After the discussion with Sam, Joe, Maggie and Vicky, Burke comes in. He is not prepared for a very upset Vicky telling him to stop investigating Barnabas.

Try to picture this if Mitch Ryan was still Burke here. It would have worked out like this. Burke would have seemed more right to Vicki on what he had found out. The suspicion would have lasted a little better. Anthony George OTOH was too easy to put down, disrespected ( or at not heavily respected and certainly not commanding enough) and condemn.

Another thing I noticed since the new Burke: he and David used to be really good friends. Now you never see them together.

Seems that every actor that is recasted to replace the original ones role is never fully in depth. Mitchell Ryan not only put 💯 into the Burke Devlin role but in the 70s and 80s he was great in Police crime drama series and movies.

​​@@bruce8808In a few eps you did. New Burke found David after he had been in the Mausoleum and stuck there. Other eps you saw them together in too. But they did not have the same relationship mutually they had under Mitch Ryan's far superior characterization of Burke. They never much referred back to David's relationship with the old Burke. It came out like David and the new Burke had never been good friends. But again they did meet.

Who was the real Niall Bradford? Probably a prominent London merchant the 1820s Collins Family did foreign commercial transactions with. They were supposed to be from the 1820s -- the family Barn came from-- at this time. Are we to presume that the NB Burke dug up info on is the same one Barn referred to? I think so.

I think it was rare to meet a person from that time who didn’t smoke. It didn’t really hit people how unhealthy it was until the ‘90’s.

A lot of actors on Dark Shadows were smokers in those days. Thayer David died of a heart attack at 51. Grayson Hall was 62 when she died in 1985 and their were others that died too soon. Big tobacco doesn't like it when people stop smoking. They want to recruit new smokers everyday. That's how they profit off of other people's lives.

This made me think about how I was raised, in the state of NJ. We tend to be rather suspicious and I am glad I was raised that way. It has saved me from a lot of trouble over the years. Burke is highly analytical and doesn't avoid the truth. Vicki, on the other hand, is very naive and believes everything people tell her. Yes, I know this is fictional but it has real life parallels.

​@@janicetehie3839Think about the scripted bit. Would Barn really talk about England and his days there? Why should he? The Collins family of 1967 do not know many people if any at all in England. They would just be names if he mentioned them. Vic is scripted to be smart. Another thing. Believable that the closer Burke gets to the truth the more elusive the truth gets to him. That is life. You can only find out so much.

Yes he's right, but what proof did he have? A tingling kind of music? There are many music boxes with something like that. Maggie saying 'No' in front of Barnabas, she could have been having a bad flashback for all anyone knew. There could have been many Bradfords living in London, as Vicki pointed out, Barnabas could have just picked the first name he thought of to shut Burke up. We all know that Barnabas does indeed have sinister plans for Vicki, but Burke really didn't really have any strong evidence to back up his claims. He shouldn't have just asked Vicki to stay away from Barnabas without offering her ANY kind of reason as to why he wanted her to.

@@BethHarmon-uv7tl Sorry. But in Burke's phonecall to Blair the former was told that nobody in London had been with the new Niall Bradford since the early 1800s. Burke was definitely in to something but as already said. The closer you get to your answer and goal the more elusive it becomes and it also can be sheer agony to convince others around you!
