@@Danefrak You don't really need to, but some folks, myself included< don't like the idea of painting the barrel or gas tube/gas block. Different strokes for different folks.

You don't have to completely dissassemble. Just tape up the parts that you don't want painted. Any paint that gets on the barrel will just burn off. If you don't dissassemble, either tape off the mag well, or put an empty mag in it. The paint job turned out nice.

I used to apply the flat clear, but it made touch up work a little more difficult

Step1a: Unload and clear the gun 1b: remove or mask off anything you don't want painted Step 2: Rattle can go PSSSSSTTT Step 3: let dry That paper target thing under the hand guard was pretty clever.

oh yeah, definitely. Ive used mineral spirits on one of these rifles twice to remove the paint and try out different colors

Depends on what kind. I just use hoppes or rem oil with no issues

If you can't rub your firearm with mud for camo & fire it, throw it in the river.

Mud washes off in the rain, paint stays around for a while. Now I always have camo no matter what the weather.
