t2 here (i use insulin so i'll be staying with g7, most likely) - i've known people who died very early of t2 and i know for sure they could've lived much longer had they had cgm. i personally was able to radically change my a1c once i started with the g6. it's always so frustrating to hear from people that the evidence doesn't show effectiveness. it *so does* impact on a potentially life/death range. it's so frustrating for insurance to not cover it. exciting to see stelo to give that insight to the t2 population!! it's lifesaving information, to be honest.

I'd like to disagree with the opinion that T2Ds don't need alarms, specifically low alarms or "interruptions" as they were called in the interview. You see, not all the T2Ds are hypo aware. At least I'm not. I've had T2D for over 5 years now, been on oral medication ever since, and the lowest I've ever dropped without me knowing it was 25 mg/dL (or 1.4 mmol/L). That situation scared me to death and motivated me to start using a CGM. There is also the case of overtreating a low. In my opinion it is much better to be alarmed that I'm going low at 75-80 mg/dL (4.2 - 4.4 mmol/L) and treat the low with a single glucose tablet than, not knowing how low exactly I am and how many carbs I need, overtreat the low with half a jar of Nutella resulting in my numbers going sky high. So, while I do appreciate the insights, I also love the "interruptions" 😁

yeah, i get lows- not often, but it happens. it tends to get blamed on insulin but it's happened during times where exogenous insulin isn't in my body at all. i value the alarms a lot.

Does anyone have an idea how long the FDA process for the direct-to-watch update might take? Are we talking years or months?

Honestly with the Stelo, it doesn't sound so much as they need to build the right product, more that they need to convince regulators to allow people to access the right product. There's no good reason why someone who isn't on insulin shouldn't be able to get a G7 other than "well they said no"

I'm on the tslim as well. What exactly were the problems when paired with the dexcom g7 ? Thanks for insight !
@Keegan0807

The sensors that I tried were very inaccurate. At night time if I laid on my side it would loose connection. Also, if you pair the sensor with your phone first before your pump, it would said sensor was already used and not let you have it paired with your pump and phone.

The first day on the first G7 with my t:slim, I needed to calibrate several times. Day 2 forward was fine and the sensor change was uneventful. So far G7 has been fine for me. Thankful when it is possible to have choices.

To my uncles who live in Montreal are born with type one diabetes so I keep trying to find different meters to recommend to them and it runs in my dad side. The family and my my uncles is an owner of a donut shop called Tim Hortons brand wise in Canada, which is so bad if you’re a diabetic.

What about direct to watch in Europe (not UK)? As I understood, it’s waiting for the FDA, but FDA is in USA. Do they have same regulatory process in EU as well at this time?

Can I please give you guys some feedback can you please not charge a fee for the software because people who have hardly any insurance or on tight budgets like me and my family cannot always afford the software and I personally am all for the smart meters. I think they’re a good idea in the healthcare industry, but needs to be affordable to everybody, including people on disability.

What about non invasive blood glucose tracking? I watched this thing expecting you to ask something about when will non invasive blood glucose feature come or are the even working on it and or how they will feel if samsung or apple comes out with a non invasive blood glucose feature that is just as accurate as their devices will they loose money 💰? What about people scared of needles idk just saying I was really hope for questions on non invasive blood glucose methods 😅

I wish they would just come out and say that this is not for diabetics. This is for people who just want to see their glucose levels. Has absolutely nothing to do with Type 2 diabetics. They are targeting “athletes”
@clarkkent7973

I disagree. They are targeting Type-2 diabetes with the goal of insurance paying for it.

That is interesting news on a fanstastic KZbin channel. Thanks for the interviews. I recently made a video comparing the Libre3 and Dexcom G7 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJSagoatqM93esU , they seem to be almost identical in terms of accuracy. Hopefully you can interview Abbott at some point about improving their app.

the reason maybe someone won't use that technology is it's locked to crap phones like Apple and Samsung. How much money has dexcom been given under the table by Samsung and apple ???

What other option is there in USA/Europe? The app requires FDA certification, and FDA certification is expensive (think $10M+).

The G7 is a PROBLEM. MARD of 8.1??? I feel lucky if my G7 is within 30 pts of my meter reading. Ive been using the G7 since 10/23 when I gave up my G6 for the "better" G7. No. It isnt. It is a POS. Can you calibrate the G7?? The G7 often rejects my calib. attempt. Why?? No reason given. Maybe it doesnt like the FACT that it is inaccurate. The G7 is "out of range" 50% of the time. I am often within 18 inches of my phone and the sensor is still out of range. BS. Does the G7 work with the INPEN??? Nope. Not. At. All. Does the G7 work anywhere?? Nope. "Only on your upper arm" say the Dexcom tech. support. They told me this is stated on their website. No. It is not. Watch the sensor before you put it on. Ive had 2 sensors that had the needle OUTSIDE of the proper injection location. Both did NOT work. Often, the G7 will go from 130 to 190 to 250 to 320 in less than an hour. I check my meter and BG is 220. WTF?? No idea. G7 usually rejects a recalib. during these temporary insanity periods. There are SO MANY more issues with this POS G7. I am done. Going back to the G6. G7 = worthless POS that Dexcom refuses to fix.

This product is useless. Literally fix your current products and make your products feature complete instead of releasing a product that doesn't do everything it needs to and everything users want it to.
