I picked up one of these awhile back and while I like it, it’s not worth the price in my opinion. Specific gripes include: 1) Frequent feeding issues, especially with 10 round PMAGs 2) 3 MOA at best, based upon my testing. I knew this was advertised as a 2 MOA rifle when I bought it but I have yet to get that. 3) Cheek piece snags my hearing protection and pulls it off my right ear if I move my head, even slightly to change my sight picture. This was an issue while shooting last weekend at a crowded range - hearing protection pulled off of my right ear when the guy next to fired a large caliber rifle. I like the design of this rifle but even collapsed it’s too long for a backpack. The trigger is very nice and the overall build quality is very nice. I just think this should be a $600 rifle given it’s features and accuracy.

you hit a lot of good points for sure. I haven't experienced feeding issues. As for the back pack, its better suited strapped to the side of a pack and works really well for this. I appreciate the barrel not being shorter than 16 inches for numerous reasons.

I had feeding issues with mine at first but only because of the pro mag it came with. I didn't any hearing pro issues yet. I love the gun. Some play in a PDW stock is normal

I have made straight pull .223 rifles for some friends; i simply buy a side or t handle charging AR upper. I take off the gas block and tube; simply tap and add a block off screw and presto...a straight pull or (bolt action) rifle. The rifle even uses the buffer spring for a faster follow up shot. I made one with a side folder adapter on the rear end because the buffer spring isn't even needed

I can totally appreciate modifications like that. However, there’s just something about the classic bolt action vibe, as well as the lever action vibe. This rifle is definitely a niche filler. Back to your topic; I love the Yugo SKS with the gas shutoff, essentially creating a straight pull manual action. Lets go even further to semi auto rifles that have been modified to function link a pump shotgun. That’s a fun concept once you eliminate the laws that force the mods. Boil it all the way down to a break action single shot.. it’s extremely relaxing!

Do you happen to know the specific reason why the rifle doesn't like aluminum mags? I want this thing, but if it won't take those old G.I. mags then it's a no-go for me. If it's just something simple like having to file down the mag release a bit then I can deal with that, however.

I bought one in 7.62x39 and i got to say my action is so stiff it kinda sucks which i did not expect from cz and the stock is really flexible up and down way more then id like im wondering if its just mine any input from anyone experiencing this ?

Hey! Glad to see a video from you, hope you and your family enjoyed the holidays. I've had my eye on this rifle for a while now, I've been hanging back tho, waiting to see how it unfolds, cause of the safety recall, and the awkward cheek weld...I am a sucker for retractable stocks on any firearm however. I will more than likely get it eventually. Is the stock wobbly in all positions, or just when furthest out..? Looking forward to a shooting video when you have a chance. Cheers and happy new year!

The stock is pretty much wobbly all throughout. However, when you have it braced on your shoulder, it is not noticeable when shooting. The Recall was only put out due to the fact that with the caliber swap design, it could possibly be reassembled wrong by the end user. So as to be on the safe side, CZ just scrapped the idea of the caliber swap. So even if you owned a recalled serial number, its still safe to shoot (in my opinion) so long as you dont disassemble the barrel for a caliber swap. I just bought this one, and the serial number was not effected. I can only assume the recalled serial numbers are from a much earlier production.

Yours was half by 28? In canada mine was 1 by m15, which are insanely hard to find. Still love this gun and everyone that tries it, likes it, super smooth action, easy to control, kinda loud with the short barrel, but fun to run

The stock is definitely not set up for precision shooting, cheek weld kinda sucks so that doesn’t help. The wobble isn’t apparent when the stock is loaded into your shoulder. All that being said, I still think it will get 1MOA or better with good ammo

Once you put forward pressure on the stock, there really shouldn't be any wobble.

@@jameslovesjammie definitely. There is no wobble once you are loaded onto the stock, unless you move your shoulder up or down while pressing the stock. But that isn’t normal under regular practice and form during the shot. The wobble is a non issue if your form is set.

This is true. Fairly certain it was for rifles sold before a certain date. I just bought this one, not effected by the recall. With that I would assume any of these bought new this year would not be effected. But you can simply type in your serial number on CZ website to check.

Watched the whole video and appreciate all the info. Something I want to point out though. You dry fired the gun with a magazine in it, with live bullets not only in the room, but right next to you loaded in magazines. Makes it a lot easier to have an ND when you do stuff like that.

@@super-6-4 thanks for the sub! As for the dented cases, I have had other rifles do the same, but it was worth mentioning. I don’t see it as an issue honestly. It’s not a gouge, but only a small dent. Once the primer ignites, the case will immediately swell to the chamber of the rifle, as if the dent were never there.

The thing is you can shoot 556 from a European 223 gun because CIP (like your SAAMI) in europe has no 556. Our 223 has the same pressure (62.000 PSI) as 556. That means you can shoot 556 through a european 223 rifle, but i dont know where thoose are manufactured. That also means that you shouldn't shoot european 223 through a US 223 gun ^^

You are wrong on many levels. This is from the website of an ammo manufacturer: * * * "Differences between the two are small but can have a large impact on performance, safety and weapon function. The first difference is the higher pressure level of the 5.56 NATO cartridge which runs at approximately 58,000 psi. A 223 Remington is loaded to approximately 55,000 psi. The second and most important difference between the two is the fact that a 5.56 NATO chamber has a .125” longer throat. This allows approximately one more grain of powder to be loaded into a 5.56 NATO cartridge; this is what gives it higher performance than its 223 Remington cousin. The biggest problem with these differences is when firing a 5.56 NATO cartridge in a rifle chambered for 223 Rem. Due to the longer throat that the NATO chamber employs this combination will cause a 223 chambered weapon to run at approximately 65,000 psi or more. This is 10,000 psi higher than the 223’s normal functioning pressure of 55,000 psi. This is NOT safe and will cause primers to back out, or worse, cause harm to the operator, the rifle, or both. The reverse of this is firing a 223 Rem cartridge in a 5.56 NATO chambered rifle. Due to the throat difference between the two chambers a 223 Rem cartridge may not work optimally in a 5.56 NATO chambered weapon. The cause of this is the lack of pressure built by a 223 Rem cartridge fired from a 5.56 NATO chamber. The 223’s 55,000 psi will not be attained and therefore velocity and performance are hurt. Problems start occurring when this combination is fired out of a 5.56 NATO chambered rifle with a 14.5” (or shorter) barrel. The lower powder charge of the 223 round coupled with the pressure drop that occurs when it is fired in a the 5.56 NATO chamber will cause the rifle to cycle improperly. NATO chambered rifles with barrels longer than 14.5” should function properly when firing 223 Rem ammunition." * * * Be safe out there folks!

I love CZ and I want to like this rifle but I can’t figure out what niche it fills for me. An AR isn’t that much bigger and the butt stock can be folded. Is it astronomically more accurate to justify the bolt action vs semi auto? If they offered it in 308 I’d be all over a compact medium to large game hunting rifle. I want one, I just haven’t found a reason to NEED one.

I like it (me personally) because 223 is light, potent, and versatile. The rifle is light and simple, yet can be outfitted with whatever you want optics and accessories wise. It’s compact where traditional bolt actions are not. It has the look of an exotic, expensive bolt action without the price. It takes AR mags so you can have as much ammo on board as you want. And it’s new. That pretty much sums up my reasoning.

Looks like they copied the Q mini fix but with the Q Honey Badger style (stock instead of brace). The early production of this model allowed you to be able to change the barrel but were recalled, too bad, would be great in 300 BO.

Sad to see the 527 go for this sad little gun. Plastic chassis and a 2-3 moa accuracy guarentee. For as much as they want for them you would think you would get better quality. Hopefully cz will bring some quality back to their rifle line .

Cz states the 2-3 MOA guarantee is because the 7.62x39 ammo commonly available is not very accurate. The 5.56/.223 rifles should be more accurate.

Nope,223 ammo is hard to get here in Australia. Reloading supplies are almost non existent. Still no large rifle primers, gun powder is in short supply, plenty of brass and projectiles.
