Thank you, Kirk, for the updated info. I have recently test driven 2025 Lexus NX 350H, 2024 Lexus RX 350, and 2024 RAV4 Prime. This what I found out: the RAV4 Prime beats both NX350H and RX350! NX350H is rather tight and uncomfortable, and the cabin is noisy; while the RX350 is quiet and comfortable but acceleration is sluggish. In contrast, the RAV4 Prime is as quiet and comfortable as RX350 but has much faster acceleration, and it is $10K cheaper than RX350 (Premium Plus). Better yet, the local Toyota dealers were eager to sell their RAV4 Prime without any mark up or offered to allocate a car with the color I preferred. One dealer even offered a small discount over MSRP! What a difference of situation compared to one or two years ago when dealers had $10k mark up! Without the $7500 tax credit, the RAV4 Prime is too expensive and no longer a hot sale car. Another thing I don't like for the current RAV4 Prime is its aged infortaiment system (the display is small - 8.0 inch for SE and 10.5 inch for XSE). Therefore, I have decided to wait for another year for the redesigned RAV4 Prime. I really hope that the new RAV4 Prime has better and large (12 or 14 inch) infortaiment system, TSS3.0 or above, longer EV range, and genuine leather seats. Most importantly, bring back the $7500 tax credit so that it is more affordable!

Where it lacks is width for the three back seaters. The head room is fine for me also with our sunroof. They likely won’t stretch it - because they have the highlander. I’d like to see three zone climate control like the Honda passport and Ridgeline have brought to rav4. I’d like to see a unibody truck from Toyota that can beat the Ridgeline. Base it in the grand highlander as a five passenger AWD hybrid with a 800/1000 pound bed weight limit or something similar and a 3500/5000 tow ability for folks who don’t tow or need a “truck truck”. I’d use it for family trips. Plenty of cargo room, 30-35 mpg, three zone climate, AWD Toyota grand highlander unibody truck. It would be perfect. Sadly Toyota never - ever - makes their vehicles to what customers want with the exception of their family vehicles. Their trucks, SUVs, sports vehicles always seem to let down Toyota enthusiasts except for maybe the Corolla GR.

I saw the video review by Savagegeese before I purchased the vehicle and he was spot on about the handling characteristics of the vehicle. It’s numb at best and potentially dangerous at worst. It’s not a GR vehicle, but Toyota markets the Rav4 Prime as a “performance” vehicle, which it’s not. I wouldn’t advise any spirited driving in this vehicle, especially around curves or corners. It was no surprise that the Prime failed the moose test when tested and the “fix” from Toyota didn’t correct the issue. *correction* The Rav4 Prime model was retested last year (the 2023 model) and it finally passed the moose test, but it still struggled for grip at only 45 mph.

You asked which type of gas/electric I’m most interested in, so as someone actively buying a plugin hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), I’ll explain my thinking. To get a PHEV based on even cheaper compact crossovers costs thousands & thousands more, boosting a Ford Escape or Hyundai Tucson over $40K, and the RAV4 Prime to ~$48K. So I figured, what the heck, you might as well spring for a true luxury vehicle ($49K-$55K) and get Mazda’s new CX-70/CX-90. If you loaded an Audi Q5 e or Volvo XC60 Recharge PHEV to similar equipment levels, they’d cost $61K+/$71K+ respectively! I special ordered a ‘25 Mazda from Japan; 3-4 more weeks.

I would like a new Rav 4 hybrid. I wouldn't mind a similar look, but I think Toyota could give us a more refine product.

FWD and AWD Hybrid all trims from LE to XSE just like the 25 Camry. And an LE Prime so people can afford it as well as XLE and XSE. Also beef up the rear electric drive motor in all trims so it's actually useful when needed. All 4 wheels should be getting power when traction is needed to move the car. Not just one wheel spinning and the car just sitting there like a lame duck. That's just unacceptable in this day and age with modern electronics and traction control devices.

my husband uses his 2023 RAV4 hybrid xle he bought new in January for sales he drives 850 miles a week he now has 68k miles on it original tires just oil changes ever 5k miles and air filters every 15k miles his life time total average for the RAV4 is 47.1 mpg and he gets over 600 miles per tank like clock work usually like 630 before miles to 0 it still has like 7 score on brakes what Toyota said and the RAV4 hybrids been great very realible and good on gas 46 to 47 per tank hand calculated per tank we love Toyota hybrids and the new RAV4 will probably be even better on gas and even better then ares I would highly buy a RAV4 hybrid

i want a sedan with the rav4 prime's powerful electric motors. Put the big motor in the rear and the regular one up front so you don't break the ecvt.

hybrid is a must and plug in would be interesting as well if they were able to bring the price down any.

Hello Kirk, Any updates on the next gen Rav4? While I love my 2010 Prius Gen 3, I am really thinking of getting another vehicle and I want it to be a PHEV and a Toyota. So Rav4 or maybe someday either a 4-Runner or Tacoma. When you want something, time slows down.

Toyota needs to give more options of interior colours (and exterior colours) and two-tone options for other trim levels other than Trail/Adventure and SE/XSE for their mid to upper trim levels. Also higher trims should have memory exterior mirrors and tilt reversing mirrors. Also SE and XSE should be available for gas models

I’m coming up on three years ownership of an se RAV4 prime with 60 k on the odometer. 70 % of my driving is electric . Owning this car has accelerated the payoff of my solar system by several years. I have no range anxiety regardless of temperature (I live in Wisconsin) one of last winter’s cold snaps left many ev’s paralyzed. Current battery tech is not compatible with below zero temperatures. Really it’s perfect for me as is but I would like the ability to power my home overnight with the prime and if I do that I will need more battery storage say 30 %.

Whenever you think of a compact SUV, the RAV4 is just an iconic name that you think of. And for good reason. My family has leased three RAV4s over the span of 10 years (we had a 2013, a 2017 after the refresh, and then the 2021 with the current generation), and they’re perfect daily drivers. Plus the Toyota reliability is why we bought those cars in the first place too. I’m sure we’ll get this new RAV4 once the lease on this 2021 is over.

When solid state batteries arrive, the plug in hybrid will be the most useful application. Double the current electric only range and I’m in.

Why do some Toyota models have a flat tire repair kit and no space saver tire. I won't buy a car that does not have the spare or space saver tire. I bought a 2023 Crown since it has the space saver spare, and my wife's Corolla cross hybrid did not have one so bought one and just put it in the back with a jack kit. They do this to save a few pounds but does it really make a difference. What happens if you get a flat at night when its raining? Or if the flat tire is not repairable. Your stuck!

Only FWD trims come with spare tire. No room for AWD, due to drivetrain.

In the UK (and I think the rest of Europe too) the RAV4 is already only available in hybrid or plug-in hybrid. I can’t see them continuing the ICE version with the new model.
