This video was a pleasant surprise. I'm afraid I got hooked on classical music with symphonies, concertos, and operas. Chamber music is not on frequent rotation. I find a lot of it really intimidating (I'm looking at you, Beethoven). The best chamber music I've heard somehow recaptures the feeling of "bigness" inherent to a lot of orchestral music, i.e., they literally "sound bigger" than the number of forces for which they were written (e.g., Schubert's Death and the Maiden Quartet), or they're so bubbly and fun that my mind isn't paying attention to instrumental timbre. However, most of it just doesn't sound big enough, and it's all so terribly _serious._ I'm sorry to say this, but I find the intimate atmosphere around chamber music almost oppressive and suffocating. I can't listen to it at loud volumes or on headphones without thinking, "This is too much. I need to turn it down" (the opposite problem occurs with orchestral music, where I eagerly listen to it as loud as possible because it's seemingly never loud enough. Funny, huh? 🙃). I hope to one day get more into it. I suspect chamber music may much more readily appeal to older folks than me because they're no longer as impressed by bombast or spectacle as younger listeners (which isn't to say there isn't such thing as bombastic or spectacular chamber music; it's just exceedingly rare).

@miro.georgiev97 Thank you for watching and for the thoughtful comment! I can see why you feel the way you do about the intimate atmosphere of chamber music; you have to want to be a "prominent participant" in the listening experience. And to be honest, not all chamber music is created equal. Some of it is not very good at being intimate, while some of it tries to be more grand than it is. Mind a couple recommendations? ...
