging prices. You can always just open up your machine, take it apart and remove the foam. Look at it to see what condition it is in.

Hello, I have a question not sure if someone could help me out?. Anyways I was using a Philips CPAP machine only after 14 months of use I started having chest pain went to the ER more than once and was diagnosed with bronchitis and some other sickness I was given antibiotics and steroids yet this did not fix my Health issues. Eventually I went to my primary doctor told him about my symptoms and I was referred to a lung doctor, oncologist doctor and a cardiologist. Long story short at 38 years old I had to have first a heart stent a few months later I continued having chest pain and using the CPAP machine/every time I use the machine my lungs would hurt I would have dizzy spells during the day and headaches almost all day and night long. In addition to that I also have a small growth on my lungs I don’t know the doctors lingo but I believe I have a enlarged lymph note as well as something is wrong with my white blood cells not sure if it’s too much or not enough sorry. I have been fighting to try to receive my Social Security benefits/disability I have been unable to work since my heart issues well shall I say two or three months prior to my heart stent being placed I had my open heart surgery of May 2019 I have never been the same I have two small children boys that I cannot even play with or pick up I am on lots of medication including for depression this CPAP machine ruined my life. Is there anyone that can help me with information? My question below: I have already went to the Philips website and registered my machine also I received a letter from Philips about the recall I did not send my machine back honestly don’t even remember if they asked for it back? I did not want them to say I did not have it or pull some shady stuff on me. So my main question is what do I have to do to join the class action lawsuit I tried looking it up not sure but am I already included in the class action lawsuit? Or is there something I have to do? Please I beg of you can someone please help me? Honestly I am computer illiterate.

The biggest problem they did not state is that Phillips new replacement machine, i.e. Dream Station 2, is a much cheaper made machine and any filters and etc. you have will not fit on the new machine. The hoses are smaller diameter and will not be sufficient for large people. The water tank is smaller, so requires frequent filling. There is no swivel fitting at the back of the machine so your hose goes straight back into the wall, instead of being able to swivel towards your bed. The machine is all black and difficult for us elderly to see in the night.

Your hoses from the Dreamstation 1 will work perfectly fine on the Dreamstation 2, you just need to program it for the larger hose size.

With millions of Phillips devises under recall, a rush in demand for alternate machines produced by other companies has resulted. Demand for Resmed, machines, the primary alternate, has skyrocketed.
