Hey man, I've had my diamond dove for about a month but she's still very scared of me and she's not tamed. Do you have any tips on taming a diamond dove?

Sorry for the late reply. I clipped the flights on mine, to start out by training my doves. I know a lot of ppl are against it cause they don't use their beak to climb like parakeets. But this is my way taming these skittish little doves, and it works 100% all the time. That's my secret. :)

How did you tame him? I have a blue ground dove that's probably even more skittish than you described this DD...she will fly if she even sees me at all, she's gonna hurt herself and eats poorly

So sorry for late reply, but in case others wanted to know as well, this is the main reason I clip their wings so that they can't hurt themselves in the process of taming the bird. They're nervous, stressed due to their new environment and humans surrounding. So that's why I clip the wings and slowly work with my doves til they calmed down and get comfortable around me. Better be safe than sorry. It'll be too late once the bird hurts itself.

Is clipping the only way youve found to get them to calm down to you?

I got mine at the pet shop cuz she had mange so shes already very stressed and skittish. I read clipping their wings stresses them enough to kill them (in my case for how mistreated she was) so do u have any other tips on taming or know of any other dove owners that make videos as well?

@@funnygirlz5 No. Clipping their wing will not stress them out enough to kill them. Working with them while they're stress out with full flight will do more damages to themselves than anything when they fear you and fly into the walls, window, ceiling fans, and other objects in the house that may cause bodily harm. If you follow my recent videos of my new dove I acquired back in early May, she was a fledgling then but now matured. And she is tame as ever. And I've been using the same method by clipping their flights. But you may try sticking your hand nice and slow inside it's cage and leave it there for like 10 to 15 mins here and there throughout the day, so it can get use to your presence. Possibly have some seeds in your palm, so it can eat off of your hand. Hopefully, it'll gain your trust as time goes by. It takes time and patience.

How did you tame him how long did it take?

Sorry for the late reply, it took about 2 months for him to start gaining my trust. I then slowly work with him by having him perch on my fingers everyday.
