I'm in Central Pennsylvania just starting the process, at the country prison and let me tell you all of your advice is spot on plus , talked to HR Manger on my first call after sending in my resume and application, I fond out last year they started full training on site physical and all is on site its gonna be 6 week hiring process great hourly wages plus shift differential.

You’re absolutely right, in my hiring process! they did almost everything in one day, I pass my physical agility test, I pass the interview. I did the background, plus drug test, mental test, I’m waiting on them to contact me on my health physical now. I’m with Nevada State corrections, any advice?

I applied to VADOC on the 14 of February had my in person interview on the 22. My interview was like 15-20 mins hired me off the spot I go for my medical exam and physical exam the 22 of this month and my start date is the 25 of this month

@@TheGhettoBodybuilder after reviewing all of the requirements for federal, I believe the state prison. I don’t have a degree or 3 years of general experience. The state seems to accept anyone so maybe after I gain experience with them I could reconsider federal.

a degree you can be case manager other management positions. outside of the prison you could apply to other agencies like FBI, Secret Service, US Marhsalls, IRS, federal probation officer

So I got the process started, passed the test and pt portion. But they stop my process because I have a tattoo back of my ear. They said I would be able to continue if I chose to get it removed (which i did) so I’m tryna see if they gone let me continue with the proof of removal but they ain’t getting back to me in the same time manner like they did when I FIRST was contacted about the position. 🤦🏾‍♂️

basically they back pay you. the last time it happened, i cant remember if Obama or Trump was in office, we missed 2 paychecks. my next check was like $9,000 take home. the best thing to do is be smart with your money, have savings built up , &/or a couple credits with high limits you can put your bills on until they open it back up

it all depends on the agency. when i went through the county jail in west Virginia, we stay during the week and drive home on the weekends. the federal prisons, its people from all the USA, we train at academy in glynco, georgia and have to stay the entire 3 weeks unless your prison is driving distance some ppl went home on weekends & came back

its all in what career track you feel suits you best. ive never worked as a cop only corrections. The people, de escalation, & communication skills you learn in prison without having a gun can help you on the street patrol. some county jails, you can work as a jailer and on the road as a sheriff dual positions depending on where you are
