Does it have mechanical shutter? Does it have 1 inch CMOS? In my mind the best combination would be a fleet with Mavic 3 E and Mavic 3 E Thermal, that would cover much of the bases while keeping one set of ancillaries while keeping it around $10,000. As long as it's not raining those two would do the trick. I'm considering just that

@@C-Noel anyway at $9000 it's almost the price of one Mavic 3T AND one Mavic 3 E. I would take that duo even over the M 30 T. Soon one resourceful fellow is going to cobble a cheap remote controlled range finder on board the Mavic 3 ❤
@DakarBlues Жыл бұрын
@@C-Noel on their website, there is just one shutter speed and it's 1/8000 s., which is consistent with electronic/rolling shutter. This would mean that the Max T is not the right Jack of all trade if it cannot do geodetic mapping!

I have been looking at this as a DJI replacement for the Thermal and Mapping functions all in 1 drone. No Geo Fence, and what looks like an open SDK for 3rd party app's. It looks like the controller is big and bright, and from what the info says it has mapping setup and planning, and a lot of other functions that DJI is now limiting between all of the drone models. This might be a good, versatile drone. We'll see........

I believe DJI no longer uses a FLIR so this is a selling point for the Autel. I’m a DJI fan boy but would need this.
@DakarBlues Жыл бұрын
My best bet is 3T and 3M. Indeed the Mavic 3 Multispectral has a mechanical shutter for agricultural mapping, which is not very different from urban mapping. With those two, one gets to cover ALL bases at a price point around the same as the M30T. Personally I'm going in that direction ❤. Autel missed the juggernaut by omitting a mechanical shutter on the Max. I would like how sturdy its EMI and corona shielding are.

I’m comparing them because they’re in the same class of drone. These are drones for search and rescue, inspection, etc. You put a thermal camera on it and the price goes way up. I'm not sure it's a "disrupter" but it looks to be a well-put-together drone. It's pretty much what all the drone people at CES were talking about the entire weekend I was in Vegas. I'll be honest with you, I'm sick and tired of hearing about geo-fencing. I've never been prevented from completing a mission over geo-fencing. Frankly, only a complete IDIOT goes out to do professional work without checking the area first. In my experience, DJI is often laxer than the FAA. Just ask the companies and people that have gotten thousands of dollars in fines over the years. Besides, there's a distinct possibility that DJI will drop NFZs once Remote ID is fully implemented. I've never liked that one of Autel's main selling points is that "you can fly them ANYWHERE". There's a video of a guy launching a Nano+ from the front door of an airport terminal. You keep mentioning "FAA approval" but 99% of people that stroll into Walmart or Best Buy to purchase a drone or order one from Amazon, don't check with the FAA before they fly. To me, this would be just like promoting one firearms brand over another because their guns don't come with those pesky safeties. Back to the drone, I honestly think that DJI left a door open and Autel walked right in. Good for them! Honestly, in my opinion, that's their best way forward. Trying to compete with DJI one on one isn't really working out for them. Their most successful platforms are in places DJI doesn't cover, like the Dragonfish, for example.
@AerialInfluence Жыл бұрын
If you’re flying near critical infrastructure, airport or government facility, it can be a real problem. I’m telling people what they’re supposed to do in terms of FAA approval. Up to them to follow that advice. And I’m not talking to the Best Buy drone buyers, I’m talking to people who are buying an expensive machine to help them do their jobs more efficiently and in some cases to help save lives.
