Im willing to bet that the first irl super major will have a nearly unrecognizable top 8. We’re basically starting with a clean slate as if it’s a whole new meta (which it totally is) and in that new meta, I think Tweek will be the biggest threat.

There is a reason players like M2k, mango, armada etc. were such great players for as long as they wanted to be in melee. The top of the Pgr will look roughly the same but the thing is anyone from the top 15 is good enough to make top 8. Marss, Leo, and Tweek will undeniably be in the top 5. You only think that there will be a change because there is a possiblity of it happening, and it is very very slim

@@free3793 I’m not saying the change will last. Just that it’s unlikely that everyone comes back 100% out of the gate. First few months I expect the top 10 to be a bit different. And this is much different from any other period of time in smash history. Literally the entire scene stopped playing. Can’t compare that to m2k taking a year off, or any individual. Over time it’ll get back to normal for sure, but with what Tweek has discovered about his character and continuing to stay fresh, I feel like he has a good chance to dominate right out the gate.

Another reason why everyone should consider shoulder button jump. Not only does it open up useful tech like this and attack cancel bairs but in general it feels more comfortable if you have a shoulder button for full hopping and double jumping while keeping your thumb free on the c stick. I still use x for the short hop macro where you press x and R

Changed to "claw" 3 years ago and I never have problems with tec like this :) i use bouth pg arial cansle and The shielding one like you said depending on situation, and I have grab on L just to have a big shoulder button for zdrop cansles. Claw grip took me 2 weeks to learn and now i cant play normal anymore :)

Using Monkey Flip Pop Gun Cancel into dair offstage is just sooo strong, you can quite literally catch them offguard when they recover in a predictable manner and land a free spike dair on them. Especially if their recovery has no hitbox (Falcon, DH etc.)

Bro I literally ran into someone using this tech online, I bet $100 dollars he watched this guide, or someone else’s guide and was like “nOw ThAt I AdDeD tHiS tO mY KIt, My DidDy WiLl bE aT tHe NeXt LeVeL” he was playing such a degenerate way too. He would just popgun cancel as a way to maneuver around me and run away to the opposite end of the stage, spam banana peel and literally just keep throwing them until I got hit then he’d run up and forward smash. He’d also spam side b whenever he wanted to quickly close distance between us. It was pissing me off😂 cuz he was actually destroying me pretty bad and I could barely damage him cuz he kept running away! Now I’m really bad at mashing so every time he side b me he’d be able to rack up damage really quickly on me. I somehow managed to get us both on the last stock and I guess he knew I was bad at mashing because he just continued to spam side b. So anyways we were at the ledge, he managed to side b me and I guess he didn’t expect me to actually try and mash because when I did I managed to shake him off and I guess he didn’t expect it because he just slowly drifted off stage and died and I won😂 most satisfying game of all time for me. Losing horribly by winning because the guy SD’d what a clown.

me and tweek have similar controls now, except i always used RZ for jumps and the LZ for grabs. Until i switched to a different GCC that only had RZ and not the second one. So i changed my grab to L. (if your wondering i short hop with Z and X. Never learned how to do single button short hops.

Why not Z to jump and L for Grab and keep R on shield? The Z button is so much easier for short hope than the R or L shoulders with full presses required without a ‘tap’ option. IMHO as a scrub player watching a pro player do his thing.

I have the same configuration as you, and it is the best! Its hard to regulate short/long hops with triggers (R/L), so Z jump and L grab is the answer... But tweek just uses L jump only for the cancel, so it works for him too.
