New ComfortTac Belly Band Gun Holster Review

Been carrying concealed since 1969. I never had a holster system that was comfortable enough to wear all day. I even had a nice shoulder holster I tried for a while, but became painful on my shoulders and couldn’t wait to take it off. I recently saw an ad for this Belly Band Holster and went ahead and ordered it hoping this would be the one. I got it and tried it in different positions on my “portly” body. Bingo!! I positioned it so that my Glock 43 was just under my left arm, down a little lower. I repositioned the mag holder to the right side of the belt on my side. I wear this all day and forget I even have it on. No printing at all. This is the BEST system and the most comfortable. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Ken

I've recently purchased a belly band. I've worn it once, it does take some getting used to. I had a kydex trigger guard so I put that on the pistol first.

This make/model is what I have been trying out and so far it is the only really comfortable option for me.I am carrying the Taurus G2C so I like the safety on the gun for re-holster. But I do carry with a round in the chamber and the safety on. It is very easy to ‘thumb-flip’ the safety off when drawing the G2C and makes for better safety with these types of holsters.

Barry Chickini thanks for your help. I just purchased the G2c and can only wear coveralls because of back problems and was looking for a belly band holster to fit. I will definitely purchase this.

They now send 2 mag carry pouch has now 2 designs plus retention for firearm is wider to cover trigger greatly.

I use the deep concealment version which has the snap a little higher and love it. I do have a safety on my carry which makes re-holster feel a little safer.

I love the comfort but I feel I have to have a safety to really feel safe using it.

@@adolpholiverbush5867 I use a 357 revolver snub with mine or a bersa 45. The 357 needs a strong trigger pull and the bersa has a safety. No way I'm carrying a Glock or Springfield in mine. I am not a fan of those safety types at all. I own a Springfield and as soon as you grab it its basically a live firearm. smh

I bought this one. The problem I have is that the extra length of strap slips out from around the band and protrudes through your shirt...very uncomfortable. It would be nice if there was enough of the sticky part to prevent this. There is only about 3 inches of it.

Most of the problems people have with these are caused by carrying too large of a gun. In my opinion these should not be advertised for use with full sized guns (and I do pretty much consider the G19 to be full sized) Most sane people would opt if wearing light or loose fitting clothing to carry a smaller gun anyway. These should be used with subcompact and micro pistols ideally. Just today I went for a run with no shirt (It was very sunny) and just black loose fitting gym shorts. I had the belly band with my bodyguard 380 tucked under my waist line. You couldn't even tell and it was very comfortable and stayed in place.

Agreed. These work very well with smaller pistols. This was perfect for my Shield EZ 9mm. It's so comfortable I barely realize I'm wearing it.

Update for November 2020...they now have a detachable two magazine holder. One pouch has the elastic band with snap, the other a wider, more covered velcro strap pouch that can hold a magazine.

Planning on using this under a jacket. Pistol in a crossdraw position easily accessed through the jacket. I also like iwb with it, as I can wear skinny jeans and no belt without worrying about it.

I just got mine in the mail I love I didn't know there was extra pocket?..i put my wallet in there...i comfortable can't even notice my side arm ( glock 19 gen 5) it's perfect. It doesn't get on the way when im driving .Comfort Tac is on point

Bought a crossbreed belly band because it has the kydex holster... returning it immediately after first try on. The material is uncomfortable and the thread is scratchy against the skin. The gun rides way too high and prints like wild. Floppitty flop.

Put that pocket at the opposite side youcarry the gun to better distribute any extra weight you may put inside it and to avoid showing the gun if need to pick something from it. Hola! from Puerto Rico

That strap should be positioned for an actual thumb break. That positioning slows down the draw.

They could probably make the clip holder almost as long as the clip and dont put a strap on it and that would work as long as it's a tightly snug fit then put a strap on it

For me it's still the only way to go for T-shirt/shorts. Not sure about those specific inserts. I'll say that if you're wearing belt/jeans type clothing there are still better options.

Do you feel confident having one in the chamber inside that fabric? I’m so used to kydex having the trigger guard covered

What I'm not comfortable with is drawing and re-holstering with a fabric holster. That's the time it's most dangerous when there's one in the chamber.

On the ComfortTac one, there's a vinyl / fake leather tab with the snap for the retention strap, over the trigger guard. I won't say that it's impossible to engage the trigger while it's snapped in there, but I tested it at the range and was unable to make it go off by jamming stuff into the trigger area.

So I'm a year late but in the comments on comfortac's own videos, they say that the trigger guard only kydex "holster," covers work slid in the comfortac band, just fyi..👍

I have one made by a different company that works great. I modified it slightly by sewing in a pouch for a flashlight. I usually wear it when I bike ride.

I do, but i don't re-holster it without unloading it first. The most dangerous part with a holster like this is the re-holster after draw.

Nice review. I've had the latest version for awhile now and find it very comfortable in warm temps. I do some times where a light weight t-shirt underneath my outer layer which seems to help with any sweating or sliding like on bare skin. I'm from Green Bay originally and remember all the humidity which contributes to more sweating...don't have to worry about that here in Nevada. My Ruger sr9C 10 round extra magazine is fine in the pouch. I do have the 'pinky' installed but that doesn't seem to be the reason it is snug as it is. In your video it looks like you have your extra mag stored toward the front of the pouch and I wonder if you centered it if that would make a diff? The strap on mine is not loose so it stays very well. Anyways we are very happy with our Comfort Tac Belly Band (in beige/flesh color btw) and recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable holster that you can use in ALL the carry poitions, except ankle of course. :) Another point is that all of my hand guns fit in this hoster including my 357 S&W revolver. Look forward to any updates.

I agree with the undershirt being a great help. I've had mine for a little over two months and have worn it everyday, from the time that I get dressed, until the time that I go to bed. I keep the flush fit mag in the pouch and the one with the pinky extension in the pistol. The strap stays on the flat bottomed one better.

Should have kept the magazine next to the gun. Should also make the holster to fit a specific gun. I got a Glock 48 and don't see it work for me. Yes I sweat 😂. And if Velcro stick to it then so would the lint from your clothes

AdamEater There is a big difference between concealed and cover. The product is for concealed carrying but your tight cloths and sweatshirt tucked in does not conceal your weapon. You are using their product and just covered it. It’s like trying to hide a basketball on center court from everyone just by throwing a towel over it. It’s not concealed but just covered.
