These guitars are just fantastic. It must be said, guitars don't sound amazing on their own. Ben and Pete play these guitars in such a lovely way that they really bring out the wonderful characteristics of them. Cheers to Ben and Pete!

a Martin guitar is on my "must have" list... I don't know how they do it, but nothing seems to have the richness and beautiful sound of a Martin

Just got the Rich Robinson D28. It's out of this world, it's alive, humble and yet and a tonal sea with a sustain that lasts for days. I will never need another acoustic.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a review video as much as this one before. Ben and Pete should cut an album of acoustic instrumentals using these guitars!

I got very similar CS as the OM-28, The difference is my CS 000-14f(om-28) have a sitka spruce torrified(vts) which make it vintage and loud projection sounding guitar ,warmer than the Adirondack. Thanks for the demo.

The 18 that Pete was playing at 18:10 was perfect to my ear. Is my eye correct in identifying it as the D18? I always thought I wanted an OM, but side by side with the D18 has changed my mind.

I don't hear the difference between the OM28s. Probably it is noticeable in person... on YT it's difficult. they both sound great guitars anyway.

Is the wildwood D-28 more mellow, softer, the straight-grain rosewood D-28 more defined, less resonance? - same with the 000-28 I reckon.

The custom D-35 scalloped bracing is 'even more pronounced' than on the bog-standard D-35 ??? But I thought a D-35 is a D-28 with scallops? ...is the Custom D-35 scalloping wafer thin???

Peet has a great ear for good guitars, I have to agree with him, the wild grain OM sounds better to my ears it seems more open and has more dynamic range, Also it could be the difference between the two Adirondack tops 🤷😅
@roughcutguitars
@roughcutguitars Жыл бұрын
Any difference you're hearing is likely due to variance between the tops and construction - largely subtle differences in bracing carve and position. Backs are mostly reactive where tops are active. They're literally the sounding board against which air pumped from the top is projected back out through the soundhole. While it's true that wild grain may be looser or less dense providing a more absorbent surface than tighter, denser straight grain and accounting for an ever-so-slightly warmer/darker tone, those kinds of differences come more from vastly different densities of wood such as Mahogany (much softer/less dense, thus quieter & warmer vs Rosewood much harder & denser thus brighter, crisper.
