Alright, let's give credit where it's due-this review wouldn't have been half as entertaining if it weren't for my main man, Chris. His reviews are like a masterclass in riding and wit, setting the bar sky high! Now, let's talk dream bikes. Picture this: a Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono sitting pretty in my garage, begging for a spin. And hey, a little birdie tells me a SP version might be in the works-fingers crossed! Then there's the KTM Duke 890, the trusty steed for daily commutes and for the weekend adventures I'd take the 698 to bring that grin on my face. Sure, the new Duke 990 has its perks, but those headlights? Not my cup of tea. Anyway, until my dream garage becomes a reality, I'll be tearing up the streets on the new KTM Duke 390 Gen 3 (2024) I just got. And Chris, hats off to you, my friend! Your reviews are the gospel for bike enthusiasts everywhere. Keep riding safe and riding hard! Peace out. ☮️

I’ve a 70bhp xr650r sm and it’s 20kg lighter. I’ve ridden a smc690 which I believe is the same weight and just feels heavy compared to my XR. Amazing how 20 years of progress hasn’t produced a road supermoto I’d prefer over my big pig…the XR has absolute legend reliability too…king of the dessert. El campèon
@seashackf110 ай бұрын
Lol, that’s hilarious. You can’t get more reliable or cheaper to maintain than an XR, any XR. I have an XR 400 engine in my TRX400ex quad and it’s been bullet proof and cost nothing to maintain. It’s funny how sometimes ‘progress’ is a step back in some ways, but always much more $$$$. Did you buy it already SM’d or did you do it yourself? If so is there much involved with that bike? Don’t get me wrong, the Ktm and Duke are f’n awesome and I would love to have one, but I’m not sure the bang for the buck is there over some other options like a 650.

Spec sheets rarely tell the complete story. We live in a world where in my opinion, there are no bad bikes, only ones that work for you or not. At the end of the day, motorcycles are an emotional purchase; you buy the bike that moves your soul, then look at the spec sheets later. We live in a time where technology has allowed a manufacture to create any bike they can dream up and as long as we can keep us riders interested, should make this the best time in history to be a motorcyclist.

The Aprilia SXV still remains the ultimate sexy supermoto ever made in my opinion - no aids, no restrictions, just raw rip your arms off power!
@serow69 ай бұрын
The SXV was the biggest disaster in Aprilia's history. I owned the first gen bike and it was a huge disappointment. They did figure it out but not before replacing a bunch of engines and pissing tons of people. Ducati and KTM build quality in this narrow use case blows away what the SXV / RXV platform was on day one. The aids make this Ducati the most accessible bike for a new rider who wants to lay down stunts and do track days. You'll hopefully see these on the road. SXVs are all hiding in their garages or sitting around with broken motors....
@benmanning43409 ай бұрын
@@serow6 yeah that's why I said in my opinion, I didn't ask for yours. I also said no rider aids, that's part of owning an SXV or other true supermotos converted or not. I also own a KTM and GasGas 2 stroke converted supermotos, again no aids,no restrictions from factory just pure hilariously fun power. As for reliability of the Aprilia, there have been many accounts including myself of people doing many thousands of miles without needing to touch the engine internals. But as with anything mechanical, they can and do go wrong but with a little maintenance and the knowledge to know what you're doing and what you're looking at with these compact explosive V twin engines, they can of course become reliable. I myself always prefer the more "unusual" bikes that no one's ever heard of and often use my Aprilia and my 2 strokes for work on nicer days so no they're not sat in my garage with a "broken motor". 👍

Even though I will never own a Supermoto myself I am still excited about Ducati investing in this new single cylinder bike. But they probably won't to not compete with their own line-up (Desert X) 😢
@nicksokolis634310 ай бұрын
The problem with turning this to an enduro might be the high reving engine.
@chukku217510 ай бұрын
Yes, potentially. But I am sure that Ducati can tune the engine to be more torquey with less Max HP at lower revs. Take the Tuareg 660 engine for example. It also derives from a revy sportbike but works perfectly in the Enduro trim.
