Unboxing and review of DeWalt's new tyre inflator. Model number is DCC018n (DCC020IB in the US I believe, is the same tool).
Tested with a 4AH battery, this video gives you a little look at what you get in the box, and how the unit performs in real life.

*Great air pump **MyBest.Tools** Faster than my old plug in pump and twice as handy without having to drag the cord around.And it works with my existing Ryobi drills battery.*

4 minutes of loud noise for 1 tyre?!! I was just about to buy one but it is a lot faster to use a foot pump haha! Thanks for the video, this made me change my mind.

Thats fair enough! With multiple cars it's worth it with the auto shut off feature, for meat least. Allows me to multi-task. I do agree, a double foot pump will do the same.

Hi guys and gals,- one thing about reviews is the reviewers rarely read the manuals. The key thing all the reviews I have seen about this inflator is that you can inflate to PSI, Bar or kPa. This is versatile when you have different units like cars, trucks and tractors. They often use different units in their manuals. A really great plus.

Thanks for your review it was really helpful - I've been debating if I should get this (I have a few Dewalt batteries). I bought one and have never looked back, it is an amazing bit of kit. Expensive but worth it, I have found it to be very accurate. So much easier to use this than a corded inflator.

Good idea about the bag. I think the reason for a screw thread connection is that the level types can lock on but fail to connect properly, which may cause back pressure to the inflator. Nice bit of kit though.
@jonwelch564
@jonwelch564 2 жыл бұрын
The inflator needs the back pressure, otherwise it can't detect the pressure to stop at.

@@jonwelch564 You are correct, if not connected properly the generator would just drive into no load, which might not be good. But your observation is correct. I really do like this bit of kit though, it works very well.

Thank you for taking the time to review this for us. It's quite expensive compared to other brands e.g. Ring. Have Dewalt 18v XR stuff presently but is it enough to persuade me to buy this more expensive item? Het ho! Thanks again.

Is it suitable for blowing up air beams in caravan awnings (around 7 psi) and is there an auto cut off on the low pressure side as well as the high pressure hose?

Im not sure on the awnings - if you normally use a pump similar to blowing up air beds, then yes it would work. The Low pressure side is just on or off.

Gah, no memory? My 10-12 year old Ring portable inflator remembers the last setting. I know it's a minor feature thing but it's always a much bigger let-down when it's something so simple and so obvious that they omit or get wrong. It really makes me wonder what else they might have overlooked or skimped on. I do like the soft-start mechanism and it seems quieter than the competition. Oh well, thanks for the overview.
@jonwelch564

Having read the instructions, they say the setting get wiped for safety reasons to avoid overinflation! I don't think they thought it through properly, as the setting prevents overinflation. Unless I have missed something.

In high flow - so inflating boats, swimming pools, anything that would use the wider hose... then run for ten minutes and rest for ten minutes. For tyre inflation that has auto-stop on the dialled in pressure then this restriction isn't in play. Also using very calibrated pressure gauges the DeWalt is within 10%.
@vladimirk5013

NOTE: If the pressure rating for the item being inflated is above 100 psi, note that the maximum run time is 10 minutes. Leave to rest for 20 minutes before reusing. Above 100 psi !!! Above 100 psi !!!

Really what did you expect? It runs off the Dewalt battery system - I'm no particular fan of Dewalt but this is no different to ANY 18V power tool battery system. You won't be able to charge any 18V battery from your vehicle's 12V system without some type of inverter or boost circuit to get the charging voltage higher than the battery you're trying to charge.
