I’m doing the wall washing kind of clean for Christmas
@emmyiseini28303 жыл бұрын
I’ve been doing the same thing - running the dishwasher at the end of the night and emptying it in the morning while my son eats breakfast. It gives me a kickstart feeling of accomplishing a task first thing in the morning, and I use that time to chit chat with my toddler while putting things away! An added bonus is that I can see what gets used each day, making any future decluttering easier down the line because I have a better handle on what we actually use and what never seems to be in the wash at night!

Love that! Exactly what I do with the girls! It has been working really well because we usually get so behind on dishes.

I am not joking. I was literally just saying to my husband, "I need to channel my inner Carissa" and he said, "What does that even mean?" I originally meant that I needed to throw some shoes on and dig deep so I could get my house put back together today AND THEN YOU DROPPED THIS VIDEO. Now my husband thinks I summoned you. 💟💟

I just found you this morning, I love your updates, you got a lot done is such a short time. Since you did ask for tips…..I started to empty my dishwasher - before - I go to bed so it’s empty to start a new day - game changer. Then through the day I clean as I go, I put each item into the dishwasher as they are used during food prep and cooking meals. While I am cooking I wash pots/pans, dry and put them away as soon as they are done being used so a good portion of the mess is cleaned before I sit down for dinner. Nothing goes into the sink to wait for "later" except for the after dinner snack dishes and cups while the dishwasher is running after dinner. I also clean as I am cooking, the seasoning and food packages, etc get put away right after use. It keeps the counters clear and the sink empty and actually feels like less work, it is not piling up. The kitchen is my big priority I don’t leave the kitchen in a messy state, I clean/straighten it, wipe counters and stove before I leave the room. It took a little while to keep the routine but I do strive to make it happen every day. You may even have to run dishwasher twice a day. For the after lunch load run and empty it asap so it is not backed up to dinner. My step mom told me these tips and I thought she was a cleaning fanatic but as I worked on it (over years) these things really did help to streamline cleaning and the time it took to clean up after a meal. As for dusting and vacuuming that is another story but if the room looks "tidy" then I am good, fake it til you make it, hey my kitchen is clean, lol. You’ll figure out what works best in your house. Cleaning, straightening and tidying throughout the day is easier than letting everything go to have a big overwhelming job. I see many You Tubers let everything go so they have an “extreme” clean with me. For filming purposes they do not pick up or put away anything, crumbs all over, dirty counters and table, food items and plates stacked up etc. I think in real life our letting things go only works against ourselves. Because I am pretty lazy I have found that the least mess is really the least effort to clean. When my kids were little as they got up in the AM I would do a quick tidy and straighten upstairs, open curtains, make beds, dirty laundry to a basket and when we got downstairs I put a gate at the stairs so no messes going on without my knowledge. It just felt so good that one part of the house stayed clean. Bedtime was a quick 2 minute tidy (clear floors to avoid tripping and injury. Who has time for that chaos?) Jessi Christine has a good routine for her son’s bottles. I used to just boil the nipples and caps and put the bottles into the dishwasher (old school, my youngest of 4 is 26). Jessi also uses a Bissel CrossWave on her hardwood floors which could save you time and energy.

Family of 7 with no dishwasher but me 😂 but it actually doesn't bother me much. I do two big sink fulls every day - one after lunch, one after dinner. The kids and my husband and I all have water bottles so I don't typically have glass wear to wash, the kids have a pretty good routine of rinsing dishes after each use so at least when I go to wash them they're not caked with food. We make it work!

Hi Carissa, I used my dishwasher as you do. We are also a family of five although all my three boys have moved out now. Anyone over the age of 6 was expected to put their dishes straight in to the dishwasher and not leave them on the counters. They were also on a rota (from age 10) to empty it and put away the clean dishes. I think its so important to empty it promptly, at my house I hated to see loads of dirty dishes in the sink all day or out on the counters.

Bottles I wash instantly except for when they get older & only do bottles a few times a day. Easy to rinse items like glasses of drinks I rinse & put back so we don’t run out of dishwasher space at the end of the day. It would be full of drink glasses & snack bowls by noon otherwise I swear 😅 otherwise Monday is my kitchen day. I deep clean one space a day & just maintenance clean otherwise throughout the week.
