Thank you for this very informative video. I listen to everything I can get my hands on. My 32 year old son was diagnosed about 4 years ago. Long story short, he has just started on invega sustenna. What a difference already. Of course I am concerned about side affects. Will keep listening for more updates in this area of pharmacology and mental illness. Agree something needs to be done to raise awareness.

Medications for the negative symptoms of schizophrenia are needed ASAP
@DebbieMassey-ph1ok Жыл бұрын
Yes this mental illness needs more testing,it's a horrible thing for someone to have to live with. My son has this and he is miserable everyday. He will not take those meds,so iam staying here with him because no one else wants to help him deal with his problem. Thank you for caring.

my son is also suffering from schizophrenia . the medical centers put him on injection of Abilify. he spends a lot of money to the level that I can't cope with it. At times I put tablets of risperidone with juice or tea I found him did better .But I stopped giving the tablets without his will.

Brain damage can occur if you dont take medication for schizophrenia. Then again, long term, brain damage can occur if you do take medication for schizophrenia. It’s a catch-22

@@Emmahmaru my guess is that it's all to do with getting the right dosage but the fact that there's an experimental aspect to it is where the danger lays. I found this with taking antidepressants. Several different brands and not one of them worked.

Lets treat the person, NOT the disease. Treating the person will eventually treat the disease. We do NOT treat the disease, we suppress the symptoms, and with that comes a whole lots of other problems. To name few, physical difficulties, diabetes, hypertension, parkinsonism, . A lot more, the list outweighs the benefits. Let's focus on lifestyle, physical activity, gut bacteria, reduce stress, sleep hygiene, social skills, family support. NO ILLICIT SUBSTANCES, NO ALCOHOL.

Best way to deal with schizophernia is to show them videos of when they have a relapse. As they deny everything
@silverdweller28093 жыл бұрын
That seems pretty harsh, a lot of people with schizophrenia can actually recognize that something is wrong after the fact and I can't support taking videos of vulnerable people in that situation. Hope this was a joke...

Is the point to shame & embarrass already suffering people so that you can say “i was right you were wrong”??? What sort of toxic mentality are you on about. The point is to help people with schizophrenia, not exploit them for some strange personal gain. Gross.
@pearlverdun Жыл бұрын
The problem with use of anti psychotics is the sufferer forgets everything. So denial is difficult in terms of importance of keeping treatment going. Anti psychotics are hell and suppress all dopamine and motivation. I have my daughter terrified, because for the first time in 8 years, isnt an emotional zombie having been drugged up for 8 years. She stopped her meds. Now we are looking at adding minerals and vitamins to her epigentics and getting her on low levels of anti psychotics. There is so much out there on epigenetics especially COMT AND MAOA epigenetics and high dopamine and estrogen issues

We do know schizophrenia typically occurs in teen years, the same time growth spurts happen...so we need research on growth and hormones including vitamin d which acts as a hormone.

I would rather die from medication side effects long term, than live with torturous negative symptoms of schizophrenia short term. Please focus on quality of life as the most important factor. Life is pointless if you cant enjoy it due to apathy & avolition.

If it works everybody would be using it? Well, you could say that about any treatment for schizophrenia. If they all aren’t on the same treatment, we’ll then none of them work, right? I think he’s too pessimistic about alternative treatments. Some of them work for some people. I myself knew 40 years ago that exercise helped my mental health but it was considered an alternative treatment back then or not even a treatment but it worked for me.

I have a question about the drugs, especially Risperdone. If it is prescribed and purchased say at Walmart Pharmacy vs Walgreens, is it different? Are there different manufacturers for the exact same drug? I feel that one of the companies above vs the other works better and the person taking this medicine does not know if it is from either company, they merely have different reactions.
@LipSyncLover5 жыл бұрын
Idk about that drug but I have had different reactions from a generic beta blocker vs a brand name beta blocker even though they were the same supposed formula

CBD should be on clinical trial since it regulates de CNS for people with epilepsy. MDMA in low doses with a clinical setting also should work but this is high on the addictive scale so the answer is only in clinical setting and supervised therapy.

Cannabis contain aprox 400 compounds n only thc is responsible for addiction rest are useful whole Indian Ayurveda depend on hemp as a base . Like alcohol is used as base in allopathy . In aatharveda there r special methods to drive those chemical out using ancient herbs .
@12wiber4 жыл бұрын
The potential for abuse is obviously something to take into account, but they can still be very useful medically. For example most of the medicines for ADHD treatment are narcotic/abusable, but this generally doesn't happen in people that weren't prone to addiction. Cannabis is way less addictive mentally than these drugs.
